The video continued playing.

"Control them?"

Asher shook his head.

"All I can do is guide the two dragons toward choosing new heroes. Whether the people they choose actually want to shoulder that responsibility has always been up to them."

"Exactly!"

Steven immediately leaned in.

"If Brother Asher really wanted to control them, he would’ve tied up Reshiram and Zekrom and delivered them straight to Miori ages ago! Why would he bother waiting until now?"

Wallace nodded.

"Steven’s wording may be crude, but logically speaking, he does have a point."

"What do you mean, crude? I call that easy to understand!"

Steven protested.

Miori watched her two uncles begin bickering as though no one else were around and silently raised one hand.

"Um... Uncles, shouldn’t we deal with the important matter first?"

"Right, right. Business first."

Steven immediately composed himself.

"Niece Miori, carry on. Your uncle is here to back you up."

Wallace gave an elegant little bow.

"Please, continue."

Miori turned back toward N.

Before she could speak, Kyurem suddenly released an exceptionally deep roar.

Immediately afterward, the entirety of Dragonspiral Tower began shaking violently.

The fissure created by the collision of the two pillars of light above the dome was expanding at a rate visible to the naked eye.

"Looks like the battle just now has pushed the tower’s seal to the brink of complete collapse."

Asher looked upward.

"Steven, Wallace—take Miori and get out first."

"Dad!"

Miori had barely begun to protest when Asher raised a hand and cut her off.

"This isn’t a discussion. It’s an order."

Asher turned toward her.

"Mio, you and N can settle your confrontation later. But if the seal completely collapses, everything within roughly fifty kilometers of Dragonspiral Tower will be swallowed by spacetime turbulence."

Miori opened her mouth, still wanting to argue, but Steven grabbed her by the arm.

"Listen to your dad. Let’s go."

For once, Steven wasn’t smiling or joking around as he pulled Miori toward the opening in the tower.

Wallace gestured toward N as well.

After hesitating for half a second, N ultimately followed them.

Outside, the sky had already changed color.

Fine cracks in space continuously burst into existence around the point where the two pillars of light collided.

Only after everyone had evacuated the tower did Asher take something from inside his coat.

The DNA Splicers.

Asher held them up before Kyurem.

Kyurem lowered its head, and the DNA Splicers immediately transformed into several intersecting blue rings of light that spun around one another before merging into its body.

"Old Popsicle, let’s try the white one first."

Asher tilted his chin toward Reshiram.

After fusing with Reshiram, Kyurem’s body rapidly transformed within the light, the left side of its body becoming covered in Reshiram’s feather-like structures.

White Kyurem opened its mouth.

A Fusion Flare blasted directly toward the fissure in the dome.

The flames exploded against the fissure’s edges.

Its expansion did slow for an instant—

But immediately afterward, it began tearing apart even faster than before.

"No good."

Asher’s expression didn’t change.

"Switch to the black one."

Kyurem separated from Reshiram.

Immediately afterward, Zekrom was fused into its body instead.

Black Kyurem spread its wings.

Fusion Bolt slammed into the fissure, once again halting its expansion.

But after a brief stalemate, the energy within the fissure instead became even more violent.

Fragments breaking away from its edges began devouring Black Kyurem’s electricity in reverse.

"Still no good."

Asher’s tone remained completely casual.

"As expected, the power of a single fusion isn’t enough to suppress the energy causing the fissure to spread."

Then Asher took out a second object.

It was an extremely small, completely transparent, prism-shaped crystal core.

Within it flowed a faint radiance of indescribable color, seemingly suspended somewhere between existence and nothingness.

"I secretly pried this off Arceus."

Asher lowered his voice as he merged the crystal core into Kyurem’s body.

"I was planning to keep it as a souvenir. Lucky you, Old Popsicle."

The instant the crystal core entered Kyurem’s chest—

It was as though spacetime throughout Dragonspiral Tower had been frozen.

