Chapter 164: Elesa: Miori, Are You Going to Stop Me? (Power Stone Milestone Extra - 1/2)
The video continued playing.
Not far from the passage leading to the rear entrance.
Elesa stood in the middle of the road, while Miori’s Emolga happily circled above her head.
"I’ll ask you one more time."
Elesa’s voice was calm.
"Who ordered you to illegally transport Pokémon through Nimbasa City?"
The Team Plasma members huddled in the corner, shaking their heads like rattles.
Elesa swept her gaze across the area once more. Eventually, her eyes settled on Miori, who was walking toward them.
Their gazes met for one second.
Miori adjusted her sunglasses, her expression perfectly composed.
Elesa raised an eyebrow ever so slightly.
"And who might this be?"
Elesa tilted her head as she studied Miori, the corners of her lips curving upward.
Miori stood perfectly straight and answered in Shiny Shinyko’s deliberately lowered voice:
"I am Shiny Shinyko, a trainee member. I have been ordered to prevent you from proceeding any farther."
Elesa blinked.
"Shiny Shinyko? What an adorable name."
"Thank you for the compliment, but that isn’t important."
Miori adjusted her sunglasses.
"Leader of Nimbasa Gym, I will not allow you to pass through here."
"Oh?"
Elesa gathered Emolga into her arms and tapped her chin with one finger.
"And how exactly do you intend to stop me?"
A young police officer nearby had already taken out his handcuffs, but Elesa raised a hand to stop him.
"Go inside and arrest the others," Elesa instructed. "I’ll handle Miss Shiny Shinyko myself."
An older officer nodded before quickly leading the other police officers away.
In less than three minutes, only the mother and daughter remained in the empty clearing—
Along with an Emolga eagerly watching the show.
[VIP Chat Group]
[May]: It’s here! It’s finally here! A battle between mother and daughter! I was wondering whether Miori would run into Elesa while guarding the rear entrance, and it actually happened!
[Valerie]: This isn’t merely an accidental encounter. It is destiny made inevitable.
[Diantha]: Miori confidently declared that she wouldn’t let anyone pass even if her own mother appeared—and then her mother genuinely appeared.
[Skyla]: Miori and Elesa truly were carved from the same mold. They’re both such dramatic performers.
[Elesa]: Since when am I a dramatic performer?
[Skyla]: The evidence is playing directly in front of you, and you’re still refusing to admit it?
[Diantha]: Everyone goes through a phase like this after entering Asher’s household. It’s perfectly normal.
[Lorelei]: That’s surprisingly true.
[Elesa]: ...
The video continued playing.
"Oh my."
Elesa tilted her head.
"You’re such an adorable child that I’m almost reluctant to hurt you."
"You jest, Gym Leader."
Miori kept her voice perfectly steady.
"I may be only a trainee member, but it is my duty to protect my teammates while they retreat."
Elesa raised an eyebrow.
This child’s acting skills had certainly improved.
"Very well."
Elesa placed Emolga on the steps beside them.
"If you insist on remaining stubborn, I won’t hold back."
She removed a Poké Ball from her waist and threw it into the air.
Red light flashed.
Zebstrika landed in the clearing, releasing a ring of fine electrical arcs as its four hooves struck the ground.
Miori also took out a Poké Ball and threw it.
Another flash of red light erupted.
Aegislash floated in midair, a cold, ghostly blue light flowing across its blade.
"Aegislash, use Shadow Sneak."
Miori seized the initiative.
Aegislash’s shadow suddenly stretched across the ground, surging toward Zebstrika like a bolt of black lightning.
"Zebstrika, dodge with Quick Attack."
Elesa’s voice remained light.
Zebstrika transformed into a white blur and darted aside. The shadowy blade struck the ground, leaving behind a shallow mark.
"Thunderbolt," Elesa immediately commanded.
Zebstrika released a long neigh as golden electricity surged directly toward Aegislash.
