The video continued playing.

After the meeting ended, the people in the Dome Conference Hall gradually began filing out.

Ash was the first one to bolt through the doors, with Iris right behind him.

Lance watched the two young Champions disappear into the distance, rubbed his temples, and began gathering up the stack of documents in front of him that he had barely managed to read a few pages of.

Asher rose from the chairman’s seat and rolled his neck.

He was just about to slip away through a side door when a rapid series of footsteps sounded behind him.

"Brother Asher! Wait! Wait for me!"

Steven jogged after him and grabbed Asher by the sleeve.

"Brother Asher, I have something important to discuss with you!"

Asher stopped and turned around.

His lazy expression instantly became serious.

"Steven, how many times have I told you? At work, address me by my title!"

Steven froze.

Then, within a single second, he completely got into character and immediately stood at attention.

"Yes, Chairman."

"Mm."

Asher patted him on the shoulder.

"What is it?"

"Hehe, it’s nothing major."

Steven rubbed his hands together.

"It’s about my daughter, Ruri. Could you look after her for a few days?"

Asher raised an eyebrow.

"Aren’t you busy digging for rocks all day? You actually have time to raise a daughter?"

"That’s exactly because I’m busy digging for rocks all day!"

The moment Steven said this, his expression became unbearably pained.

"Brother Asher, you have no idea how difficult that girl has been lately! Just last week, she took a Dawn Stone from my collection and used it as a paperweight!"

"Brother Asher, can you understand how I felt?! That was one of my most treasured pieces!"

"Oh."

Asher nodded.

"For you, that really is tragic."

"Exactly!"

Steven pressed his palms together and bowed deeply toward Asher.

"Brother Asher, I’m begging you! Let Elaria play with my daughter for a few days!"

"My daughter might be mischievous, but she’s incredibly gentle with Pokémon. She absolutely won’t bully Elaria!"

Asher leaned against the corridor wall and folded his arms.

"Steven, you’re putting me in a difficult position here. You know I have to discuss something like this with my wife first."

"Brother Asher, don’t worry! When has your brother ever made you take a loss?"

Steven straightened up.

"I’ll pay you! Hourly!"

"I don’t need money."

Steven gritted his teeth.

He seemed to make some enormous decision.

Planting both hands against the wall, he spoke with the determination of a man putting absolutely everything on the line.

"One month! I’ll cover your duties as chairman for an entire month!"

"I’ll attend every meeting for you. All you’ll have to do is sign the paperwork!"

At last, a satisfied smile appeared on Asher’s face.

"Deal."

[VIP Chat Group]

[Leon]: Seriously?! Steven is ignoring his own work as Champion just to go cover Asher’s shifts?!

[Raihan]: Judging by how naturally those two negotiated that, this definitely isn’t their first time doing it.

[Wallace]: I can understand Steven doing something like this. What I can’t understand is—

[Wallace]: He actually has a daughter too?!

[Steven]: Wallace, what exactly is that supposed to mean? Why can’t I have a daughter? Am I not handsome enough?

[Wallace]: Your obsession with rocks alone is more than most normal women could tolerate. What woman would put up with a husband who sleeps hugging rocks every night?

[Steven]: You never know! What if I meet a woman who loves rocks just as much as I do?

[Phoebe]: The odds of that are probably lower than Garchomp learning Dragon Dance.

[Glacia]: Hahaha! Phoebe really does love telling people the harsh truth!

The scene changed.

Asher’s living room.

Diantha sat on the sofa reading through a script.

Even while she was still on maternity leave, Diantha had no intention of simply letting her acting skills gather dust.

Just then—

The doorbell rang.

Diantha put down the script, walked to the entrance, and opened the door.

Steven stood outside.

Half-hidden behind him was a little girl who looked around three or four years old.

The girl cautiously peeked out from behind Steven, staring timidly at Diantha while her fingers clutched tightly onto the hem of Steven’s suit jacket.

"Hello, Sister-in-law!"

Steven wore an extremely ingratiating smile.

"Is Brother Asher home?"

"He hasn’t come back yet."

Diantha lowered her gaze toward the little girl.

"This must be Ruri, right?"

"Yes, yes."

Steven gently nudged his daughter out from behind him.

"Ruri, say hello to Auntie."

"Hello, Auntie."

Ruri gave a perfectly proper bow.

Her voice was soft and sweet, making her look for all the world like a perfectly obedient little angel.

"Hello."

Diantha crouched down until she was at eye level with Ruri.

"Did you come here to play with Elaria?"

Ruri’s eyes immediately lit up.

However, she first looked up at Steven.

Steven wiggled his eyebrows encouragingly at her.

Only then did Ruri nod vigorously.

"Then come inside."

Diantha stepped aside to let her through.

Steven handed Ruri’s backpack over, then immediately took a step backward.

"Sister-in-law, I’ll be going now. I’ll come back tonight to pick her up."

"You’re not coming inside for a while?"

"No, no!"

Steven hurriedly waved his hands.

"There’s still League business I need to deal with, so I’ll be going now—Ruri, behave yourself while you’re at Auntie’s house!"

"Don’t go rummaging through things without permission, understand?"

"Understood!"

Ruri nodded vigorously.

Steven turned around and ran.

He moved so quickly that before Diantha could even say "goodbye," his figure had already vanished around the end of the corridor.

Diantha stared blankly after him.

What was that about?

Why did she get the strange feeling that Steven was actually a little afraid of his own daughter?

Diantha closed the door.

Then she took Ruri by the hand and led her into the middle of the living room.

Elaria was sitting on the carpet with Ralts in her arms.

Hoopa floated in midair nearby, using telekinesis to stack building blocks one by one.

"Elaria, an older sister came to play with you today."

Diantha crouched down and spoke softly.

Elaria turned toward Ruri.

Ruri stared back at the tiny baby who still couldn’t speak.

The two girls simply looked at one another for about three seconds.

Elaria was the first to move.

She raised the building block in her hand and waved it toward Ruri.

Ruri released Diantha’s hand and walked over to the edge of the carpet.

She crouched down, reached into her pocket, and pulled out a sparkling stone.

Then she placed it into Elaria’s palm.

"I took this from Daddy’s collection room. You can have it and use it as a marble."

Elaria lowered her head and stared at the glittering stone in her palm.

Then she looked back up at Ruri—

And gave her an extraordinarily bright smile.

"Eeya! Eeya!"

Hoopa floated over and circled Ruri once.

Then it reached out with one tiny hand and poked her hair.

"This big sister is so cute~"

Hoopa rubbed its hands together excitedly.

"Want Hoopa to show you a magic trick?"

Ruri’s eyes lit up.

"What kind of magic trick?"

Hoopa grinned.

It swept both tiny hands through the air—

And a golden ring appeared out of nowhere.

The next second—

A Krabby nearly half as tall as a person fell straight through the ring.

It landed flat on its back with a thud, both pincers flailing wildly through the air.

Then, just as suddenly—

It vanished again.

Ruri froze for one second.

Then she started clapping.

"Amazing! Do another one!"

"No problem!"

Hoopa proudly puffed out its chest and drew another golden ring through the air.

This time, what fell through—

Was a Berry bigger than Ruri’s entire head.

Standing nearby, Diantha watched Hoopa playing with the two little girls and quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

From the looks of things—

Elaria and Ruri were getting along wonderfully.

She probably wouldn’t have to worry too much about them.
