Chapter 1647 - 1523: Cold and Stern
Kong Ningshuang’s expression shifted slightly; Ye Qingfeng had indeed struck at her earlier without the slightest hesitation.
"You don’t understand, there’s a reason for all of this. He attacked me because he wanted me to leave, and besides, his heart is filled with endless grief." Kong Ningshuang shook her head.
She knew it was Shui Yiyi’s death that had turned Ye Qingfeng into this.
This cold, harsh man was bearing an immense grief, and only then did that heaven-shaking fury erupt, needing to burn, needing to be unleashed!
"I don’t care what happened to him. He killed Ancient, so I will avenge Ancient!" Ge Min’s features were firm, the flames of rage flickering in his eyes. "Ancient treated me like family. If I can’t avenge him, I’m not fit to be human!"
"He’s not dead at all. Look carefully—his chest is still moving, his breathing still has rhythm. He’s only wounded. You can see all that for yourself; I don’t need to teach you, do I?"
Kong Ningshuang said bluntly.
"Wan Potian just tricked you into making a move, that’s all."
What?
Ancient isn’t dead?
Ge Min suddenly turned around. Just now he’d simply been too impulsive, hadn’t looked with any calm, and had believed Wan Potian at once.
Now, he could easily see that Gu Qingxian was merely injured.
"Ge Min, what are you still hesitating for? This is the time to serve the country, and you’re actually wasting time!" Wan Potian shouted furiously.
Ge Min, however, stood where he was, unmoving. If not for Gu Qingxian, he actually didn’t want to kill Ye Qingfeng that much.
And Kong Ningshuang had said Ye Qingfeng became like this for a reason. He wanted to know what exactly had happened to make Ye Qingfeng so brutal!
"Hmph! Useless trash!" Wan Potian snorted coldly, and at once a mouthful of fresh blood sprayed out. In an instant, the aura around him abruptly changed.
Wan Potian was actually forcing himself to sacrifice his own Life Force to suppress his injuries.
In a single instant, once Wan Potian had suppressed his wounds, he struck out savagely without hesitation, flying directly toward them.
"Out of my way!"
Wan Potian gave a cold snort, flicked his sleeve, and directly flung Ge Min aside.
His palm chopped down toward Ye Qingfeng. Kong Ningshuang hurriedly struck out, clashing head-on with Wan Potian.
Even though Wan Potian was heavily injured and his combat strength had fallen significantly, he still wasn’t someone Kong Ningshuang could compare to. Her delicate face turned pale, and her palms trembled slightly.
The gap in strength was too great!
Kong Ningshuang no longer hesitated. She scooped Ye Qingfeng up in her arms, turned, and ran.
She was not Wan Potian’s match.
A cold gleam flashed in Wan Potian’s eyes as he was about to give chase, when suddenly his expression changed and he spat out another mouthful of blood.
The explosive power of that earlier blood hand had been too great, and Blood Energy had even surged directly into his body, battering his internal organs. Right now, he was only forcing them down with Heaven and Earth Power.
"Ge Min, go, quickly! Kill that bastard!"
He no longer had the strength to pursue.
Ge Min’s expression kept shifting!
"Go, now. That’s an order! You’re from the military—have you forgotten that obeying orders is your duty?" Wan Potian said coldly.
"Yes!"
Ge Min turned and charged in the direction Kong Ningshuang had fled.
Running, pursuit!
The two of them sped through the great mountains. Kong Ningshuang was a High-level War King; with the help of Ye Qingfeng’s Elixirs, Ge Min had already reached Peak Battle King.
Their speeds weren’t actually that different, after all, Kong Ningshuang had come from one of the Eight Great Sects of the Ancient Martial World.
But because she was carrying Ye Qingfeng, Kong Ningshuang’s speed was ultimately somewhat slower; it was only a matter of time before Ge Min caught up.
Kong Ningshuang raced forward, her speed pushed to the very limit. She felt quite a bit of helplessness in her heart—originally, Ge Min had been helping Ye Qingfeng, had even come to warn Ye Qingfeng.
Now, it had somehow become Ge Min hunting Ye Qingfeng down.
"It’s all because this guy is too cold, striking out without even distinguishing between enemy and ally!" Kong Ningshuang thought helplessly.
But she had no time to think any more right now. She could only race desperately, pushing her speed to the extreme, hoping to escape Ge Min’s pursuit.
Luckily, that Wan Potian had been seriously wounded by Ye Qingfeng. If he were the one chasing personally, then there wouldn’t be even the slightest chance.
After more than ten minutes, the distance between them was already shrinking. Ge Min could make out Kong Ningshuang’s fleeing back.
"Stop. With your speed, it’s impossible to get away." Ge Min called out with a faint sigh.
Kong Ningshuang didn’t look back, and could only keep running.
After an hour.
Kong Ningshuang finally stopped. Before her lay a sheer cliff; she had nowhere left to retreat.
There was a mountain peak opposite, but it was several hundred meters away, and Kong Ningshuang herself was injured and unable to leap across.
No choice!
Only battle!
"I told you—you can’t escape." Ge Min said, his face calm.
"Then we fight!" Kong Ningshuang set Ye Qingfeng down, her delicate face icy cold.
"You can leave. The only order I received was about Ye Qingfeng." Ge Min said evenly.
"Clang!"
The Qingye Sword slid from its scabbard. Kong Ningshuang’s delicate face was frosty as she said, "Impossible!"
"You’re a genius of the Immortal Heart Sect, your talent no lower than Ma Gu’s or Dugu Xiao’s. Your future achievements are immeasurable. Why are you doing this?" Ge Min shook his head slightly.
Kong Ningshuang’s delicate face was calm as she fell silent. She didn’t know the answer to that question either.
But she had done it all the same.
Ge Min was silent for a while too, as if pondering, before he finally spoke. "Then tell me—why did Ye Qingfeng become like this?"
"Because someone died."
"That woman?"
"I understand." Ge Min had already guessed a few things. Though he didn’t know the exact process, he understood the cause.
"Go."
Kong Ningshuang was slightly stunned.
"Take Ye Qingfeng and go!" Ge Min clenched his fist and spoke harshly.
Clearly, he had made a huge decision as well.
Kong Ningshuang’s expression shifted. Only then did she clasp her hands in salute. "Thank you."
She was just about to pick Ye Qingfeng up when a cold voice rang out: "I knew it, Ge Min—you’re not loyal enough to me."
A figure slowly stepped out of the forest.
"Wan Potian!"
Wan Potian walked out at an unhurried pace, a cold smile on his face as he stared at Ge Min. "Last time you warned Ye Qingfeng, I let you go for Gu Qingxian’s sake. Now you’re getting more and more brazen!"
"Do you know what happens to those who betray me?"
Ge Min’s face showed a hint of surprise, but he still said firmly, "The one I serve is the country. I will never betray it!"
"But I’m your superior." Wan Potian shook his head, then a cold light flashed in his eyes and he chopped out with a palm. "Looks like you still haven’t recognized reality!"
"Thud!"
Ge Min was blasted away by a single palm, a mouthful of blood spraying out at once.
"Kong Ningshuang, this is your last chance. Move aside, or you’ll die together with him!" Wan Potian said coldly.
"Then kill me."
The Qingye Sword burst into a chill glow, cold light flashing. Kong Ningshuang didn’t retreat in the slightest.
"You really don’t know what’s good for you." Wan Potian slammed out a punch, carrying the force of a million jin, crushing everything in its path.
