Chapter 1258: Games
The three kids had found something they enjoyed, and they all really liked playing ping-pong.
"We should get some ping-pong paddles for our family too," Jiang Xinyu said with a smile.
"Yeah. I’ll get a table ready when we go back. I’ll prepare a few extra sets of paddles and balls."
"We can also let the kids in the village learn.
You three learn it properly, then go back and teach your little friends."
Now the kids were even more interested. They could learn something new and go back to play teacher; of course they all wanted that.
Chen Guoliang watched the kids picking it up really fast. He folded his arms, stood to the side and watched, thinking to himself that these three kids were learning way too fast.
Shi Xian was standing off to the side, his little head turning left and right with the ball. He looked especially funny and cute.
There were three tables here in total, so no one had to stand around idle.
Shi Xian walked over, grabbed his Dad’s hand and pulled him toward the table. "I want to play."
"Sure, but can you even reach the table?"
Shi Xian got deflated. Right, he couldn’t reach the table.
Wei Kaiyun found his son like this very amusing. He picked him up in one go and set him on the table, then went to the side, grabbed a paddle and a ball and handed them to his son. He himself went to the other side and just waited there.
Now Shi Xian was happy. He’d been listening on the side just now; even though the paddle was big for him, the way he held it looked quite proper.
Chen Guoliang was drawn over. Watching the little guy, he felt it was especially amusing.
Shi Xian was still little after all, so of course he couldn’t hit the ball accurately, but his Dad was on the other side and was very patient with him. Chen Guoliang was also there next to him, teaching him hand-in-hand.
Jiang Xinyu watched the kids with a smile on her face.
Liangyu came over, took Tingting’s hand and went over there to play too, so now it was just the two women left over here.
"Shi Xian is going to be something someday."
Jiang Xinyu shook her head. "Not necessarily. This kid is sharp, but people like this don’t have much patience. We’ll see. He’s got a mind of his own, he’ll be hard to manage in the future."
"I think Tingting seems quite honest and well-behaved."
"Heh, she probably takes after her real parents."
"Tingting isn’t your own? I think she looks like you."
"She was born the same day as Shi Xian, right after him. Her family already had two daughters, and the third one was still a girl. Things weren’t very harmonious at home. We were admitted to the delivery room one after the other, and ended up assigned to the same ward, so I felt I had a kind of fate with this child, and I adopted her."
"You really are something. You already had three kids yourself. It’s not like you couldn’t give birth."
"Sigh, at the time I just thought, whether it’s one sheep or two sheep, it’s all the same, so I adopted her.
Maybe we really are fated. I’ve met both her parents, but you see, this child looks more and more like me."
"Your own kids, if you want to hit them you hit them, if you want to scold them you scold them, but you can’t do that with this child, right?"
"We’ll talk about it later. She looks like an honest one; we’ll just raise her well. Whatever kind of fate it is, it’s a kind of fate in the end."
"You... Just raise her well, as long as you don’t end up raising a white-eyed wolf or raising yourself a pile of worry."
Jiang Xinyu just smiled. That was all stuff for the future; who could know? For now she’d just treat her the same as her own children. When the girl grew up and understood things, they’d see then.
"Xinyu, are you having dinner with Qian Jun tonight?"
"Yeah, I’m inviting him and Qiao Jingyi and Yao Shimin, the three of them. Oh, and Qian Jun said he’d bring someone along; should be his fiancée, right? He said they’re getting married at the end of the year. What’s wrong?"
"He’s bringing her?"
"Yeah, that’s what he told me. Have you met his fiancée?"
"I saw her once. She’s a pretty girl, a staffer in the county."
"Oh. He didn’t say anything about her situation. We’ll see tonight."
"I feel like his fiancée looks down on people."
"Arrogant?"
"Maybe it’s because her family conditions are good, so she looks down on others a bit."
"I see. It doesn’t matter. We won’t be seeing each other much anyway."
"True, how often could you even meet?"
"But I think Qian Jun should be very satisfied with his fiancée. When he talks about her, he’s smiling."
"She’s pretty, right."
"Heh, there’s that too. But anyway, as long as he can be happy, that’s what matters."
"I don’t think Mr. Qian will have such an easy time in the future though."
"How so?"
"Mr. Qian is so busy. You think his wife will be okay with that?"
"Maybe Qian Jun won’t work himself so hard in the future."
"Isn’t that the thing? Mr. Qian is too busy, he’s got too many things in his hands.
That Vice Factory Director Liang is basically just a title now.
Oh right, has Qingqing written to you?"
"She did, but after I wrote back, I never got another letter from her."
"It’s really not easy for Qingqing either. She thought that Zhou Zhaodong was a good man, who would’ve thought he’d be like that? You really can’t judge a person by their face."
"What actually happened?"
"Qingqing was Vice Factory Director Liang’s secretary, so the two of them inevitably had a lot of contact. I’ve seen the way Liang Xiaoguang looks at Qingqing, and it really is different.
I heard from Guo Liang that it was Zhou Zhaodong who caught Liang Xiaoguang giving Qingqing a ride home. Then the two of them started having conflicts."
"Have you ever seen how Qingqing acted?"
Wang Ailing nodded. "I never saw anything different in how Qingqing treated Liang Xiaoguang."
"And later?"
"Qingqing and him fought a lot. Qingqing wanted to stop being a secretary, but Zhou Zhaodong wouldn’t agree. He felt Qingqing was acting guilty like a thief. Liang Xiaoguang didn’t agree either.
Later on it was Guo Liang and their leaders who talked to Zhou Zhaodong, and things got a bit better.
I think Qingqing wanted to change their relationship, so she secretly got pregnant, and that’s when Zhou Zhaodong wouldn’t have it. He insisted the child wasn’t his.
He even came to the factory to look for Qian Jun back then, so Liang Xiaoguang was almost fired. It was Qingqing who said she had absolutely nothing going on with Liang Xiaoguang.
When Qingqing was pregnant with Hui Fang, she almost lost her life. This pregnancy was actually very risky.
But she still held on and gave birth to a girl, and yet Zhou Zhaodong just insisted the child wasn’t his, and told Qingqing to give the baby away.
How could Qingqing agree to that? So then Zhou Zhaodong said he wanted a divorce. Qingqing agreed too.
In the end they divorced, and Qingqing left her job and left with the little girl."
"How did Liang Xiaoguang act after Qingqing left?"
"Nothing much. I don’t really have access to him, but he’s still working."
"The address Qingqing wrote to me from is still here, so maybe by the time my letter got back she’d already left.
Oh, how is Zhou Zhaodong now? And Hui Fang?"
"Qingqing wanted to take Hui Fang with her, but the Zhou Family wouldn’t agree. The little girl is five now, attending kindergarten at the textile factory. She seems okay.
Zhou Zhaodong has remarried already, to a female worker from the textile factory. But they still haven’t had a child yet. I heard they’re not getting along either, fighting all the time."
