Chapter 1373: The Talk
Chaoyang immediately tried to please, "Mom, don’t worry, I won’t let you worry about me."
"As long as you understand."
Li Yungui is currently so busy his feet barely touch the ground. He left right after finishing his meal, completely unaware of this situation.
His mind is filled with thoughts of the distillery and money.
The Tao Family Brothers and Sisters talked about Yang Zhongyi during dinner.
"Xiao Zhen, do you really want to talk to Yang Zhongyi?"
"Yes. If we discuss it, we can end this uncertainty about the future."
Tao Chunhe wanted to say if it’s really okay for a girl to talk to a male comrade like this? But since his sister had already decided, he’d go along with her.
"I asked Yang Zhongyi today. He has a week’s holiday."
"Alright, plan the time, but it’s best to have Yang Run Tai there too."
"Can you really bring yourself to say it?"
"Why not? What’s the big deal?"
Tao Chunhe looked at his sister speechlessly, "Xiao Zhen, if you’re not interested in Yang Zhongyi, I think Yang Run Tai is pretty good too."
Tao YanZhen gave her brother a shocked look, "Are you insane? How old is Yang Run Tai? I absolutely can’t accept being with a younger guy."
"He’s only four years younger, it’s not that big a difference."
"Stop talking nonsense, I don’t have that idea. I’m just going to talk with Yang Zhongyi."
"Xiao Zhen, I see Yang Zhongyi looks a bit upset, do you think he might actually be interested in Lv Jingchu?"
"How would I know? I haven’t paid attention to it. But liking Lv Jingchu seems normal, right? I mean, she’s really beautiful."
"Yes, I met her dad, and I don’t think Lv Guodong is really anything special."
Tao YanZhen stopped talking about it. Lv Guodong was a person buried in her heart. It seemed unbelievable even to her; what exactly about Lv Guodong had gotten into her heart?
After finishing the meal, the siblings each went to rest.
In the afternoon, Tao Chunhe invited Yang Zhongyi home for the evening.
"I have something to talk to you about, of course, it would be best if you bring He Run along."
"Alright. I’ll let He Run know."
"I’ll go buy a chicken this afternoon, and we’ll have chicken for dinner."
"Okay, whatever is fine with me."
"Why are you here working instead of training?"
Actually, Tao Chunhe had already noticed that Yang Zhongyi was constantly watching Lv Jingchu. Self-inflicted pain like this, really? Seeing the two of them laugh and chat, isn’t it just self-torture?
"Can’t sit still, I guess."
"Are you here to accompany your niece and nephew, or to work?"
"They’re all in class and don’t have time to talk to me."
"Didn’t they come to see you?"
"Probably just out playing; seeing me is just an excuse."
Although they were chatting, they didn’t stop their watering tasks; people were waiting behind them to plant sweet potato seedlings and cover them with soil.
"Xiao Chun, are you going back this year?"
"No, the family said we should just stay here quietly."
He wanted to visit home, but grandfather had said they couldn’t return. So, they had no choice but to stay.
At lunchtime, Yang Zhongyi and Yang Run Tai talked about it.
"Alright, are you two going?"
"Big brother, we’re not going. The food at their house isn’t as good as Aunt Wei’s," Zhenyu instantly refused.
Yang Run Tai didn’t know what the Tao family brothers and sisters were up to, but he could observe closely.
In a previous life, Tao YanZhen was the helm of the Tao family. He didn’t know much about Tao Chunhe, and had no real impression now. Who knows if this person even existed back then.
After lunch, Chaoyang came over to help Jing Chu with work.
Yang Zhongyi watched until his eyes hurt. Frustrated, he went back inside.
After finishing work in the afternoon, he washed up and went to the Tao family’s house with Yang Run Tai.
"Uncle, actually, the Tao family isn’t bad."
"He Run, I really don’t have that thought. I just think of Tao Chunhe as a friend."
Yang Run Tai stopped talking, knowing when to ease off.
Before they even reached the door, they could smell the meat’s aroma.
"Welcome, how does this smell? It’s my cooking skills."
"You know how to cook?"
"Learned it; can’t let sister do everything."
"Hehe, you’re quite nice."
"Of course, Xiao Zhen is making rice, let’s sit inside."
The three sat at the dining table, which was already laid out with a pot of peach preserves.
Yang Run Tai observed the Tao house; neatly organized, they weren’t people who mistreated themselves.
Tao YanZhen came over, and Tao Chunhe stood up, "I’m going to the front room to watch the fire."
Yang Run Tai saw Tao YanZhen sit gracefully across from them.
"Mr. Yang, I have some things to say to you."
"Then I’ll go help Brother Xiao Chun with the fire," Yang Run Tai stood up.
"No need, you can listen too."
Yang Run Tai raised an eyebrow but still sat down.
"Mr. Yang, I’m sure your family has told you about the decision between our families.
From your reactions, I can tell you don’t agree.
But I do. I don’t want my family to worry because of me.
Don’t be in a rush to refuse me. Hear me out. We’re raised in these kinds of families. You’ve lived a life better than most, so relatively you have to give what others can’t.
This is my view. I don’t know if you share my thoughts.
In short, I follow whatever the family says."
Beyond that, Tao YanZhen didn’t say much, just stared at Yang Zhongyi.
"I’m afraid you’ll regret it in the future."
Tao YanZhen laughed, "Regret? I feel like I won’t in the future; if I do, that’s for me to deal with."
"I already have someone I like."
"In that case, I’ll let you; may you grow old together."
Yang Zhongyi felt a hint of sarcasm in Tao YanZhen’s words.
Yang Run Tai sensed it too; Tao YanZhen must know his uncle likes Lv Jingchu.
Lu Fengzhen finished talking and stood up. "You sit, I’ll go to the kitchen and stir-fry another dish."
Now only the uncle and nephew were left.
"He Run, was she ridiculing me just now?"
"Uncle, you seem less mature than this young lady."
"Me? How am I not mature?"
Yang Run Tai shook his head, deciding not to engage anymore. If his uncle and Tao YanZhen ended up together, wouldn’t this change his uncle’s destiny? Having someone so sensible and wise by his side, what’s there to worry about?
"He Run, do I really have to accept the family’s arrangements?"
"Uncle, haven’t you noticed grandpa rarely calls you anymore? He’s considering your feelings. If you’re really unwilling, I don’t think grandpa will be too forceful.
But when I said you’re less mature than the young lady, don’t disagree. She knows how to repay her family for their support; you want to escape. That’s the difference between you and her."
