Chapter 458: Group of Friends
After successfully getting information from the runaway follower Lux went to the location of the temple of the organization but as expected it was already deserted, he couldn’t gain anything, he could only sigh and head back, taking the super train to go back to academy.
He arrived two days later, one day after Nero and Khione arrived. He took a long refreshing bath as soon as he entered his room after a quick detour to report his mission completion, right now with his slightly long hair tied up, he was leaning against his bathtub he replayed what happened recently.
To think the enemy would produce those failed experiment to send them into the city to wreak havoc, those mindless beast that desire nothing but destruction and assimilation are really scary. Just imagine an horde of them not immediately contained, they could quickly swallow a small city, turning it into a flesh hell.
’’!"
Lux shuddered just by imagining it, he had the feeling that this was the beginning of something unsightly, countermeasures must be put into place. He had already reported what happened to the academy, the headmaster must be informed by now, he didn’t forget to inform his father as well, they must be on alert, it seems to have been underestimating the organization too much, those lunatics have gone completely mad.
’’Sigh! In the end strength is the answer. If I was more powerful, I could have easily complete the mission and many innocent souls would have been saved. For those fallen souls I shall work harder and eradicate the one responsible, completely this is my vow.’’
After the solem vow he closed his eyes to rest for a while before leaving the bathtub, dressing lightly he ordered some pizza he enjoyed while playing with his phone, he saw the message in the chat group left by Adam, Blake, Nero, every single of them was back already.
[I’m back as well. I had taken on a shitty mission, countless casualties, I’ll tell you more once we meet.]
[Cool, you must feel us in once we meet and don’t be hard on yourself.] (Adam)
[Yeah] (Blake)
[They’re right, Lux, don’t take shoulder everything. We are here. I’ll also speak of our mission, the ambush from those rats!] (Nero)
Unexpectedly, even Khione who rarely write in the chat wrote something.
[You’re strong 💪] (Khione)
Lux could not help but smile upon seeing those messages, he felt blessed to be surrounded by those people, he could not help but feel grateful.
After casually chatting with them he closed his phone, putting it down, he began considering what to do next. He must train, he had just stepped into the next realm, he had to consolidate his realm.
’’Becoming friend with Nero is my, no our biggest achievement because of how absurd he is, he kept pushing us forward. Thank to him every single of us worked out ass off not to fall behind and now we achieved the impossible, just to keep up. How ironic, before him we have been hailed as the golden generation but once he appeared he kept destroying everything, showing what real genius, a true monstrosity is like.’’ Lux shook his head as he got dressed accordingly to go outside, the wind outside was chilly, proof that winter is coming soon.
After completing his last mission, he got plenty of credit he could not wait to use, so he used some of them to rent a pocket world to train, he didn’t feel sleepy at all. He must work harder, there was that monster Nero ahead, perpetually advancing, but above everything he must become stronger to deal with the enemy, to save as much people as possible, it must be known Lux got the savior’s complex on top of his hatred for monsters and anything evil, so he couldn’t be helped.
After using his cadet pass and paying his due he passed through the portal to the rented pocket world for training.
He ventured forward through the shimmering portal. He was immediately met by a vivid world formed by endless green expense, a beautiful forest stood in the way, stretching as far as the eyes could see.
The forest was far-reaching, radiant, and prospering. Its canopy was dominated by poplar, rowan, and larch, who permitted ample, shimmering lights to descend for a diversity of herbs to burst from the soft, rich soils below.
Swooping vines embraced a couple of trees, and a potpourri of flowers, which were scattered sporadically, brightened up the otherwise brown view.
A discord of wild noises, most belonged to critters, echoed in the air, and were out of sync with the rustling of the leaves and branches of the tree tops in the wind.
Lux enjoyed the view for a moment, before getting ready, he conjured his Law of Light, forming wings made of light, right now with his benevolent air, he looked like angel in book.
He shot forward, flying at top speed until he arrived at the heart of the forest, forest who swallowed a city turning into a ghost town, prana was more concentrated here. He descended into the ghost town, information rushing to his mind.
What was once a wide avenue that led to Warrington was barely more than a dirt path now and covered in shrubs and small bushes. The crisp and clean looking town now looked more like a jungle as trees and gardens grew beyond their now unkempt boundaries.
Some doorways seemed in relative decent condition while others were destroyed and were indistinguishable from other collapsed walls and piles of rubble. Dry rot, vines and other undesired vegetation had taken the place of paint on most buildings and created their own kind of decoration.
Warrington, once nothing more than a simple, quiet town had all but faded away from history. Bird songs, animals rustling in the bushes and trees and the various animal sounds from stray pets and other wild animals had taken the place of the sounds of a bustling community.
The town hall, once the pride and glory of this town, was turned into a new pride and glory by the various animals that lived here. Birds, cats, dogs and all sorts of rodents had all taken their spots.
Were it not for the animals that had made their home in many of the buildings this town would’ve surely been a far more unsettling sight. But despite being nothing like its former self this town still served its purpose. It was still home to a community and lives still thrived, it was just in the form of animals this time.
Lux descended into a broken temple and sat in meditation to began gathering refined prana. His training had begun, meanwhile, in outside, the world continued to turn, those forgotten, each was focusing on something.
Barak who hadn’t been himself recently received a visit. This would be a turning point.
