Chapter 79: Student Council

"You should be careful. The matter regarding Zavier won’t end so easily."

William’s expression remained unchanged at Alicia’s words, as he already knew what she was talking about.

However, Liam couldn’t remain calm after hearing this and asked Alicia with a frown.

"Are you saying that guy will come back looking for trouble with William?"

Alicia nodded before shaking her head.

"It’s highly possible that Zavier will come back looking for trouble, but I am not talking about him right now."

William glanced at Liam and spoke.

"She is talking about the Student Council."

"The Student Council?" Liam asked with a confused expression as he scratched the back of his head.

Alicia was slightly surprised when William mentioned the Student Council, as it indicated that he already knew about it.

Seeing Liam’s confused expression, she explained calmly.

"The academy is huge, and countless things happen every second. You can’t expect those powerful professors to manage everything inside the academy, can you?"

"To manage student affairs, the Student Council was established. Its top members are senior students who are already in their third or even fourth year. There are also students from the first and second years, but they usually work under the senior members." Alicia paused for a second before continuing.

"Most matters related to students, including unauthorized fights, are handled by the Student Council. Since William beat up a student earlier, they will definitely come looking for him."

Alicia turned to William and asked in confusion.

"If you already knew about the Student Council, then why did you beat him up? Although it’s not good to say it out loud, you should understand that most of the people in the Student Council come from noble families. After hearing that you, a commoner, badly beat Zavier, they will most likely try to make things difficult for you."

William didn’t refute Alicia’s words because he knew she was right.

However, the reason he had beaten Zavier so badly was precisely because he wanted to attract the attention of the Student Council.

’If I remember correctly, the current president of the Student Council should still be him. Since that’s the case, there is no need for me to worry about anything.’

William looked at Alicia and Liam and spoke with a shake of his head.

"Neither of you needs to worry about the Student Council. I know what I am doing."

"I was never worried about them," Alicia said while blinking her eyes. "I mean, you are the one who beat up Zavier. What does that have to do with me?"

Her meaning was obvious. Even if William ended up getting beaten by the Student Council, it had nothing to do with her.

Liam also nodded at Alicia’s words because he was merely an innocent bystander.

William’s eyes twitched slightly when he saw their reactions, but he simply kept his mouth shut.

"Where are we going now?" Liam asked after coughing lightly to break the silence.

"Our dormitory," William replied before explaining. "There are three dormitories in the academy. The first is the Basic Dormitory, which only provides basic living conditions with nothing remarkable about it. The best thing about it is that it’s free, and we will be living there for the time being."

"The second dormitory is called Moon Hall. Every room there has an Aether Energy Gathering Array, which is very helpful during cultivation. The living conditions are also far better than those in the Basic Dormitory, but you have to spend Academic Credits to live there." William paused before adding.

"You can also use other valuable resources in exchange for staying there. Most noble families donate a considerable amount of resources to the academy so that their children can live in Moon Hall."

"Donate resources..." Liam raised an eyebrow.

Alicia nodded.

"There are so many students in the academy, so naturally, the academy has to find ways to gather enough resources to support them. This is one of those methods."

She shook her head before continuing.

"In noble circles, appearances are very important. If your child lives in the Basic Dormitory after joining the academy, wouldn’t other noble families look down on you? The academy is simply taking advantage of that mindset to obtain more resources from the nobles."

"I see..." Liam nodded before asking curiously.

"So you are also living in Moon Hall?"

Alicia shook her head and replied calmly.

"I am living in Star Hall."

"Star Hall?" A question mark seemed to appear above Liam’s head.

"It’s the third dormitory," William replied in a flat tone. "It’s even more luxurious than Moon Hall, and the cultivation conditions there are much better. Naturally, you also have to pay a much higher price to live there."

"Huh?" Liam was completely baffled after hearing this and couldn’t help but give Alicia a strange look.

From the way she had spoken earlier, he had thought she considered the noble families to be suckers who were willingly handing over resources to the academy.

But it turned out she was an even bigger sucker than they were.

"I feel like you are thinking something rude," Alicia said as she narrowed her eyes at Liam.

Liam immediately broke out in a cold sweat and hurriedly shook his head.

"It’s just your imagination."

To change the subject, Liam quickly looked at William and asked in confusion.

"By the way, William, how do you know so much about the academy? The senior at the registration counter only gave us a basic introduction. He didn’t explain everything in such detail."

"It’s because of the senior who helped me during my registration," William replied with a shrug. "He explained everything to me so that I wouldn’t be confused."

"What a good senior," Liam said with admiration as he knew that most people wouldn’t go out of their way to waste so much time explaining everything in such detail.

The three of them walked for nearly twenty minutes before a building came into view.

"I will see you guys later. And don’t even think about entering an Astral Rift without me," Alicia said in a serious voice.

"Yeah, yeah," William replied as he waved his hand and together with Liam, he entered the building.

It was the Basic Dormitory, while Moon Hall and Star Hall were located in different areas of the academy.

As such, Alicia had to head there by herself.

As they entered the building, they saw an old man lazily sitting behind the counter.

Since the classes hadn’t started yet, there were no other students around.

William walked to the counter together with Liam and tapped on it to get the old man’s attention.

The old man slowly opened his eyes and let out a yawn.

"New students?" He asked as he straightened his back.

"Yes," William nodded and placed his student badge on the counter.

"Please give us an empty room. We will be sharing it."

In the Basic Dormitory, every room was shared by two students.

William had already told Liam about this, and Liam had agreed to share a room with him instead of living with a random stranger.

The old man nodded at William’s request and, after checking their student badges, returned them.

"Second floor, Room No. 8," He said as he placed a key on the counter before leaning back in his chair once again. "Don’t make too much noise while living here."

"We will keep that in mind," William replied as he picked up the key and together with Liam, headed toward the second floor.
