Chapter 464 - 462: Celeste Grant, I Will Grind Your Bones to Dust and Scatter Your Ashes
Jocelyn Grant’s gaze swept over them, and she was satisfied.
’At least they know their place.’
The flaming wings on her back slowly retracted as she gently descended.
As her feet touched the ground, she spoke. "The Warren Family and I are bound by fate, it seems. This time, as this Princess descends to this world, I can grant you a great opportunity. I have come to the Lower Realm to settle some old scores and need people to do my bidding. There is a reason I chose you, but what it is, you need not know. You can work for this Princess. If you do your tasks well, you will become my people, and I can have your entire clan ascend to Empyria with a single word."
The entire clan ascending?
Everyone from the Warren Family gasped. But when they considered her identity, they suddenly realized that for someone like her, this was indeed a trivial matter.
In that moment, their fear turned to elation. If the Princess herself had said it, then it must be true. This was the Warren Family’s great opportunity, and they had to seize it.
"We swear to follow the Princess until death!"
"We are willing to go through fire and water for the Princess and would lay down our lives for her!"
Danger often comes hand in hand with opportunity.
The Warren Family had always been stuck in this remote region, where Cultivation Resources were scarce. It was time for them to rise up and seize a true blessed land of Cultivation. Ascending as a clan was too much to hope for, but perhaps they could one day become the number one Cultivator Noble House in the Immortal Domain and crush those Sects that once bullied them under their heel.
With a princess from Empyria as their backer, nothing was impossible.
At this thought, the Patriarch of the Warren Family was beside himself with excitement.
Their family was truly about to rise.
Kneeling on the ground, Eve Warren had a strange feeling.
’She couldn’t shake the feeling that this princess of the Golden Crow Clan was her daughter, Jocelyn. Why wouldn’t she acknowledge her, though? Is my daughter still mad at me? It makes sense... when she was in trouble, I wasn’t by her side to protect her. So even if Jocelyn still blames me, she has every right to.’
But a deep confusion remained in her heart.
’If she really is my daughter, how did she become a princess of the Golden Crow Clan? How could her father be an exalted Divine Monarch from Empyria?’
Just then, Jocelyn Grant walked over to Eve Warren. She looked down slightly, her voice laced with the condescension of one bestowing charity. "You, come with me. I have words for you."
Eve Warren stood up and replied respectfully, "Yes, Princess."
As if remembering something, Jocelyn Grant turned slightly, her gaze sweeping over the others. "From now on, I will give my orders directly to her. The eldest young lady of your family will relay my messages. Her words are this Princess’s will, and you need only obey unconditionally."
The kneeling members of the Warren Family hurriedly nodded and answered in deference, "Yes, we will obey the Princess’s command."
Jocelyn Grant glanced at Eve Warren and said coldly, "Take me to your residence."
Eve Warren nodded. "Alright."
’Facing this princess who looked so much like her daughter, she couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable. This princess was far too arrogant. Her Jocelyn would never treat her this way. She wouldn’t be so bossy and cold.’
They arrived at Eve Warren’s courtyard, and Jocelyn followed her into her chambers. Eve Warren had her servants bring in the family’s finest Spirit Fruits and tea.
Jocelyn waved a hand and sat down.
She lifted the cup, took a delicate sip, then frowned before setting it down. "Inferior tea. The Cloudleaf Tea from my Mother Consort’s palace is much better."
Eve Warren’s expression stiffened as she looked at the tea on the table. This tea was from Sancthelm; even in the entire Cultivation World, it was one of a kind. She never imagined that the princess would find it so undrinkable.
She let out a dry laugh. "Your Highness is of noble birth and accustomed to the Jadescent Nectar of Empyria. This tea is indeed unworthy of being served to you."
Hearing this,
Jocelyn Grant raised her eyes slightly. "Never mind. I suppose it’s passable." ’Her station was, of course, noble, but this place had nothing better to offer.’
’Passable?’
Eve Warren’s expression stiffened again.
Her heart ached.
’Is this the chasm between our statuses? It’s true, you can’t compare people. She herself was reluctant to drink this tea, normally only bringing it out to show off in front of outsiders. It was a treasure capable of improving one’s Cultivation and dispelling Heart Demons. A small family like the Warrens would never have something like this. The tea had been a gift from an elder of Sancthelm.’
Eve Warren started to sit, but a single glance from Jocelyn Grant froze her in place. She remained standing, not daring to move.
"What are the Princess’s orders? The Warren Family will see them done, even if it means our deaths."
Jocelyn Grant tapped her fingers lightly on the table. She glanced at Eve and said in a low voice, "There is one matter you are permitted to know." As she spoke, the face of that woman, Celeste Grant, flashed through her mind.
The memory of the pain and humiliation she had suffered back in the Lower Realm made her gnash her teeth in hatred. The experiences resurfaced, each one felt as vividly as if it were happening all over again, reminding her of her past shame.
Now, the mere thought of Celeste Grant made her tremble, the fire within her threatening to erupt. Back in the Lower Realm, her fear had been subconscious. Now, she trembled with rage.
Her fingers curled into a claw, digging into the surface of the table.
In the next moment, the table that had just held the Spirit Fruits and tea burst into flames, turning to ash in an instant.
Eve Warren jumped in fright at the sight.
The flames made her very Divine Soul tremble.
Overcome with fear, she immediately dropped to her knees. "Princess, please calm your anger!"
Coming to her senses,
Jocelyn Grant stood up. With a wave of her hand, she looked out the window and said coldly, "This has nothing to do with you."
She looked outside, her eyes lifted slightly.
Her eyes were filled with viciousness.
She swore an oath in her heart.
’Celeste Grant, I will grind your bones to dust.’
’I will rip out your Divine Soul and imprison it in Pyralia, where you will suffer day after day. I will make you beg for death, but never find it!’
For a moment, her noble face was twisted by a sinister look. ’That bitch! How dare she humiliate me like that when I was in the Lower Realm. As a princess of the Golden Crow Clan, I will never forget such a deep and utter humiliation. This time, I will make Celeste Grant pay back what she owes me a hundred, a thousand times over.’
’She had only descended to the Lower Realm to undergo a tribulation and advance her Cultivation. But then, some inexplicable, powerful force had dragged her into a Cultivation World that had evolved from the plot of a book. Originally, she was the female lead. Everyone loved her, which fit her status perfectly. But then everything changed. She met that bitch, Celeste Grant, who constantly kept her under her thumb.’
’And not just her. That man of hers, too. Together, they opposed me at every turn and killed the men I loved.’
’Even if our bond was only for a single lifetime, those men were mine. What right did Celeste Grant have to kill them?’
’Celeste Grant, you deserve to die!’
’You deserve to die!’
’I can’t wait to see Celeste Grant groveling at my feet, kneeling and begging for mercy. I wonder if she’ll regret everything she did to me when she finally learns my true identity.’
With this in mind, she spoke. "I have another identity. Back in the Cultivation World of the Lower Realm, I was Jocelyn Grant."
