Chapter 279 - 265: The Expansion of Junior Sister’s Guest Room is Complete

Sponsored

In a thatched hut on the outskirts of the city.

A woodcutter who had not yet fallen asleep was startled awake by the scene outside his window. He threw on some clothes, walked out of his hut, and looked up at the sky.

Then, he saw countless streams of light converging from all directions, building something on top of the giant pillar. A flat surface and a magnificent structure took shape, layer by layer, in the night sky.

The woodcutter’s mouth slowly fell open, and the axe in his hand dropped to the ground.

’No... this... how is this being built? How is it not collapsing? How can that pillar underneath possibly support it? This... could it be... a miracle?’

...

The pyramid was finally complete.

Lin Qingfeng, following the same model, then sculpted a giant sphinx next to the pyramid. He hovered high in the air, looking at the pyramid and sphinx before him, and nodded in satisfaction.

’My masterpiece is complete.’

Then, with a flash, Lin Qingfeng’s figure appeared inside the pyramid. He followed a descending passage all the way to the main burial chamber at its core.

This would be his new residence.

Countless wooden planks flew in from outside the pyramid once more. Under the control of his will, they began to furnish the interior. The planks were cut and pieced together, forming the basic shapes of a bed, tables, chairs, and bookshelves.

He then took out some of his own furniture from his storage bag, placing each piece in the burial chamber. Finally, he set up the Frost Jade Bed from his cave abode right in the center of the room.

The basic framework of a bedroom was now complete, but it wasn’t enough.

Lin Qingfeng stretched out a hand. Countless wooden strips flew over and were molded into the shapes of pipes and wiring in his hands, which he then affixed all over the walls and ceiling.

He took out some low-grade Talismans and placed them one by one at the junctions of the "pipes." The Talismans emitted a faint red glow in the darkness.

He then took out many lanterns of different colors and hung them from the ceiling in an artful, staggered arrangement. Inside the lanterns were glowing stones that emitted light of various hues.

The faint red light of the Talismans and the blue-green halos of the lanterns intertwined in the dark chamber, casting a dappled and colorful array of light and shadows.

’Looking at this, it kind of feels like home. Not bad, not bad at all.’ A hopeful smile appeared on Lin Qingfeng’s face.

He was already starting to imagine the look of pure surprise on his junior sister’s face tomorrow morning when she saw the "guest room" extension he’d built for her home.

’But just having a landmark building is too boring.’

’Since this is my junior sister’s hometown, I should add a little flair. Maybe organize a competition to bolster her reputation as the "Holy Daughter of the Guixi Sect."’

Lin Qingfeng’s figure reappeared at the apex of the pyramid. He fished a massive luminous gem out of his storage bag and placed it on the very tip.

And then... three items suddenly appeared in Lin Qingfeng’s hands.

...

「Meanwhile, at the Celestial Furnace Sect.」

Dong Changsheng knelt inside Mr. Huohua’s cave abode, his heart filled with endless gratitude.

He still couldn’t quite believe that an elder of the Celestial Furnace Sect had taken a liking to him, even accepting him as a Direct Disciple. But he knew he bore the final wishes of his former Sect Leader and had received the profound grace of Mr. Huohua’s patronage.

’It’s true! People may bully the kind, but Heaven does not! The wicked may be feared by men, but they are not feared by Heaven! I must cultivate diligently, avenge my Sect Leader in the future, ease my new master’s burdens, and walk the path to greatness!’

Just then, the voice of the Sect Leader came from outside Mr. Huohua’s cave abode. Mr. Huohua called out in reply and hurriedly departed.

After respectfully seeing his master off, Dong Changsheng finally rose from the floor and excitedly picked up the items on the table.

A copy of the *Celestial Furnace Sect Heart Skill*, a handwritten copy of *Initial Understanding of Beast Fire* penned by the elder himself, and a volume of *Alchemy Insights*. These were all gifts his master had just bestowed upon him!

He carried the three secret manuals back to his own quarters, his hands trembling with excitement. He carefully placed the manuals on his desk, preparing to bathe and change his clothes before delving into these supreme techniques.

Dong Changsheng turned and walked toward the inner room. The very moment he turned his back, the three manuals on the desk dissolved into a faint glimmer of light and vanished.

A moment later, Dong Changsheng emerged from the inner room, having changed into a clean Daoist robe. He rubbed his hands together and eagerly walked toward his desk. Then, he froze.

The desk was completely empty.

’Where are the books? Where are my three big books?!’

The smile on Dong Changsheng’s face froze. He began to search his room frantically.

Under the bed, nothing. In the cabinet, nothing. He turned the entire room upside down, even prying up the floor tiles to check, but still found nothing. Had the three manuals just vanished into thin air?

Dong Changsheng stood in the middle of the trashed room, completely dumbfounded.

’Wait, do people steal things even in a great righteous sect like this? I hadn’t even warmed them up in my hands yet!’

...

「Anhe City, atop the pyramid.」

Three booklets materialized in Lin Qingfeng’s hands—the very spoils of war automatically retrieved from Dong Changsheng via the Fate-Seeking Silk.

He flipped through them. ’*Alchemy Insights*?’ He curled his lip. ’This stuff is useless. Maybe I’ll toss it to my junior brother and sister later?’

He glanced at *Initial Understanding of Beast Fire*. ’Hmm, some techniques for using beast fire to strengthen oneself. Looks pretty ordinary, too. I can recycle this for the juniors as well.’

Finally, his gaze fell on the *Celestial Furnace Sect Heart Skill*. ’Useless, utterly useless.’

’I might as well use these three things, along with this luminous gem, as the prizes for that race I’m setting up. Of course, how could I not play a game I created myself? I have to compete in it too!’

Having made up his mind, he placed the three booklets and the luminous gem together at the pyramid’s apex, and even set up a simple restrictive seal with Magic.

...

Next up was building the racetrack.

Using the massive floating platform beneath the pyramid as a starting point, Lin Qingfeng began to lay down an aerial track. The track would sometimes shoot straight forward into the clouds, and other times twist and spiral in the air, forming a giant corkscrew.

Lin Qingfeng also added all sorts of obstacles to the track: a narrow passage that could only be traversed by crawling sideways, and an array of plum blossom poles—a field of wooden stakes of varying heights.

There were also several large wooden rings suspended in the air that contestants had to leap through to continue. The entire track twisted and turned, sprawling wantonly through the skies above Anhe City.

Lin Qingfeng then built half-height wooden railings on both sides of the track to prevent anyone from losing their footing and falling. On the outside of some of the trickiest curves, he even added extended buffer platforms.

This way, even if someone couldn’t brake in time and went flying off the track, a platform would be there to catch them. At least they wouldn’t fall to their deaths from hundreds of meters up. ’Though, for a fall from this height,’ he mused, ’I could probably get the Red Bull Sect to sponsor a crossover event.’

The finish line of the track was the top of the pyramid.

The starting line, meanwhile, followed the wooden track as it extended ever downward, passing through the clouds and finally landing at the entrance to Anhe City’s south gate.

To prevent the track from being accidentally destroyed, Lin Qingfeng filled the gaps in the wooden structure with sand and gravel, then used Magic to solidify it, making the entire course more stable.

And just like that... an aerial obstacle course that stretched across heaven and earth... the guest room for his junior sister’s home was now complete!
