Chapter 1465: Brought Back
Yue Lanfeng put on a coat and dressed her son as well. She put away the clothes she just made and said she was going out.
"Xiang Dong, your house is really spacious," Zhou Mengqian said with a smile.
"Yeah, there’s no room for us here. Back then, my dad gave me money so I could buy a house in the city."
"Isn’t this your dad’s house?"
"Yes, but my dad has already given me enough. This place will be for my younger brothers in the future."
Zhou Mengqian was not satisfied in her heart, but did not show it. Could it be that they shouldn’t rely on Xiang Dong for old-age care in the future? But she didn’t say this out loud.
"Your stepmother is really efficient; the house is so clean."
Xiang Dong nodded. It was indeed quite tidy.
The reason Zhou Mengqian dated Xiang Dong was that she knew he was from the Li Family Village, and his dad was an accountant. Besides, Xiang Dong worked outside, which was quite impressive at his age.

Yue Lanfeng was not happy inside. The daughter-in-law Xiang Dong brought home started looking around with her eyes as soon as she entered the room, which made her very displeased.
She went directly to the brigade office, where Li Yunqiang was calculating the accounts of the chicken farm. He saw his wife coming over holding their son.
"What are you doing here?"
"Xiang Dong brought someone home and is waiting for you. You should go take a look. Hong Jie and I are going to Erzhu’s house. We’ll have lunch at the second brother’s house."
"Got it, I’ll be there."
Li Yunqiang locked up the account books and then the door before heading home. He wasn’t upset that Yue Lanfeng didn’t accompany him back.
When Li Yunqiang entered the courtyard, he happened to see a woman coming out of the side room, and his expression darkened immediately. Not to mention they weren’t even officially engaged yet, but even if they were married, a daughter-in-law shouldn’t be wandering around when no one is home.
Xiang Dong was unaware; earlier, Zhou Mengqian said she was going to the bathroom, so he just waited inside.
Zhou Mengqian saw the person come in and thought this must be Xiang Dong’s dad. Being caught by someone made her feel quite embarrassed. So she bashfully smiled.
Li Yunqiang ignored her and went straight into the room.
"Dad."
"Hmm, why are you back?"
"I want to marry Mengqian and brought her back for you to meet her."
"Mengqian, this is my dad."
"Uncle Li."
Li Yunqiang did not respond. He had become disheartened with his eldest son. But he still hoped he would improve. This woman was definitely not suitable.
"Xiang Dong. Come out, I have something to tell you."
Xiang Dong could see that his father wasn’t pleased with Zhou Mengqian. Actually, he didn’t truly like her either; it was just that she was the one who approached him first. Besides, Zhou Mengqian was quite pretty, had a good job, so he thought why not get married.
The father and son stepped out and stood directly in the yard, "Xiang Dong, if you ask for my opinion, I don’t agree. Just now when I entered the yard, I saw her coming out of the side room."
Xiang Dong felt very embarrassed. He didn’t expect Zhou Mengqian to do such a thing.
"Dad, I understand. I’ll take her away immediately."
Li Yunqiang nodded, realizing his eldest son had changed, becoming much more mature.
Zhou Mengqian was already standing in the main room hearing what Li Yunqiang said, feeling both ashamed and angry.
Xiang Dong came in, "Comrade Zhou, let me take you back. From now on, we’ll just be colleagues."
"Xiang Dong, you—"
"Let’s not say anything more. It’s not a good look for you."
Zhou Mengqian also knew that trying to argue would not be in her favor. She just wanted to look at the structure of the Li family’s house earlier. But now, no explanation would work.
The two of them stepped out, not seeing Li Yunqiang anywhere. Xiang Dong initially thought of taking Zhou Mengqian back and not returning, but since he knew about Chaoyang’s wedding, it wouldn’t be right not to be there.
Li Family had missed out on a lot of happy occasions, and that wouldn’t be okay.
"Dad, where’s our bicycle? I’ll take Comrade Zhou back."
Li Yunqiang came out of the side room, "Go ask the Red Army, he’s going to the city today to pick up your uncle’s family."
"Alright, then I’ll go find the Red Army."
Zhou Mengqian followed behind Xiang Dong, looking at Li Family Village. Wow, they were all green brick houses, looking very grand.
She regretted it now. The Li Family Village was so good, and she heard that they distributed quite a bit of money every year, plus Xiang Dong’s uncle was a big leader in the city. So she decided to talk to Xiang Dong.
"Xiang Dong."
Xiang Dong didn’t even turn his head, "Comrade Zhou, don’t say anything."
They arrived at his second uncle’s house and saw a car parked outside.
He turned around, "Comrade Zhou, could you please wait here for a moment, I’ll go find someone."
Xiang Dong spoke very bluntly, causing Zhou Mengqian to grit her teeth. Li Xiangdong gave her no room to save face.
After Xiang Dong explained things, he turned to enter the courtyard.
In the courtyard of the old house, four stoves were set up. They were all used for boiling meat.
Qu Xiaoli saw Xiang Dong arrive and immediately put down the work in her hands.
"Xiang Dong, come inside. The meal will be ready soon."
"Auntie, I won’t eat. I need to take a colleague back."
Chaoyang had already told Qu Xiaoli that Xiang Dong brought his bride back. So how did she become just a colleague?
"The car keys are with Chaoyang, you can go find him."
Several boys were in the room and called out ’big brother’ when they saw Xiang Dong come in.
"Chaoyang, what time is the Red Army going to the city to take my colleague back?"
Chaoyang furrowed his brows, "Xiang Dong, you should drive her back yourself and pick up Uncle too."
The Red Army wanted to say something, but Changhe stopped him. Because of the last argument between Xiang Dong and Li Yungui, Changhe had been ignoring him.
"Alright then, I’ll go myself."
Chaoyang didn’t want to get his brother involved in Xiang Dong’s matters; he had come with a girlfriend and now called her a colleague, so something must have happened.
Regardless of whose fault it was, he didn’t want the Red Army involved. Since Xiang Dong could drive, he wouldn’t dare do anything to the car, so let him go himself.
The Red Army tossed the keys to Xiang Dong, listening to Changhe’s advice.
Xiang Dong took the car keys out and saw Zhou Mengqian waiting by the car. "Comrade Zhou, get in the car, I’ll take you back."
The two of them left the village without saying a word.
If Zhou Mengqian didn’t date Xiang Dong, there were still many young guys around. They just didn’t have the same conditions as Xiang Dong, but she also didn’t want to settle.
The more Zhou Mengqian thought about it, the angrier she became, so she simply said nothing.
Xiang Dong drove all the way to the pesticide factory, watching Zhou Mengqian enter the plant, even saying a few words to the security guard, only then did he drive away.
It was already past twelve o’clock. He didn’t want to go to his uncle’s house for lunch since he resented Li Yunqiao for not helping him, leaving him to fend for himself.
He ate something simple at a restaurant before driving to Li Yunqiao’s house.
