Chapter 366 - 364: Donating the Family Fortune, Returning to the Cultivation World (7)
After that day.
Celeste Grant didn’t see a trace of Nana for three days, but Nana did call her during that time, talking nonstop the moment she picked up.
"Miss Celeste, the weather’s getting colder, and my mom knitted me a scarf. Oh, and she knitted one for you too."
"Hehe, Miss Celeste, the braised pork belly my mom made today was so delicious."
"Miss Celeste..."
Even through the phone, Celeste Grant could tell how happy Nana was to be reunited with her mother. Celeste knew Nana considered her a friend and was sharing her joy with her.
As Nana continued talking on the phone,
her voice started to choke up.
"Miss Celeste, thank you."
"I found my mom. Miss Celeste, I’m not an orphan. My mom is so gentle and kind. She didn’t abandon me."
A slight smile touched Celeste Grant’s lips.
She was genuinely happy that Nana could reunite with her biological mother. Thinking of this, she smiled and said, "Congratulations, Nana. You found your mom."
"Yes, and I have you to thank for all of this. And the Young Master—he gave me an Elixir Pill that cured my mom’s eyes."
"Miss Celeste, once I’ve handled things on my end, I’ll come see you."
"Okay, sounds good."
After that call,
another two days passed.
Until that afternoon,
Nana returned from B-City with her mother.
They had traveled by car.
When she left, Celeste Grant had taken her, and they arrived in an instant. The return trip was a car ride that took several hours. This was more than enough to demonstrate the benefits of Cultivation—at the very least, you could get wherever you wanted to go in a flash.
"Young Master, Miss Celeste, I’m back."
And this time,
she had brought a lot of things with her.
She unloaded everything from the trunk of the car, setting it aside. It was all an assortment of local specialties she’d brought back from B-City, as well as various kinds of nuts that Celeste Grant and Aaron Sinclair liked to eat.
Aaron Sinclair stepped out of the house and took a look.
"So much? Aunt Warren, did you rob a store?"
Nana laughed. "Pretty much, hehe. I robbed a supermarket. See if you like any of it, Young Master. This is the kingdom this old servant conquered for you."
Aaron Sinclair walked over with a smile, looking at the several boxes of nuts piled high. "So many nuts, and it’s the ’Three Squirrels’ brand, too. I love these, so I’ll gladly help myself."
Nana gestured grandly. "They’re all yours."
Aaron Sinclair didn’t stand on ceremony. With a wave of his hand, he swept the items into his storage space and accepted them with a grin.
Standing to the side, Mae Grant’s face was a picture of astonishment. Although she had already learned from her daughter that they were all top-tier cultivation masters, seeing this scene unfold before her eyes still felt fantastical and unbelievable.
She never thought that one day
she would witness with her own eyes a scene straight out of a TV show.
Next, Nana pulled her mother over to formally meet Celeste Grant.
"Nana, you’re back."
Nana nodded. "Yes. As soon as I finished handling my own affairs, I brought my mom here to Tessburg. Miss Celeste, my mom wanted to thank you in person."
At this, Mae Grant stepped forward and knelt directly before Celeste Grant’s family, her eyes red and her face filled with gratitude.
"Benefactors, please allow me to kowtow to you! If it weren’t for you, I’d still be kept in the dark, never knowing the truth. Thank you for letting me know all this, and for helping me find my daughter. It’s all thanks to you that we could see each other again after being separated for twenty-eight years." As she spoke, she looked over at Aaron Sinclair, who was sitting to the side quietly eating nuts.
"I was blind for more than ten years, and it was the Elixir Pill from the Young Master that healed my eyes. I, Mae Grant, can never repay the immense kindness your family has shown me. Thank you, thank you."
She kowtowed heavily.
"From now on, as long as you, Madam, and your family will have me, I am willing to work like a horse to repay you."
Celeste Grant waved her hand. "Please, get up. Nana is a good girl, and I’m very happy for her that she could reunite with her family."
"Nana is one of my people. Since you’re her biological mother, then by extension, you’re one of my people too. We’re all on the same side, so there’s no need for such formalities. Nana, help your mother up."
"Yes, Miss Celeste."
"Mom, get up, quick. I told you Miss Celeste is as beautiful as she is kind. She’s a really good person."
’As beautiful as she is kind.’
’Are they talking about me?’
She chuckled and said, "I wouldn’t go that far, but I never mistreat my own people." At this, she turned to Nana and asked, "Nana, my family and I are returning to the Cultivation World. What are your plans?"
If Nana wanted to stay behind, Celeste wouldn’t treat her unfairly.
’Only a fool would have to make a choice here.’
’Is there even a choice to make?’
’Obviously, I have to cling to this golden opportunity! Only by following my Young Miss will I have a good life.’ Nana Warren spoke without a second thought. "What plans could I have? Obviously, I’m packing my bags and following you. Wherever you go, Miss Celeste, I’ll go." She patted her chest lightly as she spoke. "Miss Celeste, I am completely loyal to you. Even in death, this old servant will still be your ghost."
’So she won’t even let me go in the afterlife, huh?’
Just then, Nana pulled her mother to her side and said sheepishly, "Miss Celeste, could I... bring a plus-one? I want to go with you, but I’ve only just reunited with my mother. Her life has been so hard, I can’t possibly leave her behind alone."
Celeste Grant wasn’t surprised by this request.
She didn’t say much, simply replying, "As long as your mother has no objections, you can bring her along." ’Taking one person or two doesn’t make much difference.’ The most important thing was that she valued Nana’s abilities.
Hearing that Celeste had agreed to let her bring her mother, Nana’s face lit up with joy, and she quickly thanked her.
"Thank you, Miss Celeste."
"But she’s lived here for so long. Will she be able to adapt to life in a strange new place?"
Mae Grant nodded repeatedly. "I can, Madam. It’s all the same to me, wherever I am. As long as I can stay by my daughter’s side, that’s more than enough for me."
"Then it’s settled."
"Come on, since we have some time, tell us what happened over the past few days."
"No problem, Miss Celeste."
"A lot has happened these past few days..."
And so,
Nana began to recount the events of the last few days. When she mentioned her aunt, her face filled with fury.
Celeste and Aaron learned what had transpired from Nana’s story.
Nana had sent the aunt who separated her from her mother to prison. She had spent the past few days collecting evidence and even got a DNA test done with Mae Grant. With the facts laid bare, her aunt couldn’t argue her way out of it.
After her scheme was exposed, the aunt had desperately begged for forgiveness, claiming she had been temporarily blinded by greed and never meant to harm Nana. She even said that her own child had died around that time, causing her to have a mental breakdown, which is why she thought of abandoning Nana at an orphanage.
She said she was wrong.
But Celeste Grant knew it wasn’t that she realized her mistake.
It was that she was scared.
So, no matter how her aunt tried to play the family card or how she tried to justify her actions, both mother and daughter refused to forgive her. They despised her.
