Chapter 1432: Why Haven’t You Contacted Home?
Sophia Wood hadn’t had the chance to say anything before Alice Turner spoke up: "Mom! You don’t have to be so polite with him. He’s not suited for that kind of politeness, just be casual with him."
"We’re home now, feel free." After speaking to her mom, she shifted her gaze to Anthony.
"Alright."
Anthony was naturally sociable. Even though it was his first time at the Turner Family’s home, he showed no sign of feeling unfamiliar. He casually followed Alice and Sophia to sit down together.
Sophia was meeting Anthony for the first time, and she had no idea what kind of person he really was. Her intuition told her Anthony wasn’t reliable.
She didn’t understand the relationship between Alice and Anthony. On the surface, it appeared to be a superior-subordinate relationship, but their interactions didn’t fit that mold at all; they seemed quite close.
Aunt Hua didn’t stand around watching them, instead she turned and walked out of the living room to bring tea and fruit for Alice and Anthony. After placing the items down, she wisely left the room to prepare lunch in the kitchen.
"Jacob! Take whatever you want to eat yourself; I won’t grab it for you." Alice gestured towards the fruit Aunt Hua had just placed on the coffee table, indicating for Anthony to help himself to the food and drinks.
Anthony didn’t hold back either and waved at Alice, "You go ahead and catch up with your aunt, don’t worry about me, I can take care of myself."
He got up and moved aside to give some space to the mother and daughter, aware that they would have many things to talk about, and as an outsider, he should stay out of it.
"Then I won’t bother with you." Alice glanced at Anthony who had moved away, understanding why he was keeping his distance. She refrained from saying more, and directed her focus on Sophia, "Mom! Has everything been alright at home these past few years?"
She was curious to know what had happened at home during the years she had been away.
Sophia knew Alice was eager to find out what had transpired at home these past years, but she was more interested in where Alice had been during the past five years, what experiences she had gone through, and what connection Anthony shared with Alice.
"Everything at home is fine, how about you? Were you doing well outside all these years?" Sophia responded to Alice with a single sentence, then promptly changed the subject, eager to learn about her daughter’s recent situation.
Alice nodded slightly: "I was doing well too."
She also replied to her mom with a brief sentence, but unlike her mom, she didn’t divert the topic.
"Where have you been all these years? Why didn’t you contact home?" Sophia couldn’t understand it. She might accept that Alice didn’t want to contact them, but with Lily Turner being such a close relationship, surely she’d at least reach out. But she was disappointed.
Alice sighed deeply, replying: "I’ve been in Derry Kingdom all these years, I..."
"You went to Derry Kingdom?!"
Upon hearing that Alice had been in Derry Kingdom, Sophia was very surprised. The family had never stopped searching for her these years, yet they never found any sign of her.
Everyone assumed she went to the United States, but she had gone to Derry Kingdom instead, which explained why no trace of her was found in the United States all these years.
Seeing Sophia’s astonished expression, Alice felt puzzled, "What’s wrong? Is it strange that I went to Derry Kingdom?"
She looked at her mom, hoping she would provide a clear explanation.
