Prince of The Abyss

Chapter 408: Elise Hale

To think that he would spend without any sign of Cain, it was getting scary. After all, it wasn’t like he had infinite time; he was on a clock, one that was ticking fast, and it didn’t lead to anything good... that was why he had taken things into his own hands.

The King wouldn’t allow him to get some scouts, because this was his mission or whatever, but he was allowed to use other people, which was why he had started asking them, but people forget, or don’t even realize they have passed by something important.

That’s why... he had put a bounty on his head. One hundred golden coins... it was a lot, and he really didn’t want to waste that much money. That is why... he had asked a favour from an old friend.

Finishing putting up the last poster, Lilith wiped the sweat off his forehead before turning back at his alley, which was resting on top of a crate in the alleyway they were in.

"This is the last one."

Elise Hale.

The Hale family was one of the most well-known families, due to their... money. They were the richest family in all of the Blue Rose, outside the royal family, of course, but they got a lot of their money from none other than the Hale family. They have good relations with all the others Kingdom, and most inside their family are good at their jobs.

He and Elise had known each other since youth, since their families were friends, so he was able to reach her easily.

It was a bit annoying, being childhood friends with her... after all, being one of, if not the only, prettiest of all the Celestials got you a lot of popularity; from a young age she’s been modeling for too many brands, some from even other Kingdoms. It got to the point that the only others she got compared to were Royalties like Iris and the other princesses.

Her face was soft, without any sharp features, and completely symmetrical, no matter how you looked at her. Something really hard to achieve, his wasn’t... but he was a fighter who constantly got hit in the face, and she wasn’t.

Her eyes were probably the main piece of her appearance: almond-shaped, and with a crimson so deep that it almost sparkled, with golden sticking out near the pupil.

Something most people were envious of was her naturally long eyelashes and small nose. Her skin was pale, but not to the point you would think she was a ghost.

Her lips were soft, and she had a gentle smile, one that couldn’t look cocky even if it was... which he knew; she was pretty cocky. She also had a beauty mark under her bottom lip.

Her beauty may also come from the fact that her body had matured way faster than the rest, as she already had curves.

Elise chuckled, playing with her short pink hair that fit her messy bob that had grown to reach her shoulders perfectly. "That was pretty boring." She clapped her hands. "Hope the money helped you, since I do enjoy having a favour from the one and only Freedom." She leaned forward.

Resting her hands on the dirty crate, but luckily she had silk gloves on her hands. And those weren’t the only accessories she had. She had this sapphire hairpin that rested in her hair, alongside golden earrings and necklaces that fit the color scheme perfectly.

"Well, just don’t ask for something crazy; I really don’t want to get in trouble.

As they talked, petals fell from above due to the wind. Seeing this, Elise smiled, moving her hands to control the floating. That was her affinity, which seemed weak, but she could also change their shape to make them sharp, so it was actually more powerful than you would think.

"Come on, we’ve known each other for a heck of a lot of time. I won’t ask for anything that is absurd, plus, it’s not like I will ask you for anything that requires money." She said, continuing to play with the petals.

...

"You know, I’ve never seen you with a girl. Are you perhaps interested in me-"

Lilith put his hand over her mouth. "Don’t even finish it, and no. Why would I get a relationship now? This part of my life is probably the most important, and I have a lot to deal with already, capturing Cain, getting ready for the Winter. It’s not easy being the only Seeker in the operation; most people want to go with the others instead of me. If I were to fall in love now, it would be even worse for me."

Elise slapped his hand away from her mouth, clearly not enjoying the gesture. If it had been anyone else, they would either have been publicly executed or exiled into the Withered.

But Lilith only found her reaction funny. "What about you? You’re also single, interested in someone; maybe I can help you. That way I also take care of my favour."

Elise scoffed. "Like I would ever need you. But yes, there is someone that has caught my eye, but that’s about it. I will need to know him better before anything."

Lilith’s eyes widened. He had definitely not expected that response, at least the second half; the first was obvious, to think that there was someone who could catch her eye. It was interesting.

"Who?"

Elise put a finger up to shut him up. Before laughing. "I’m not telling you; it’s a secret. Plus, it’s not nice to ask a girl about her crush."

Lilith rolled his eyes before crossing his arms. "Well, thanks for the deal; I’ll take my leave." He waved at her before turning his back and walking away.

Even with the posters, it was probably going to take some time, more time than he wanted. But it wasn’t like there was anything he could do.

He just had to be patient.
