Thomas Fisher said he had already eaten outside when he came back, and Athena Linton believed him without a doubt, thinking he really ate outside.

But Autumn York did not believe him at all. She turned to look at him sitting on the sofa, completely still, and said, "Even if you’ve eaten, you can still have a little more."

When she spoke, she gave him a meaningful glance.

"I can’t eat another bite. You take Athena to eat." Thomas understood the implication in his mother’s words, but pretended not to. He remained sitting on the sofa, unmoving.

Just as Autumn was about to call Thomas again, Athena spoke up first: "Auntie! Let’s go eat; don’t force Thomas."

In her heart, she really hoped he would join them for dinner, but seeing his firm attitude, she couldn’t bring herself to insist.

"If he won’t eat, we’ll go eat."

Autumn gave Thomas an annoyed glance, grabbed Athena, and walked out of the living room. The two headed towards the dining room.

The two women, older and younger, happily went to eat, while Thomas was left troubled. Now his mom had something to focus on again, he was likely to be nagged again.

As Thomas predicted, that night Autumn did indeed start nagging him. He had just returned home after dropping Athena at the Military District Compound, and as soon as he entered the door, she caught him.

"Mom! Talk if you want, but don’t grab me, okay? I won’t run away." He applied a bit of force to his wrist, freeing himself from her grasp.

"But I’m afraid you’ll run away." Autumn wasn’t joking or speaking in anger; she genuinely feared he might leave. If he did, she wouldn’t be able to find him.

Thomas sighed helplessly, glanced at Autumn, and walked over to sit on the sofa. Before she could sit down, he started speaking: "Mom! I know what you want to talk about, but you shouldn’t waste your breath."

Before he finished talking, she sat down beside him.

"Since you guessed what I’m going to say, I won’t beat around the bush." Autumn paused for a moment before continuing: "You’re right, I want to talk about Athena. I think she..."

"She doesn’t suit me, and besides, I don’t like her. I only see her as a little sister, nothing more." Thomas didn’t let Autumn continue and cut her off bluntly, "I’ve known her for years. If I had romantic feelings for her, I wouldn’t have waited until now."

His heart couldn’t hold anyone but Alice Turner.

Even though it was Autumn’s first time meeting Athena, she really liked the girl. Her genuine affection for the girl made her intensely wish for Athena to become her daughter-in-law.

"Just because you haven’t had romantic feelings between you before doesn’t mean you won’t in the future. That girl is so lovable; I really like her." Remembering the girl brought Autumn joy.

"There was never anything before, there’s nothing now, and there won’t be anything in the future, Mom! You should give up this hope." Thomas knew Athena was adorable and likable, but he only saw her as a little sister, with no romantic feelings whatsoever.

In both his words and the manner of speaking, his stance was unwavering.

Seeing her son’s resolute attitude, Autumn was quite displeased, "I advise you not to hold on to false hopes."
