When Mu Shaohan pushed the door open, Xue Xiangtong was still animatedly talking.

"Fifth Brother..."

Xue Xiangtong jumped up and gave him a hug, "Fifth Brother, you’re so inconsiderate! You’ve returned to the Imperial City and didn’t even arrange a gathering with us. Have you become so used to being an honest official that you don’t have money to treat us to a meal?"

Mu Shaohan laughed, "You, you still talk so much! The President has important matters to attend to, you should stop teasing."

"I got it, Fifth Brother." Xue Xiangtong nodded, "I’ll be going now, won’t disturb your work."

She turned to Pei Zhe, "Your Excellency, you’ll always be our most respected team leader! Keep it up! We’re all supporting you!"

Pei Zhe smiled, wanting to say something but ultimately said nothing.

Xue Xiangtong walked several steps, then ran back, "Oh right, before I came over, I saw Han Han. I asked if she had anything she wanted to say to you. Want to guess what she said?"

"What did she say?" Up to this point, Pei Zhe hadn’t received any word concerning her.

Hearing Xue Xiangtong bring her up sparked a sense of anticipation in him.

Though it didn’t show on his face, inside he felt a flicker of hope.

Xue Xiangtong smiled, "She said, she believes in you."

In an instant, Pei Zhe’s heart warmed up.

Even if it’s not about love, Mu Anhan’s magnanimity is something few women can compare to.

She believes in him.

Just that one sentence is enough for Pei Zhe to face all sorts of difficult predicaments.

Xue Xiangtong left, and Pei Zhe revealed a knowing smile.

"Tong Tong, this is from His Excellency for you, take it home!" Mu Shaohan brought out some bags.

Xue Xiangtong looked, "Wow, all are top-quality custom-made for the higher-ups. My dad is truly fortunate to have encountered such a good president. Thank you, Fifth Brother, I won’t be polite then."

She saw items like premium cigarette, wine, tea, and some health supplements.

"You’re welcome, I’ll help you carry them to the car." Mu Shaohan said.

"Thank you, Fifth Brother!" Xue Xiangtong said happily.

"How’s Old Six doing?" Mu Shaohan asked as he was putting things away.

Xue Xiangtong paused, "Fifth Brother..."

Mu Shaohan looked at her, a bit embarrassed, but she still answered, "Sixth Brother is filming, it’s Han Han’s investment. He should be quite enjoying the filming life!"

"Alright, off you go!" Mu Shaohan urged her.

Xue Xiangtong drove the items home first, to bring some joy to her parents. After all, these were gifts from the President!

While at a traffic light, she sent a message to Mu Shaojie: [Sixth Brother, I went to the President Mansion today and saw Fifth Brother.]

Mu Shaojie didn’t reply immediately; he was still filming and didn’t have his phone with him.

Actually, Xue Xiangtong thought that her relationship with Mu Shaojie was, how to say, more than friendship, but not quite lovers!

Anyway, there’s just something missing between them.

But it’s a bit more than purely friendship.

When she got home, her parents asked her to stay, and she sent a message to Mu Shaojie: [Sixth Brother, parents asked me to stay for dinner, so I’m staying at home tonight.]

She rented a small apartment near the police station for convenience when working.

And sometimes when Mu Shaojie wanted to eat her cooking, she didn’t have to go on field duty and could cook for him after work.

Since her relationship with Mu Shaojie wasn’t clear-cut, staying at home often would lead to questions from her parents, which she couldn’t easily answer.

Living on her own outside made things much easier.
