Chapter 453 - 451: Birth of the Children
She brought him up.
"Let’s wait a little longer," Javier Sinclair said. "With his current Cultivation, it shouldn’t be long before he ascends to this realm. Our son is a grown man now; you don’t need to worry about him."
Celeste Grant chuckled. "I’m not worried, I just miss him. I carried Annie for ten months. Don’t you miss him?"
"What nonsense are you talking?" Javier Sinclair gently patted her shoulder and said in a low voice, "Annie is my own son. What father in the world doesn’t miss his child?" He had raised their son for so long; his attachment was just as deep as hers.
As they talked, Celeste Grant leaned against him.
She rubbed her belly and murmured, "I’m so bored, Archfiend. Why don’t we go out and have some fun?" Suddenly, she sat up straight and turned to look at Javier Sinclair. "Oh, right. There’s something I almost forgot."
He raised an eyebrow slightly. "What is it?"
Hearing his question, Celeste Grant began, "It’s about that Fifi—pah, I mean Jocelyn Grant. Heh, I’ve gotten so used to calling her that I almost slipped up."
Javier Sinclair paused for a moment, then couldn’t help but ask, "You mean that unhinged Jocelyn Grant? Didn’t her body and soul already perish?"
Celeste Grant smiled. "Yes, she’s dead and gone, but her mother is still around. I’m talking about Jocelyn Grant’s mother, that woman named Eve Warren. Back in the Lower Realm, Eve Warren sent an avatar down to try and kill me."
As she spoke, she let out a sinister laugh and a snort. "Hmph. I hold a grudge. I swore that after I ascended to the Upper Realm, I’d deal with her. Now that I’m here, I won’t let her off the hook."
Hearing this, Javier Sinclair replied in a calm tone, "I’ll send my men to drag her back for you."
She waved her hand. "No need. Just get all the dirt on her. After the baby is born, I’ll deal with her myself."
This wasn’t a big deal to begin with. Hearing her decision, Javier Sinclair simply gave a slight nod. "Alright. As you wish."
「Two days later.」
Her belly still showed no signs of movement, with no indication that labor was imminent, just like before. However, the Third Elder of their Demonic Domain, Silas Reed, had brought her the details on that woman, Eve Warren.
At that moment, Silas Reed stood before Celeste Grant. The elder extended a hand, passing a Jade Scroll to Celeste. Silas Reed spoke, "Madam, The Exalted One ordered this subordinate to deliver this to you. It records everything about the woman named Eve Warren. We’ve even investigated her entire clan, down to the ninth degree of kinship."
"Let me see." She took the Jade Scroll and opened it. A stream of information flew from the scroll and into her mind. There was a lot to take in.
Jocelyn Grant’s mother was the eldest daughter of the Warren Family, from a remote backwater in the Immortal Domain. Her family might have been considered powerful in the Lower Realm, but here in the Upper Realm, they were just a minor family from the sticks. There were tens of thousands of such minor families in this world; in other words, her clan was inconspicuous and insignificant.
At first, everything seemed normal. The only abnormality was the sheer number of people she was entangled with.
After just one glance, Celeste Grant couldn’t help but exclaim.
"Holy crap."
"Tsk, tsk."
"This... I never would have imagined."
The rest was normal, but when it came to Jocelyn Grant’s mother’s love life... it was extensive. Even Celeste Grant felt she had to respectfully address the woman as a master in the field.
A Holy Land Elder, a junior brother from the Blade Sect, the senior brother of the Animus Sect, this City Lord, that Sword Master... The list of her lovers was endless; her romantic history was so packed there wasn’t a single gap.
She used to think Jocelyn Grant was wild, but her mother was the real bombshell. Jocelyn’s mother moved among those men like a fish in water, causing countless male cultivators to come to blows over her. In the end, those men even came to believe that they themselves had wronged her, forcing her to settle for someone else. Each of those male cultivators was secretly proud, convinced that he was the one Eve Warren truly loved most.
It seemed true that good women get a good reputation, while bad women get everything.
She had been engaged and had broken off engagements. She had borne a son for an elder from Sancthelm and cured a poison for a junior brother from the Blade Sect. She had given birth to a daughter for the senior brother of the Animus Sect and had even been a concubine to some City Lord.
In her life, Eve Warren had been with thirteen men and had borne children for ten of them.
Key point: her children were already grown, with her eldest son being over three hundred years old. However, most of these offspring were illegitimate, and only a few inherited any family property.
Perhaps because Jocelyn Grant’s mother’s love life was just so explosive, the Third Elder who had investigated her background had a lit-up expression. The elder’s normally calm and steady eyes were now burning with the flames of gossip.
The Third Elder cleared her throat and, unable to contain her curiosity, asked, "If I may be so bold, what is the relationship between this woman, Eve Warren, and you, Madam?"
"An old acquaintance." Celeste Grant nodded slightly, the corner of her lips curling into a sinister smile. "Back in the Lower Realm, I killed her daughter, and she sent an avatar down to try and take my life. So, you could say we’re old enemies."
Hearing that the female cultivator named Eve Warren had dared to descend to the Lower Realm to try and kill their Madam—how outrageous! The Third Elder’s anger instantly flared, and she couldn’t help but curse.
"What? The absolute audacity!"
"How utterly preposterous!"
"That shameless old hag dared to try and kill you, Madam? Does she think our Demonic Domain is empty?" As she spoke, she grabbed Celeste Grant’s hand with a grave expression. "Madam, you have been wronged. This subordinate will lead our people to flatten her entire clan and show her what it means for heads to start rolling. As for that shameless bitch, this subordinate will drag her back here, grind her bones to dust, and see to it her Divine Soul is utterly annihilated. Oh, and we’ll dig up her ancestral graves, too."
As she spoke, Celeste could feel the dense killing intent radiating from the elder.
’Excellent.’
’This is what a villain’s subordinate should be like. The first suggestion is a game of clan annihilation, complete with digging up ancestral graves. This temper... she’s definitely one of Javier Sinclair’s people, no doubt about it.’
She raised a hand to stop her.
"That won’t be necessary. Her clan is innocent. I only believe in one thing: I don’t bother those who don’t bother me. For now, the one who offended me is Eve Warren. As for everyone else, as long as they don’t provoke me, we can let it go. Of course, if they’re truly blind to the situation, then letting them ’win’ a round of clan annihilation isn’t out of the question."
’After all, she, Celeste Grant, was no saint either.’
’Still, this mother of Jocelyn Grant’s really has a lot of connections. Even if I wanted to keep a low profile, just confronting her would mean confronting all those men in her past. Looks like I’d better sharpen my blade. Otherwise, I won’t be able to cut through them all. Good thing I’m not alone.’
’Heh heh heh... The Demonic Domain might not have much else, but it has plenty of manpower.’
