Chapter 151: Real or Fake Family

Back when Houser was imprisoned, Gina could not regain the face to go out of the house. Even her so-called friends called her often, words expressing concern, but their tone and expressions betrayed the fact that they were treating her as a joke.

She was so embarrassed that she flew to other cities after selling some of her bags. She would’ve flown abroad if she could, but she was barred from flying while the trial and other investigations were ongoing.

Her daughter was supposed to go with her, but she got involved with a rich kid and didn’t want the relationship to grow cold by distance when they were still so passionate.

The amount she managed to collect before leaving was not a small amount. Even when the bank accounts were frozen, she still had some gold and gem jewelry that she sold off.

Sadly, a lifetime of lifestyle habits could not be changed so easily. She had to stay in good hotels, eat good food, buy good things.

She...also considered getting her face changed a bit. She found out that she had to do so the hard way.

Apparently, she and her daughter had gone viral for embarrassing themselves.

But since her husband was being investigated and she was also on the monitoring list, she wasn’t allowed to do so.

Her daughter was fine; she managed to attach herself to a playboy who only needed to be coaxed in bed. But Gina was older, and she didn’t want to touch those old men yet.

A woman’s value is affected by the men she chooses. The case aside, Houser was handsome and rich, which was why she liked him, and she couldn’t settle for less because that would be the standard she’d end up with.

Then...who’d have thought she’d attract a young and handsome rich generation? He called her a MILF, which she took as a compliment.

Then...after a passionate night, she lost everything! That bastard stole her cash and most of her jewelry! She only managed to keep the jewelry she was wearing, probably because he was afraid he’d wake her up!

Worse was that she couldn’t make a big deal out of it and call the police! With her current reputation and high-profile reputation, the media would have a field day if she demanded this was investigated!

Bastard! Bastard!!

She immediately called her daughter for help using the hotel’s landline (because her mobile phone was also stolen). Who’d have thought...she was under investigation, too!?

What? She’s suspected of trying to hurt someone!? Someone actually died?! ABSURD!!!

Gina had no idea how her life had become so chaotic. She just couldn’t wrap her head around it. Was someone cursing her?

In the end, she had no choice but to sell her remaining jewelry to go home. Fortunately, there was no proof of her daughter’s involvement in the so-called attempted murder, and the actual death was ruled out as an accident (the idiot literally tripped and stabbed himself). The investigation was still ongoing, but she wasn’t detained anymore.

Still, her daughter refused to go home in case someone came with an arrest warrant. After all, most of the time, arrest warrants would only be served at the registered address of the person.

Gina went home on her own.

Who’d have thought that she would come home in an empty home?

It was literally empty!!

She almost died.

Worse. Every place they hid treasures was looted! Nothing was left behind! NOTHING!!!

She also saw a few places she did not know about, but she knew they were her husband’s hiding places!

At that time, she wondered who else would know about his hiding places but himself!?

She had prayed and hoped that it was actually her husband who stole these things. It wasn’t like no one does it. It would make sure they keep their own wealth while making it seem like they had nothing in public!

However, seeing her husband looking dazed and then livid when she told him there was nothing in the house, she knew that it was not him.

Once again, Gina almost fainted.

Houser didn’t mind her anymore, and he ran inside the house. His heart was palpitating, and his ears were ringing as he rushed to the house. His eyes constricted when he saw every antique he had in the living room had disappeared.

Heck, even the expensive furniture like the full-grain leather sofas, the nubuck leather armchair, the black walnut wooden coffee table, and several others were also missing!

He rushed deeper into the house, to his study, to his bedroom, and so on, realizing that Gina was not lying nor was she exaggerating—everything was truly gone.

"WHO!? WHO STOLE MY THINGS!!!" he screamed like a pig. "WHOOOO!!!?"

That was his life’s work! He, Houser Cierra, deserved all those things! How dare anyone covet them!?

But who could he call? The police? Then he might as well ask to go back to prison!!

During this time, they all found out that this disaster was much larger than they thought. None of the phones they grabbed had signals, either. The more he thought about it, the clearer it became that he would not get his things back.

Just the thought of it made his blood turn cold.

"What? Are you trying to fool me?"

Taran’s voice echoed from behind him, making Houser’s already low mood cool down even more.

"No...no..."

The man’s ugly and terrifying face, along with the stares of his minions, made Houser feel like he was about to die.

Now that they were in his house, was there any reason in keeping him alive? After all, he promised some wealth, but now that that was gone—

"Well, be thankful most furniture is still here," he spat. "And the house itself was nice...I might keep you because I think you’re pretty skilled."

Houser felt a bit relieved. If he got beaten up in his house on top of everything, he didn’t know how he’d live.

It was around this time that soft footsteps rushed over. It was Gina, of course. "Husband? HUSBAND! What are we going to do?" she screamed. She was still so panicked about losing everything that she did not notice the people with Houser.

He was a CEO so there were always people following him around, so she subconsciously assumed the same thing now, neglecting the fact that it was her husband who was in the humbler position.

"I saw her before. She’s pretty."

The rough voice made her flinch, and Gina looked at the side characters for the first time.

She immediately realized they were hoodlums. What were they doing here? And what were they doing with her husband?

"Who..."

Taran grinned and stepped forward, and Gina’s nostrils were barraged by the man’s pungent smell. "I’m your husband’s new boss," he said, grabbing the woman’s waist. "We’re all family now. Families share, right?"

Houser’s eyes widened, but...he did not make a move. In his circle, pimping was common. It just so happened that the subject was his own wife this time.

He easily ignored his wife’s look of horror, followed by a terrified scream as she was pulled to a room by her hair.

Houser just looked away, a little guilty, but not much else.

It was better than being beaten up.
