Chapter 772: I Always Keep My Word

The person outside, who had been using a silencing device on the door, suddenly removed it and walked past the doorway openly. He glanced at the sword in Xu Huo’s hand, lifted his brows and smiled, “Don’t be so tense, I’m just passing by.”

Xu Huo already smelled blood.

Seeing his gaze sweep toward the adjacent room, the baby-faced female player smiled brightly and said, “People who mind their own business usually live longer in the game.”

“Only those with self-awareness live long,” Xu Huo put away the Crimson Sword, “Do you think Random Dungeons are only for low-level players?”

The baby-faced one’s smile didn’t change. “Let’s talk like civilized people. So violent. Are you reading a book here? Then I won’t disturb you.”

After saying that she hopped away, returned to Raincoat Man’s side, and even pointed back toward Xu Huo. Raincoat Man then turned and nodded toward Xu Huo from a distance.

Xu Huo ignored them. Lu Zhen, who came over beside him, happened to see the corpse inside the room and instinctively covered her mouth before saying, “They...”

“Never seen a dead person?” Xu Huo walked over to take a look. There were no signs of a struggle in the room; this player had died cleanly.

There were over twenty people in the villa, but a good portion of players could read the situation at a glance. Given the players who died last night and this corpse, being chosen as a target was not surprising.

“Not everything’s happened yet, right? Why rush to kill?” Lu Zhen thought at least two or three days would pass before murders appeared, since being shut in for two or three days would starve both food and spirit.

“Narrow the scope,” Xu Huo said, “The fewer the people, the shorter each person’s turn will be.”

Lu Zhen swallowed. “Why hasn’t anyone left yet?”

Logically, the player who became the “temporary master” last night should have completed their task by eight this morning and the dungeon should have been clear. “Could they have violated the rules unknowingly? Or are they staying to kill people and scoop up loot?”

That didn’t matter. Xu Huo cared more about the game’s requirements for the “temporary master.” The first person to become the temporary master should benefit most. Right now, everyone was probing or waiting for someone to probe the rules. As long as you stayed in your room until dawn, you’d count as successful. After all, it’s a Random Dungeon; clearing it is more important.

Unless the game had additional requirements for the temporary master that prevented the chosen player from safely staying in the room until morning.

By eight this morning, the villa should have had a second temporary master.

Xu Huo returned to the living room. Looking over the players, some seated, some standing, there were too many targets to lock onto.

Suddenly a scream came from upstairs, followed by a man’s teasing voice and a woman’s angry shout. Several players who had been about to go check upstairs stopped in their tracks, exchanged knowing smiles, and decided not to get involved.

A few people hesitated, but no one went up.

Some people’s gazes began to circle around the female players in the living room.

“You let people die and don’t help?” The Alluring Female Player twirled a fake flower she’d somehow found. “I tell you men, why do you all have your brains down there? Didn’t you learn the wisdom of your elders? Lust sits on a chopping block.”

No sooner had she finished speaking than another scream came from upstairs, a male player this time. A female player then jumped down from the second floor; her clothes were torn and her face bore signs of being beaten. Three men followed her, one of them missing two fingertips and looking the angriest. He strode downstairs and flung an item that locked the woman’s feet.

The female player fell and threw out a flying knife, but the man sneered, “Thought I’d fall for that!”

The flying knife was drawn toward a magnet. The man took a few steps forward, grabbed the woman by the hair, and tore her clothes off. “Let’s see where you run to today!”

As he flipped the woman over and was about to mount her, someone suddenly gripped the back of his neck, five fingers clasping tightly. “Killing is nothing special, your method’s a little ugly.”

Just that one sentence—no chance for response and no mercy left. In the next second, the man’s cervical vertebrae snapped with a crisp sound and his head jerked sharply to the right, landing facing the man who stood to his right.

Xu Huo loosened his grip and let the corpse fall, clapped his hands, and looked at the other two players.

Their expressions shifted uncertainly, but after hesitating they fell silent and left obediently.

The injured female player finally sat up, covered herself, and thanked Xu Huo. Her face was badly swollen but she didn’t cry; she showed no reaction to the surrounding looks, whether sympathetic or indifferent.

Lu Zhen put her own coat around the woman, but the female player smiled slightly. “Good deeds don’t always get rewarded. Maybe someone set this scene to lure players who let their guards down.”

Lu Zhen shook her head. “Do you want me to help you?”

The woman stood on her own, wiped the blood from her lip, and silently went to the bathroom.

“These people are despicable!” Lu Zhen muttered angrily. “Why don’t they pick on men instead!”

“Oh sister, this kind of thing happens not only inside the game but outside it too, can’t be helped.” The Alluring Female Player leaned on the sofa and said to her, “Especially someone who looks easy to bully like you. But… the guy sharing your room is pretty strong. You’ve got luck on your side.”

Lu Zhen had nothing to say.

The Alluring Female Player then teased Xu Huo, “Handsome, why don’t you come to my room today?”

Xu Huo glanced at her. “Okay.”

Her face froze for a moment, one brow lifting. “Did I hear that right?”

“You did.” Xu Huo smiled, “I always keep my word. If I don’t go today, I’ll go tomorrow. Wait for me.”

The Alluring Female Player’s playful expression drained completely; she glared at him for two seconds before saying, “Fine, if you’ve got the nerve, come!”

Compared to her anger, Xu Huo’s relaxed tone was like arranging a dinner date. After the plan was set, he went up to the third floor.

Seven bedrooms on the second floor were occupied by players, leaving eight people to go up to the third floor.

The first floor had the maid’s room; the second floor was all guest rooms, so the master’s room should be on the third floor.

Generally the master’s floor wouldn’t have many guest rooms. The third floor had fewer rooms than the second; at least a third of its area was taken up by an indoor swimming pool. From the remaining rooms’ layout, three of them looked like master rooms, though two of those had already been occupied.

The young player who used a dagger walked over. “Does my room attract you?”

“It’s nicely decorated,” Xu Huo said.

“Of course, it’s the best room on the third floor,” the young player said. “That move you just showed was pretty good. Interested in teaming up with me?”
