Chapter 1598 - 1445: Yin Yang Inn (1)
The other party was dressed in a black martial arts uniform, looking quite like a female knight from the world, and everyone’s eyes turned back to see that the room behind the girl was without furniture and covered in dust, showing no evidence of long-term habitation.
It seemed that this girl was also staying here temporarily because she was traveling at night. Knowing this, the leader became even more cautious.
A little girl, daring to travel at night alone and residing in such an abandoned house—it was inherently unreasonable.
However, the leader wasn’t overly nervous; his party consisted of skilled martial artists, certainly not afraid of a strange girl appearing by herself, even if she appeared somewhat mysterious.
This young girl was Qi Shuangshuang; she hadn’t expected to encounter so many people in the dead of night.
These people had none of the grasslands’ aura of the world; it was clear they were people from the government. After surveying them, Qi Shuangshuang’s gaze fell on the man leading them who had knocked on her door.
She spoke indifferently, "All the rooms inside can be used, feel free to choose any. But let me remind you, the owners of this house all died violently, you’d best not stay in the main house."
After saying this, Qi Shuangshuang closed the door and returned to sit by the fire. After she closed the door, the leader couldn’t help but frown, feeling somewhat uneasy about Qi Shuangshuang’s warning.
Yet others seemed indifferent to her warning; the side rooms inside the yard were just those two, and quite shabby too. Only the main house was relatively intact; if they didn’t stay in the main house, they might not fit.
After looking around the house, they still decided to stay in the main house, completely dismissing Qi Shuangshuang’s prior warning.
In the side room, Qi Shuangshuang perceived the main house’s door being opened and couldn’t help but sigh. Good advice cannot persuade potential victims; hopefully, they won’t anger what’s inside.
Meanwhile, the group Qi Shuangshuang was concerned about was busy searching the whole house for things to burn. Unlike the side rooms, the main house had some furniture like tables, chairs, and cabinets.
After a brief discussion, they decided to chop up these pieces of furniture for firewood. It was still early spring, with cold nights—particularly cold this one. Without a fire, the night would be hard to endure.
While chopping furniture, the person felt like they had hit a strangely shaped piece of wood, as if it had been shaped by a human.
But in the dark, they couldn’t see clearly nor did they think too much about it; they simply chopped a few more times, piled it up, and lit it with the Fire Stick, quickly starting a fire.
A group of people surrounded the fire, started roasting food, taking out dry rations and jerky from their bags to roast and eat.
In the cold night, kindling a fire not only illuminated the darkness but also warmed them, making everyone feel cozy.
The flames danced before their eyes, bursting a few tiny sparks, and the orange-red fire silently mixed with wisps of blue flames.
No one noticed anything strange as they were busy roasting buns, grilling meat, eating, and occasionally adding wood to the fire.
Until one person shivered while eating a bun, hesitantly saying to the others, "Do you guys feel like this room is getting colder?"
It was then that the others suddenly felt it too—although the buns and jerky had been roasting over the fire for quite a while, they weren’t warm at all.
Biting into them, they were cold as if they had been frozen for a long time, feeling like biting into ice shards when eaten.
"Ah! Fire! Why has the fire’s color changed!?" shouted a man in panic and fear, pointing at the fire.
Everyone looked at the flames before them and found, at some unknown point, that the yellow bright flame they had been surrounding had become an eerie blue-green.
The blue-green flame burned joyfully, casting an eerie color on everyone’s faces, making them appear as frighteningly fierce ghosts.
Even more terrifying was the fact that, despite burning fervently, the blue-green flame emitted not warmth but an unending coldness, growing colder as it burned.
Those surrounding the fire, frightened by the bizarre blue-green flames, jumped up and retreated repeatedly.
As if possessing life, the flame saw them get up and retreat, then grew taller by a few inches, splitting into rope-like strands of blue-green flames pursuing the crowd, wrapping around them.
The group was chased by the flames running all over the room, none daring to let the ominous flame ropes touch them; the rope-like flames emerged endlessly from the fire pit.
After only a few laps, they were forced to a point where escape seemed impossible; seeing this, the leader grew anxious and shouted, "Run outside! Leave this house!"
Hearing the leader’s shout, everyone immediately rushed toward the door, while some, unable to make it, ran toward the windows. After all, this house had been in disrepair for years; the windows were so dilapidated, unable to withstand a kick.
Unexpectedly, whether window or door, the originally rotten and decayed door and windows suddenly became unshakably solid.
Desperate to escape, everyone kicked, slammed, and desperately chopped with knives, but despite putting all their strength into it, the doors and windows remained firmly shut without any sign of shaking.
The flame ropes behind drew closer and closer, the doors and windows ahead would not open, forcing the group into hopeless despair, from which they cried out!
Having been dozing, Qi Shuangshuang was suddenly awakened by the evil spirit’s roar, hurriedly got up, pushed open the door, and saw the previously calm main house now shrouded in black Yin Qi.
The roar of the evil spirit reverberated within the Yin Qi, filled with rage. Qi Shuangshuang took a sharp breath; though this house had a powerful evil spirit, it had been docile.
The house had been abandoned for so long; nothing ever happened in the surrounding area, showing that this spirit wasn’t one to harm indiscriminately. Whatever these people did, they must have angered this spirit tremendously.
Not thinking too much about it, Qi Shuangshuang raised her hand and drew a talisman in the air, the red talisman materializing before her.
Once drawn, she pushed toward it, sending the red talisman crashing into the main house filled with Yin Qi, producing an explosive sound. The doors and windows of the main house burst open.
As the doors and windows opened, the group, previously crowded at the window and door in despair waiting for death, stumbled out of the room unprepared.
The instinct to survive made them get up the moment they tumbled out and start running madly.
As they fled out of the main house, countless streams of Yin Qi surged out from the room, the ropes of blue-green flame followed the Yin Qi, rushing into the courtyard.
