And then there is the revenue issue; doing only one surgery a day, especially a minor surgery, would not be acceptable to the hospital or department.

After all, you can’t raise someone just to eat and not produce?

Any hospital, whether public or private, will pursue efficiency.

In public hospitals, at least 70% of the expenses need to be covered by the hospital itself. The government might support at most about 30%.

In places with financial difficulties, it goes without saying.

Therefore, surgeons who are too slow will be eliminated. But there are some unique survivors.

For instance, Li Jingsheng knows a deputy chief physician working in the General Surgery at First Hospital. This person is famous for doing surgeries slowly.

Almost no doctors or nurses are willing to assist in surgeries with him.
