Chapter 8. Winter
I spoke with my father, Rick, and Arthur and Leyra both inside and out. Leyra's brother-in-law, who was pregnant with her son, was full for nine months. My family's expectations were very high because he was the son who had been waiting for me.
Her niece Elene was very fond of letting me play with Noum, Wounded and Salamanders after a long time. And then she'd shake her hand at me and she'd say, "You can't go home, okay? ’It was so cute and lovely to say.
Come on, grow up. Uncle will teach you aesthetics when you're the right age.
After meeting with my family, my heart warmed.
Everyone knew exactly what to do for the future.
I decided to trust my people. No matter how hard I fly, Grand Duke Romfel decides to believe that my father and brother Rick can survive.
I was able to return to Leaden City with some peace of mind.
When he returned, a new weather was entering the winter.
* * *
This winter was very cold.
The blade wind blowing from the northern region seems to have frozen Castle Leaden.
Due to the snowfall, the number of people walking the streets decreased greatly, and poor poor people died from frostbite.
Is that all?
With snow piled up and ice sheets built up, the merchants' flow decreased and the royal revenues decreased.
Fortunately, even the Horn Empire was devastated by the brute force. The war could be delayed until the damage is repaired.
“As I originally expected, I expected it to start as soon as spring, but I think it will slow down to summer. ”
Evan, who is in charge of intelligence for the Horn Empire, reported.
“Summer. It's important who recovers their mouths quickly in winter. ”
“Of course. The damage will be severe this winter as well. Because it is adjacent to the northern region, it has suffered heavy snowfall as an annual event, so it will be this year. ”
“Why build a capital at a place like this? ”
I kicked my tongue and complained.
I would have made the basin of the Baden River my capital.
Evan told me that he was lost in thought.
“Rumor has it the Lord will defeat winter in Segan. ”
“Huh? I'll winter? What Jeju?”
“It is said that Raul Ligand, an ancient legendary animist, repelled the rains with animosity. So it's a myth that the Lord can summon Phoenix to make the winter go away. ”
“I didn't know I was such a great spirit today. ”
Raul Ligand was a Supreme Spirit. Do I look like a superior spirit to you?
Plus, it's supposed to get rid of the rain.Maybe it blew away the clouds with the spirit of the wind. It is physically possible.
But how are we supposed to get rid of winter? How am I supposed to change the seasons if I'm not God?
Evan adds to me that I'm confused.
“That means that the public's expectations of the state troops are high. So far, lethality is great, but the public is an unsatisfied animal, and the better they do, the better they ask. ”
“If we don't get rid of winter, we'll be damned. ”
“This winter is so harsh. ”
“Hmm.”
I groaned as I looked out the window at the white landscape.
Obviously, it snowed too much this year. The snowfall looks about twice as high as last year.
I'm worried about the poor living in a shabby shack. Even in the old Black Leukemia, many of the first victims of the slums would die in this snowfall.
It's my son Jis. He's got salamanders in his system, so he's excited to go out and play, but that doesn't mean everyone's as peaceful as we are.
I got up from my seat.
“It's hard to keep winter out, but let me do what I can. ”
“What are you going to do? ”
“Clear your eyes. ”
“I'm afraid the snow will continue for a while, but once you've exerted your power, nothing will change. ”
“You can clean it up every day. ”
“Every day? ”
Evan looks surprised.
I nodded.
“You can clean it up on the way to work in the morning. If I have the strength to save even one other person, it is a sin to sit idly in front of someone who needs help. ”
“…… I see. ”
Evan nods, shaking his head.
Evan, who has ascended from the heavenly civilization to his current position by his own power, may not understand. But not everyone in the world is a genius like you.
I called in a salamander.
- You got something to burn?
“Yes. Let's burn our eyes out. ”
- No, I don't want eyes!
Salamander was annoyed.
“Shut up. Poor poor people are freezing to death. ”
- Then let's burn the Slum!
“Stop talking crazy and follow me, psychopath spirit. ”
- Chet!
I had a look on my face that said no to salamanders. I felt a tingling sensation in my body.
I flew around in the Earth's Hand and began to work on the snowdrops of Leaden Castle.
It was simple.
I made several large fireballs and organized them from the provinces within the city. Every time the ball of fire rolled, the snow melted in an instant and became water. Of course, I paid strict attention to the salamanders so they wouldn't burn anything but their eyes.
“Okay, let's go a little faster! ”
I put ten more fireballs in.
It took less than 30 minutes to melt the snow in the city of Ledon. Spirit Affinity was quite consuming, but it seemed like every morning on the way to work would be no problem.
“Hail, Chancellor! ”
“Hail to the ligand! ”
“The snow is gone! ”
“Grand Spirit!”
People cheered in the street. It was full of snow and everyone was surprised and pleased that the old street had restored its original landscape.
I didn't feel too good.
I've only received one or two of these cheers, but Evan's expectations and reliance on me have increased.
After snowing, I headed to the Slum. It's because I was worried that the poor were doing well in winter.
Instead of going down directly, I just looked at the shared senses in heaven with the spirits.
Hmph. As expected, it was brutal.
My heart aches when I see those skinny Slums. It bothers my conscience that the children who look ugly do not have the energy to run around and are shaking in the cold with a cloth.
My family was living well, but I was overwhelmed by the thought of what sin these people would live for.
It was an uncomfortable reality I had guessed but didn't want to see.
The slums suffered from hunger and cold without a way to obtain food, as the snow and waves greatly diminished traffic to the north.
When the war broke out, these poor people were doomed to live.
Emperor Kars.
You have no idea how terrible war is. You don't even care how many people suffer from it.
No, that's exactly the point.
I thought that Emperor Kars' emotions might be something I should dig into.
The nightmares of childhood made Emperor Kars what he is today.
The emotionless doll of reason made me numb from the suffering of others.
In order not to be a victim anymore, in order not to suffer again, did Emperor Kars unconsciously decide to become the worst perpetrator of all time?
In other words, they use iron masks and swing swords to practice cruel determination.
Duke Bezalius, who burned down his enemies and left no prisoners behind, had a clear reason to save his country, but eventually suffered from his actions.
Then maybe I should take off the iron mask of the emperor Kars.
Emperor Kars is a clever man, leaving behind a mental flaw.
We can compromise in a good way if we just take it off the railing. As long as the obsession to become the rebirth of Crosthen Bezalius is gone, you will know which is the right choice for the deceased.
But…….
“How could you take his mask off? ”
I sighed and went back to the mansion.
I have to go to work tomorrow to discuss the problem of treating the poor.
