Chapter 676: Car Crash
The black car sped along the road.
Zombie Emperor Zhang Yiming and Leng Yebai sat in the driver and front passenger seats, both with stern faces, exuding a chilly aura.
Bai Yifan and Zhang Yiming sat in the back, Bai Yifan petting a cat while Zhang Yiming was on the phone.
Talking to Bai Xiqin on the phone.
The voice was extremely gentle, filling the whole car with the sour scent of love.
"Xiao Niu, are you home now? Rest well at home for a while, the ribs were ruined, I’ll help you stew a pot when I get back, I promise you’ll get to eat today."
"I’m actually not home, I went to the hospital for a check-up, nothing’s wrong with me, it’s just a routine check-up."
"Okay, I’ll send you a picture of my check-up report then, let you have a look."
"What? You went out to buy calcium tablets? Alright, I’ll come to find you after I get back."
Zhang Yiming had a warm smile on his face, his slender fingers lightly tapping on the seat in front, the affectionate look in his eyes seemingly capable of melting glaciers of ten thousand years.
Bai Yifan watched curiously as Zhang Yiming talked to his sister on the phone.
The second time seeing Brother Zhang chatting on the phone with his sister.
Oh, gosh, he’s gentle to the bone.
Bai Yifan sneaked another glance at Zombie Emperor Zhang Yiming, thinking about how Brother Zhang in their world was commanding on the battlefield, with a mere wave calling hordes of zombies to his side.
Though he seemed awe-inspiring, inside he was profoundly lonely.
Yet the Brother Zhang before him wasn’t the Zombie Emperor, but incredibly happy.
Bai Yifan noticed the slight curve of Zombie Emperor Zhang Yiming’s lips and the fleeting look of envy in his eyes.
An expression filled with longing and deep yearning.
Clearly the emperor of all zombies, yet at this moment, profoundly envious of a Zhang Yiming born in a peaceful world.
Bai Yifan glanced again at Leng Yebai driving the car, softly sighed.
Happy for Brother Zhang, yet pitying Brother Leng.
After a moment of pity, a mischievous thought sprang up in Bai Yifan’s mind.
Once back, I’ll get Brother Leng a bright green hat!
Absolutely brilliant!
Though Bai Yifan knew the sister in this world wasn’t the sister from his world.
He still quite wanted to do just that.
So, without Zhang Yiming’s knowledge, Bai Yifan took out his phone, secretly snapping a scene of Zhang Yiming talking to Bai Xiqin on the phone.
Given a chance, Bai Yifan would also snap pictures of Zhang Yiming hugging and kissing his sister to sell them for a high price to their world’s Brother Zhang (risking being beaten to death by Brother Leng), definitely making a huge profit!
A wide road to wealth!
It took a whole thirty minutes from the villa district to the best neurology hospital in the city.
And Zhang Yiming had chatted on the phone with Bai Xiqin for thirty minutes as well.
"Yes, yes, okay, alright, be good, I’m hanging up now!"
Zhang Yiming gently said into the phone, finally setting it down.
His voice gentle, slightly magnetic, lacking both false tenderness and domineering arrogance, filled with nothing but endless indulgence.
Bai Yifan blinked, with a meaningful look at Zombie Emperor Zhang Yiming.
He really had never heard Brother Zhang call anyone "be good."
This trip was definitely worth it!
The car finally stopped at the neurology hospital gate, Leng Yebai turned around with a cold face to look at Bai Yifan, didn’t say a word, just casually pressed the button to open the car door.
The car door had long been severely deformed, his action held no real use.
"Thank you!"
Zhang Yiming and Bai Yifan nodded politely to Leng Yebai and got out of the car.
Zombie Emperor Zhang Yiming sat in the front passenger seat, showing no intention of getting out, half-smiling at Leng Yebai.
"You should get out,"
Leng Yebai’s voice held no warmth, cold to the core.
Being stared at by the person before him felt extremely uncomfortable, as if something forgotten was being mocked by what he couldn’t recall.
This feeling left him very displeased.
Yet helpless against it.
"Do you guess who he was just talking to on the phone?"
Zombie Emperor Zhang Yiming didn’t get out, instead saying something that took Leng Yebai by surprise.
Hearing this, Leng Yebai glanced at Zhang Yiming outside, his voice still cold,
"It has nothing to do with me who he talks to, you’ve reached your destination, you should get out, you should know there are surveillance cameras everywhere here."
Zombie Emperor Zhang Yiming sat boldly in the car, with astounding strength, but Leng Yebai wasn’t afraid at all.
It’s not that he was confident he could win, but he simply wasn’t afraid to die.
Alone, without parents, without kin.
Even if he died today, there was nothing he regretted, and whether the sun would rise the next day didn’t matter to him.
"He was on the phone with his girlfriend, they get on really well, they’re together, without regrets."
When Zombie Emperor Zhang Yiming said these few words, his voice was very light.
Said for Leng Yebai to hear, and also for himself.
Leng Yebai said nothing.
This clearly had nothing to do with him.
He didn’t know Zhang Yiming, nor Zhang Yiming’s girlfriend.
No friends or relatives to spend holidays with either.
The only somewhat familiar would perhaps be a lawyer named Bai.
When taking on cases, he liked finding Lawyer Bai, whether the fees were high or not, Leng Yebai always felt this person was straightforward.
Never dragging things out unnecessarily.
Seeing no reaction from Leng Yebai, Zombie Emperor Zhang Yiming smiled, and got out of the car.
He had something more important, which was taking Zhang Yiming for a check-up.
Though Zhang Yiming hadn’t been diagnosed with late-stage brain cancer yet, it didn’t mean he wouldn’t get it.
After Zombie Emperor Zhang Yiming got out, Leng Yebai started the car, the black vehicle began driving back.
The car door was already damaged, Leng Yebai planned to have it repaired at a 4S shop, without intending to report it, as there wasn’t much loss.
Leng Yebai didn’t care about this.
While driving, Leng Yebai seemed a bit distracted.
He was thinking about the boy who just sat in the back seat, the way that boy talked to him felt too familiar.
Leng Yebai was a bit dazed, recalling his memories, but found no clues.
Distracted, Leng Yebai even failed to notice someone ahead, realizing only when he was already very close.
"Ah—"
"Bang!"
Screech—
The car tires screeched against the ground, as Leng Yebai jerked the steering wheel, losing control, scraping past pedestrians, crashing into a green garbage truck nearby.
A massive crash.
The hood of the black car completely caved in.
The green garbage truck seemed not much damaged, as an elderly man in an environmental uniform ran over from a distance.
The airbag deployed, perfectly protecting Leng Yebai’s face, he remained unharmed.
Leng Yebai took a moment to gather himself, then got out of the car, his first action was to check on the person he hit.
It was a rather frail girl.
The girl lay on the ground, her plastic bag had fallen, bottles of calcium tablets spilled everywhere.
Her pale arm was scraped, exposing red flesh and blood.
"Are you alright?"
Leng Yebai crouched slightly, voice somewhat stiff, hesitated a little, extending his hand to help the girl up.
