Chapter 1242: Relief
Li Yunqiao informed Chaoyang in the afternoon. Li Xue and he have already registered their marriage. But the wedding date hasn’t been set yet.
"Uncle, I’ll come over in the evening. Today is the day Master Shang goes to see the Chinese doctor. He hasn’t come back for lunch."
"Okay, only you can go, I’m going back home the day after tomorrow."
"Alright, Uncle, let my mom know that I’ll head home from here."
"Okay, are you doing alright over there?"
"Pretty busy, Uncle Han hardly handles things, it’s all on me."
"This is a great opportunity."
"Yes, Uncle Han is really trying to groom me. Plus, I’ve had contact with the power he holds here."
Li Yunqiao clicked his tongue, Wei Kaiyun is really treating Chaoyang like an apprentice, with this kind of focus, he has to learn.
"Chaoyang, you must seize this opportunity. It’s a rare good chance."
"I understand, Uncle, rest assured, everyone treats me very well."
"Good, I’m confident in you. As long as you know for yourself."
After hanging up the phone, Chaoyang went back to being busy.
On this side, Wei Kaiyun and Old Yang left together with Shang Zhenkun after having breakfast in the morning.
It was said last night that they could meet their leader today, so Jiang Xinyu didn’t go with them and Wei Kaiyun didn’t insist.
Actually, he also didn’t want his wife to see them. Although he knew it was a self-deceiving thought, he still had to do it.
The three took the bus, with Wei Kaiyun carrying mushrooms he brought from the Northeast as a meeting gift.
When they arrived, there were already some people in the yard.
Seeing Wei Kaiyun and Old Yang coming in, they nodded.
A middle-aged man approached, "Which one is Shang Zhenkun?"
"That’s me."
"Come with me, my master is waiting for you.
The rest of you wait in the room next door."
Wei Kaiyun and Old Yang both said yes.
They stayed until nearly noon before a group of people left.
Old Yang and Wei Kaiyun sat at the side drinking water, feeling at ease now.
Neither of them was troubled by not being utilized, rather they were very happy.
Their current focus is on family, and they were certainly willing not to go out.
They both knew Shang Zhenkun was undergoing acupuncture.
"I guess Master Shang can’t leave. He needs to come every three days for acupuncture." Old Yang said softly.
"Yes, just let Zhang Qiu’e stay."
Old Yang nodded, there were many people here, they could take care of things, but leaving the two of them made them a bit uneasy, especially since one was older and the other just an ordinary woman.
"It’s fine, Old Han will make arrangements."
"Originally, we decided not to go back. Now we have no choice but to stay."
"True, Guodong boy didn’t foresee this happening."
Wei Kaiyun laughed, he and Old Yang never had energy to think about such things during their younger, restless years. They were always just focused on tasks.
He was actually quite envious of Guodong, living life steadily wasn’t bad.
The two chatted quietly like this, talking about random topics, understanding each other genuinely, knowing they were truly relaxed now.
They had lunch at the doctor’s house, but Shang Zhenkun didn’t eat, as he had needles in him.
However, he fell asleep, "It’s good that he’s asleep. Sleep is the best time for a person to recover."
"Doctor, how many times do we need acupuncture?"
"At least nine times."
"Once every three days?"
"The first three times are every three days, then it’s once every ten days."
That amounts to almost three months. Wei Kaiyun calculated this in his mind and nodded, "The timing works."
They waited until 2 p.m., when Shang Zhenkun woke up, he moved his arms and legs, "Feels a lot lighter, quite nice."
Wei Kaiyun smiled and asked, "Master Shang, do you feel the effects?"
"Yes, feels a bit easier."
"That’s good, the doctor has instructed the two of us. You must keep up the treatment, let’s talk at home."
Shang Zhenkun had a bowl of rice porridge here and was given two pickles.
The three of them returned home at 3:30. Jiang Xinyu had been worried. Seeing the three return, she finally felt relieved.
"I’m fine, why are you so worried?" Shang Zhenkun smiled at Jiang Xinyu.
"I wasn’t worried."
"Xiao Jiang, I can’t go back with you guys." Guodong is getting married, and I won’t be able to make it back.
Jiang Xinyu looked at Wei Kaiyun.
"The doctor performed acupuncture on Master Shang today. He needs nine sessions eventually, the first three every three days, the latter six every ten days."
"Okay, Master Shang, you must stick to it.
Did the doctor give any other advice?"
Wei Kaiyun shook his head, regarding food, anything spicy or irritating is certainly off-limits. Nothing else was mentioned.
"Then let Sister Zhang stay and take care of Master Shang. It’s just worrying with only the two of them."
"Old Han will just send someone over."
"No need, I’m alright, Xiao Zhang can handle my meals."
Indeed, old people are like children. Seeing Shang Zhenkun’s unwilling expression, they decided not to discuss it further.
"Have you eaten?" Jiang Xinyu suddenly remembered to ask.
"Yes, but just plain rice porridge, and amaranth stalks." Shang Zhenkun was dissatisfied.
Jiang Xinyu immediately understood the doctor’s intention, it was to eat lightly.
"Okay, how about we have dumplings tonight? Cabbage and shrimp filling?"
Shang Zhenkun knew better, but still thought, at his age, did he need to avoid food?
"Cabbage and meat dumplings."
"Alright, I’ll get ready. Old Han won’t take the kids out for dinner tonight."
Having been with Wei Kaiyun for so many years, she understood him well, although he didn’t show it, she knew he was in a good mood. That’s fine, as long as he’s happy.
Chaoyang came over after work in the evening, just in time for dumplings.
"You’re right on time for dinner." Han Xiangjun joked with Chaoyang.
"Sure, the meals at Teacher Jiang’s are the best."
"Brother Chaoyang, you find the meals at my house good, but I think they’re just average." Shi Jing teased Chaoyang.
"You’re taking your blessings for granted. You’ve eaten outside and know no place beats home-cooked meals."
The family gathered in the living room after dinner to chat, while the kids played nearby.
"Teacher Jiang, my uncle called today, Guodong and Xue’er registered their marriage today."
Jiang Xinyu laughed, "Lv Beiguang is quite capable. Registering sets a sort of mutual commitment."
"Xinyu!"
Jiang Xinyu heard Wei Kaiyun’s words, knew he kept thinking about registering, but the two always missed the chance. She chose not to respond.
"Xiao Jiang, whenever you leave, it’s alright. Don’t worry about me, Xiao Zhang can cook for me."
"Alright, we’ll leave the day after tomorrow. Old Han, prepare the car tomorrow, we need to get ready, otherwise, it’ll be too inconvenient."
