Prince of The Abyss

The mountains have arrived, the second region of the world, and one where a giant owl rested on top of the highest peak. Yet it wasn’t the only thing living inside this place; it was big enough that humanity had chosen to live in the mountains.

They hadn’t reached the village, but they were close, and after a long day of climbing, they had gotten tired.

Sena made a fire, as Aether instantly lay on the ground, groaning. "Didn’t think there would be so much walking inside this book."

She chuckled, getting some meat they had gotten from killing a deer in the forest, and starting to cook it. "You chose it, so why are you mad? I should be the one complaining, not you."

Aether rolled his eyes, summoning his bow yet again.

Abilities-[Poison Shot]

[Poison Shot]-No matter the arrow, the effect shall not differ; this ability grants the arrows shot from the bow a weak poison to weaken the enemy over five minutes, before going away.

’It’s not that bad... definitely not that good for a Seeker... but at the same time, if I were to go by that logic, you could argue even Voidpiercer was a bit outdated. After all, people like Lilith use blades of the Bearer rank, while mine is only that of a Seeker.’

Aether bit his tongue as he imagined he had an arrow to shoot, testing the bow... the target being Sena, he pulled on the string before letting go. Seeing this, Sena’s eyes widened before falling back, and she acted dead.

She scoffed. "Get up? You shot at me. I’m dying; I could never get up."

Aether chuckled, moving towards her before grabbing her leg so she couldn’t pull it away, and starting to tickle her foot.

Sena staggered up, laughing like crazy while trying to get her foot out, but she was unable to; she only escaped when he let her go.

"You bastard." She said, but without any bite to it.

Aether shrugged his shoulders, chuckling. "It’s not my fault you wanted to act like a moron. If you can, then why can’t I?"

Sena stretched, checking on the meat, before turning to Aether again with a smile. "It’s a good thing we’re not at the Academy, or I would have gotten jealous stares all week."

Aether stopped for a second, his eyes widening. "What does that even mean? It’s not the first time you say something like that." He said, lying back a bit, supporting himself with his hands.

Sena scoffed. "Isn’t it obvious? You’ve got many admirers in the school who are interested in you. I’m not one of them, so you know, the only reason I’m here is for Eden, not Aether." She chuckled, turning the meat.

Aether tilted his head; he still was confused, but he understood what she was trying to say. After all, he had had a girl confess, buying him a dessert he wanted and then asking him if they had known each other for barely five minutes.

"Really, didn’t know..."

Silence followed for some time before Sena burst into laughter. "Seems like you aren’t interested at all."

Aether frowned slightly, waiting for her to finish laughing. "It’s not that I’m not..."

He looked at the sky. "I’ve got stuff I want to do, like everyone, but I won’t use that as an excuse." He raised his hand in the sky, looking at the moon and how far away it was. "If I were to ever fall in love, then sure, I would give it a shot." He turned his head back to Sena. "But at the moment, I’m not necessarily interested in anyone. I thought it was because we were still young, but I guess it’s just me... and you and maybe some other people, but you get the idea, we’re the minority."

"Maybe," Sena said, taking care of the fire so it wouldn’t stop. "But we’re Vessels; at the moment we have far more important things to do, after all, especially you. You are connected to the future; you will have a big role in what is to happen, so it’s better to keep trying to get stronger than worrying about love."

After the food finished cooking, Sena cut it in two with her strings before giving Aether half of it, funny, since they were eating without any utensils or plates, so normally they would have been called beasts without any etiquette, but most Readers have done this in their lifetime, some more than others.

He’s personally never had a problem doing this, and Sena didn’t either.

After eating, it was time to go to sleep... but Aether didn’t; he waited for Sena to fall asleep before getting up and walking away, not a lot, but enough for her not to see him in the darkness if she awakened.

There was something he had wanted to do for a while now.

Lying on the ground, Aether summoned Voidpiercer.

He hadn’t been in this place in such a long time, and yet it still felt so familiar. Standing on top of the world, even above the clouds, staring down only to be blinded by them. In his past, he used to come here a lot; he didn’t have anyone else to talk to... but this time he had come for an actual reason.

Voidpiercer chuckled as he saw him. "You’ve decided to visit me. To what do I have the honor?"

Aether chuckled. "It has, but you have to understand me; I haven’t had a reason to come, no god to get your anger to fight...

And neither are you that fun of a person to talk to.

You keep too many things hidden."
