Chapter 766 - 727: Overnight in the Morgue
Before Xuelian could finish speaking, Zhao Rong immediately took the Flamethrower and aimed it at the dozen or so zombies not far away. In less than ten seconds, he had turned them into a pile of ashes.
When the three women and the assistant saw how effective the Flamethrower was against the zombies, they looked at Zhao Rong with newfound respect.
Miss Lili stepped forward and fiddled with the Flamethrower in Zhao Rong’s hand. "Brother Zhao Rong," she said curiously, "I think this Flamethrower you bought is stronger than any other weapon. It’s the perfect tool for dealing with zombies."
Yu Lan gave Zhao Rong a thumbs-up. "Brother Zhao Rong," she praised, "as long as we have this Flamethrower, we can wander around the hospital as we please, with no more fear of zombies."
Xuelian felt the Flamethrower was far more formidable than an AK-47. "Brother Zhao Rong," she said, "I didn’t expect the Flamethrower to be even more effective against these zombies than a rifle. You made the absolute right choice. From now on, I’ll follow your lead on how we deal with enemies and what weapons we use, Brother Zhao Rong."
The assistant also came forward with a beaming smile. "Brother Zhao Rong, this Flamethrower you bought from the Paradise Shopping Cart is a seriously powerful weapon," he said. "Just give it to me. I’ll carry it on my back and use it to keep everyone safe."
Just then, the wasp patient who had been leading the way suddenly emerged. Pointing to a spot not far away, he said to Zhao Rong’s group of five, "Now that you’ve eliminated the zombies blocking the way, we can head straight for the morgue nearby."
With that, the wasp patient took the lead.
Miss Lili was very curious why he thought the morgue was the safest place in the hospital. She asked, "Is the morgue really safe? Aren’t you afraid the corpses will suddenly come back to life in the middle of the night and scare you to death?"
The wasp patient chuckled. "Even if the dead did come back to life," he told Miss Lili, "it’s still much better than a zombie suddenly popping out to kill you."
Yu Lan was curious how this man could sleep soundly surrounded by corpses. "Hey," she said to the wasp patient. "I refuse to believe you can sleep soundly at night when you’re lying among the dead."
As he led the way, the wasp patient explained to Yu Lan, "You don’t understand, Miss. It’s strange, but when I try to sleep anywhere else in this hospital, I’m restless and can never sleep well. But when I go into the morgue and lie down among the dead, my sleep quality is surprisingly high. You have no idea—I get up to five hours of deep sleep every night."
When Xuelian heard the man claim he got high-quality sleep lying among the dead, she said in disbelief, "Wasp patient, you must be a real eccentric. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have the guts to sleep peacefully among dead bodies."
The wasp patient smiled and told Xuelian, "Actually, I’ve always been pretty timid. You just don’t realize how safe the morgue is."
With that, he led Zhao Rong’s group to the entrance of the morgue. Pointing inside, he announced, "Alright everyone, we’re here. Night has fallen, so let’s stay in the morgue tonight."
Saying so, the wasp patient pushed open the morgue doors and was the first to walk in.
When the three women saw they were expected to sleep in the morgue, they all found it unacceptable. They turned to Zhao Rong and said, "Brother Zhao Rong, making us sleep in this morgue... you might as well just kill us!"
Lili firmly refused to enter. "I’d rather sleep in the hallway than in this morgue," she declared.
Yu Lan looked into the morgue at the white-sheeted corpses lying on gurneys. A wave of chilling terror washed over her. "Brother Zhao Rong," she said, her voice trembling, "if we sleep among dead bodies tonight, I’m certain I won’t be able to get a wink of sleep."
Xuelian gasped and shivered. "Brother Zhao Rong, I loved watching horror movies when I was little, but I never imagined I’d end up being the main character in one."
Just as the three women were shrinking back in fear, unwilling to enter the morgue, the assistant followed the wasp patient inside. With a playful smile, he said, "Miss Lili, Yu Lan, Xuelian, what’s there to be afraid of? It’s just a few dead bodies in here. Besides, didn’t the wasp patient already say it’s completely safe? No zombies will pop out, and these corpses won’t be coming back to life. Let’s just go in and get some sleep. Otherwise, if you stay out in the hallway or somewhere else, a zombie will definitely catch and kill you."
When the three women saw the assistant walk into the morgue and accept sleeping there for the night, they all turned their gazes to Zhao Rong. Seeking his decision, they asked, "Brother Zhao Rong, you have to decide for us. Do we go into the morgue, or do we sleep somewhere else?"
Hearing their question, Zhao Rong knew the women were terrified. However, after carefully observing every nook and cranny of the hospital, he concluded that the morgue was indeed the most suitable place to stay. He turned to them and explained, "Miss Lili, Yu Lan, Xuelian, in my judgment, this morgue is the safest place in this strange, zombie-filled hospital."
Then, Zhao Rong explained his reasoning to the three women.
"First, the main door is made of reinforced glass. If we shut it, ordinary zombies can’t get through.
"Second, the room is completely sealed. It has no gaps, air vents, windows, or drains—the only way in is through the main door.
"And third, that means ordinary zombies simply can’t get inside."