Reshiram and Zekrom simultaneously sensed the power.

The two Pokémon transformed into pillars of light that pierced downward from the top of the tower and entered Kyurem’s body at the same moment.

Kyurem’s body rapidly expanded within the radiance.

It stretched.

Changed.

Reconstructed itself.

Until finally—

The Original Dragon.

The primordial body that had existed before Reshiram and Zekrom separated.

The ancient legend of the Unova region—

Had, for one fleeting moment, returned to the world.

[VIP Chat Group]

[Alder]: The Original Dragon? That’s really the living Original Dragon?!!

[Professor Juniper]: Theoretically speaking, once Reshiram and Zekrom separated, their original form should have ceased to exist entirely. A power capable of reuniting them has already exceeded the limits of modern scientific understanding.

[Steven]: Brother Asher can even pry pieces off Arceus. Is there anything he can’t do? I suggest every Professor submit their research papers to Brother Asher for approval before publishing them from now on. Save yourselves the embarrassment of getting disproven afterward.

[Leon]: @Lance, what does the Dragon Master have to say about this?

[Lance]: ...I have nothing to say.

[Bruno]: Stop pretending, Lance! That’s the Original Dragon! Just getting to see the legendary Original Dragon with my own eyes makes me feel like my life has been worthwhile, let alone you!

[Clair]: My cousin’s expression right now is probably exactly the same as the first time he saw a Dragonite evolve—completely unshakable on the outside, while fireworks are exploding inside his head.

[Lance]: Clair, haven’t you been talking a little too much today?

The video continued playing.

"Old Popsicle."

Asher leaped onto the Original Dragon’s neck.

"Time to work."

The Original Dragon flew into the sky.

Then it opened its mouth.

A pillar of light erupted from deep within its throat.

Three different energies intertwined in the air, forming an enormous spiraling beam that blasted directly toward the ever-expanding spacetime fissure.

The instant the beam collided with the fissure—

The entire sky went dark.

Then, the shattered fragments around the fissure’s edges began contracting inward.

Finally, accompanied by an exceptionally deep rumble—

The fissure completely closed.

At the final instant before it sealed, the Original Dragon withdrew its attack.

It then slowly descended onto the open ground in front of Dragonspiral Tower.

Asher jumped down from its neck.

His expression remained as lazy as ever, as though he had merely taken his dragon out for a casual walk.

"DAD!!!"

Miori’s eyes were red.

But she charged over so quickly that Asher hadn’t even managed to steady himself before she slammed into him, forcing him half a step backward.

Asher didn’t say anything.

He merely reached out and gently ruffled Miori’s hair.

"Silly girl. Your dad isn’t dead. What are you crying for?"

"Who’s crying?!"

Her eyes were still shimmering with moisture, but Miori quickly wiped the corners of them with her sleeve.

Then she began examining the enormous dragon behind Asher, which was breathing slightly heavily.

"So this is the legendary Original Dragon?"

Miori raised her head to look at it, a hint of restraint entering her voice.

"Mm. But only temporarily."

Asher raised a hand and patted the Original Dragon’s foreleg.

"All right. My daughter’s here now."

"Give me back Zekrom."

The Original Dragon released a short snort through its nostrils.

Then its entire body began glowing.

Zekrom and Reshiram separated from Kyurem once again.

Zekrom lowered its head.

Its dark-red eyes stared at Miori from extremely close range.

Miori took an empty Poké Ball from her waist and held it up before Zekrom.

Back inside Dragonspiral Tower, Miori and Zekrom had already confirmed their feelings and chosen one another.

There was nothing more that needed to be said.

Zekrom raised one claw—

And pressed the button in the center of the Poké Ball itself.

Red light flashed.

The Poké Ball didn’t shake even once.

It immediately released a crisp—

Ding!

Miori raised the Poké Ball high above her head, an exceptionally brilliant smile spreading across her face.

"Zekrom—I caught you!"
