Chapter 1190 - 97: Round Table Decision: Sword in the Stone Unsealed! (Part 2)
But it was precisely the "courtly love" between him and Queen Guinevere, seen by others as unforgivable adultery, that ultimately led to the collapse of the Round Table, the death of the Knight King, and the destruction of Camelot.
Along with the tragedy of everyone involved.
Lancelot not only killed many of the Twelve Knights of the Round Table, he also slew three younger brothers of the Sun Knight Gawain: Aggrevin, Gareth, and Gaheris.
The two men, once inseparable friends and comrades, became mortal enemies who could never share the same sky.
With every shout he made, Lancelot’s expression grew a shade darker, and he involuntarily retreated a step.
Bruh swung his sword down again:
"This strike belongs to faithful Love!"
His eyes and the Sun Holy Sword together blazed with an unprecedented brilliance.
When you win or lose the crown, you’ve no one to blame but yourself—but clashes of ideals absolutely admit no compromise.
Back then, his wife, the Fairy Rigel, spent half of each day as an incomparably beautiful fairy, and the other half as an incomparably ugly beast.
Without this curse, she would be a bewitching "fairy," but with it she could only be reviled everywhere as a "monster."
Yet even in such a situation, neither he nor Gawain back then despised her; instead, each gave her a true-love kiss that symbolized the freedom to choose, and lifted the curse.
No lovers, keeping themselves clean.
So they are steadfast, unshakable pure-love warriors, utterly different from a Beastman like Lancelot, who covets other men’s queens and wives.
This is not just a reunion of sworn enemies, but a life-or-death duel between pure-love warriors and Beastmen; a clash of ideals far more irreconcilable than personal hatred!
Under the maxim: "Always support and uphold all of the King’s decisions," probably only if their own liege Byron Lancaster turned traitor would they still loyally and dutifully... stand guard at his camp gate, right?
Lancaster and Lancelot are not the same.
What the liege does doesn’t count as stealing; if that day really came, it would definitely be for the sake of the Lancaster Family’s thriving and expansion—seventeen queens in total, counting his main body plus incarnations, is still far too few.
Damn Lancelot, His Majesty already has so few queens, and you actually stole one?
Unforgivable!
Lucky for them that Lancelot didn’t know what they were thinking, or his lungs would have burst from rage:
"What a delightful, dripping-wet double standard—do you even hear yourselves?"
Boom——!
This time Lancelot finally abandoned his initial composure; he gripped the hilt with both hands and blocked with all his strength, yet was still blasted away by a single strike.
Like a cannonball he smashed through more than a dozen large trees in succession, plowing a deep trench in the ground, tumbling down the slope into the great river marked on the planning map as the inland canal for the harbor.
The absolute power of his flesh was actually beaten by Bruh, stacked to the brim with buffs.
But aside from his arms going weak and numb, Lancelot did not suffer any serious injuries.
Moreover, the instant he touched the river water, all his fatigue and minor wounds automatically mended, restoring his strength to its peak.
"Damn Guardian Knight!
It’s precisely because you lot exist that obstacles keep piling up between me and those beautiful queens. Sooner or later I’ll expand my Authority and slaughter every last one of you."
His face was dark, his eyes filled with killing intent toward Bruh, who was streaking toward him like a blazing meteor.
Several hundred years ago, the mythic legend of the Lake Light Knight Lancelot arrived with immigrants on the Eastern Continent, and in the special environment of the Corridor of Truth was revived, becoming a Knight and a King.
He is also one of the fifty major powers in the northern part of the Continent that possess multiple Fifth Orders.
The situation is similar to that of the God of Commerce Mercurius—both were activated from a fragment of mythic legend.
Memories, tales, experiences, and accumulated knowledge from humanity’s collective unconscious, once activated, usually possess a Human and become complete beings.
But whether Human Nature ends up in the driver’s seat, or Beastliness does, generally depends on whose will—the host’s or the legend’s—gains the upper hand.
In the first case, Human Nature is the [rudder], and they regard themselves as Human; in the second, the Deep Sea is the [rudder], their underlying tone is madness; they see Humans as food and the various Old God Churches as rivals snatching prey from their jaws.
Unfortunately, activated knowledge is far more powerful than ordinary people; the majority of activated knowledge ends up as the latter, sharing that man-eating kink with the Bizarre and Evil Spirits, or carrying on some obsession of the mythic figure.
Take Lancelot, for instance, who has stubbornly, day in and day out for hundreds of years, devoted himself to cucking the Kings of various countries, stealing the hearts of their queens—or just directly abducting their bodies.
Only an extremely small minority belong to the former type, still acknowledging themselves as Human—like the ancestor of the Mermaid Kingdom, fused with the myth of the sea king.
Back in the Mythological Era, the Lake Light Knight Lancelot was, aside from the Knight King, the strongest among the Twelve Knights of the Round Table, likewise possessing the qualifications of a King; even his starting gear was not inferior.
The vessel his myth and legend attached to is that Sacred Relic in his hand said to share a common origin with the Sword in the Stone: [Eternal Lake Light].
Their source is identical, both originating from Woden’s "Sword in the Tree." Although in the nearly two thousand years of subsequent mythic baptism, the Knight’s Sword has fallen far behind the King’s Sword,
it bears the blessing of Lake Fairy·Nimue; as long as he is in a place with water, he can possess inexhaustible Power, never tiring or suffering harm.
He gazed coldly at Bruh and pronounced judgment:
"You, who have contracted Gawain’s Guardian Knight—you’ve picked the wrong enemy.
Before I take that beautiful Queen who stirs my heart, let me send you and Gawain’s Heroic Spirit together back forever into the great sea of humanity’s collective unconscious!"