Miori reacted just as quickly.
"King’s Shield!"
Aegislash instantly changed Formes, unfolding a honeycomb-patterned shield of light in front of itself.
Thunderbolt struck the shield and erupted into a dazzling shower of golden sparks.
The barrier didn’t move in the slightest.
Elesa blinked.
"Not bad."
"Thank you for the compliment."
Miori raised one hand.
"Now it’s our turn. Use Sacred Sword."
Aegislash returned to its sword-like Forme.
A brilliant ghostly blue blade of energy appeared along its edge as it slashed directly toward Zebstrika.
"Meet it with Wild Charge," Elesa commanded, raising her hand as well.
Golden electricity enveloped Zebstrika’s entire body as it charged directly into Aegislash’s Sacred Sword.
The two attacks collided in the middle of the passageway and exploded.
The resulting shock wave nearly sent Emolga—still eagerly watching from the sidelines—flying from the steps.
Miori gave her opponent no opportunity to recover.
"Shadow Sneak!"
"Protect!"
A pale-green barrier enveloped Zebstrika.
Two shadowy blades struck the barrier with heavy impacts.
"Now, use Iron Head!"
Elesa seized the brief opening after Aegislash’s attack.
Zebstrika lowered its head and charged toward Aegislash.
"King’s Shield."
Miori’s voice remained steady.
Aegislash instantly shifted into its Shield Forme.
Iron Head struck its shield with an exceptionally heavy metallic crash.
The recoil sent Zebstrika staggering backward several steps.
"Zebstrika, use Flame Charge."
Elesa clicked her tongue before issuing another command.
Flames enveloped Zebstrika’s body as it rushed toward Aegislash.
Miori remained perfectly calm.
"Aegislash, use Sacred Sword on the ground."
Aegislash slashed its Sacred Sword into the earth.
A massive gash split open across the ground, sending fragments of stone flying in every direction.
Zebstrika instinctively twisted aside to evade the debris, interrupting the momentum of its Flame Charge.
"Now, use Sacred Sword again!"
Sword light flashed.
Sacred Sword struck Zebstrika head-on, sending it flying sideways into a shipping container with a tremendous crash.
Zebstrika struggled back to its feet and shook the dust from its mane.
Miori immediately pressed her advantage.
"Aegislash, use Shadow Sneak!"
"Zebstrika, jump!"
Elesa hurriedly issued the order.
Zebstrika pushed off with all four hooves and leaped high into the air, avoiding Shadow Sneak.
However, Miori had no intention of giving it time to adjust.
"Use Aerial Ace!"
Aegislash transformed into a silver arc of light and curved back through the air.
Its blade struck Zebstrika directly across the back.
Zebstrika plummeted from the air and crashed heavily onto the ground.
It struggled to rise but ultimately collapsed, spirals replacing its eyes.
Seeing this, Miori excitedly thrust one arm into the air.
"I won!!"
Elesa smiled as she recalled Zebstrika.
She then began walking toward Miori one unhurried step at a time.
"Miss Shiny Shinyko’s strength was certainly unexpected."
Miori instinctively took half a step backward.
Something was wrong.
She knew that smile far too well.
Whenever Miori made a mistake and her mother caught her, Elesa always wore that exact smile.
Miori decisively turned around and ran.
Elesa precisely caught her by the back of her collar.
Miori’s legs continued running from sheer momentum for another two steps before she finally went limp.
Emolga covered its eyes with both front paws, leaving an extremely narrow gap between them.
The corner of Elesa’s mouth rose.
"Running away immediately after winning isn’t very becoming of a Gym Leader."
"What Gym Leader? I have no idea what you’re talking about."
Miori continued struggling.
"Is that so?"
Elesa used her free hand to remove Miori’s sunglasses.
"How about now?"
Miori stopped struggling.
She slowly turned her head and gave Elesa an exceptionally brilliant smile.
"Mom. What a coincidence."
