Chapter 1660 - 1661: The Massive Passageway
At the end of the road, Ye Lingyun finally found the target he’d been looking for.
Under an external force, a huge building was directly flipped over, revealing beneath it a massive passage. This should be the place where the Alabasta Kingdom kept its ancient documents.
Even though it was already dark, Ye Lingyun still rushed in without hesitation. Lu Fei hadn’t recovered in time this round; he was still in the Imperial Palace. No one in the Imperial Palace could stop Croda.
The passage here wasn’t complicated. Whoever built this tunnel probably thought that if they were discovered and killed down here, any extra branches wouldn’t stop the enemy anyway.
That was good news for Ye Lingyun. He didn’t need to waste his genetic abilities; he could sprint straight ahead and find them.
"Bastard! I knew you’d betray me! Woman, do you really think I don’t dare kill you?" Crocodile sounded furious, arguing with Robin inside.
"I don’t understand what you mean. There’s absolutely nothing in this document you need. You want me to help you fill in the gaps?"
Crocodile sneered. "You think I don’t know what you’re plotting! Even if what you say is true, it just means you no longer have any use value! You think I’d keep you around?"
"This operation is definitely going to be spotted by the Navy, but with my strength the Navy probably won’t go all‑out chasing me. You’re different. As long as you’re tailing me and word gets out, the Navy will deploy its strongest forces to hunt me everywhere."
Crocodile laid bare his utterly selfish nature, and then Robin let out a groan.
Ye Lingyun couldn’t wait any longer. He could only use his sound‑sense to trigger space transmission immediately. Otherwise, Robin would definitely die at Croda’s hands.
Swish!
When Ye Lingyun came out of the wormhole, he was crying on the inside. He had indeed found Croda and Robin, but what faced him was Robin’s terrified face—Crocda was nowhere in sight!
Which meant Crocodile was behind him right now!
It was impossible to use space transmission again instantly, and there was no way Croda, with that kind of power and reaction speed, would ignore Ye Lingyun. A huge force came from behind, seemingly with an extremely strong cutting power.
"Space Lock!"
At that moment, Ye Lingyun didn’t dodge in time. Instead he lunged forward, scooped Robin into his arms, and suddenly rolled over!
The space behind Ye Lingyun abruptly solidified, blocking off the distance between him and Croda. Of course, using such a rushed move it was impossible to fully stop Croda’s attack, but it did slow it down a little.
As he rolled with Robin in his arms, the violent sandstorm skimmed right over his back, instantly soaking it in blood.
"Where did you come from? Who sent you? You trying to stop me?" Crocodile had zero intel on Ye Lingyun, but even after this kid got wounded directly by his own hand, his attitude stayed calm.
Ye Lingyun’s situation was a bit bad. All this time he’d always thought of Croda as the first real warrior he’d fight to the death.
In his mind he’d run through the course of this battle countless times. The one thing he hadn’t expected was to get injured by the man’s hand the instant they met!
The truth was, Ye Lingyun’s physical body still hadn’t fully recovered. Now, as soon as he did intense movement, the pain in his back would invade his brain, almost impossible to bear.
Then he turned to face his opponent.
Then he turned to face his opponent.
"You, you’re hurt!" On the other side, Robin was also extremely shocked by Ye Lingyun’s sudden appearance, but what she cared about more was the choice Ye Lingyun made at that dangerous moment!
The very first time he met her, this person didn’t even care about his own danger. He helped her dodge Croda’s attack. If he’d dodged immediately, he wouldn’t have been injured, but whoever fell to the ground instead would have been killed!
This was a feeling Robin had never experienced before. Ever since she was very young, everyone around her had either treated her as a dangerous person or a burden. She’d relied only on all her brainpower, determination, and thirst to survive.
"Oh, it’s just a scratch. Get to the side first. Croda’s external arrangements have all been wrecked, but if we don’t capture him, this battle here can’t be counted as our victory."
"What?" Crocodile frowned, realizing something was off.
Had he seen through the setup in Albana? Even if Crocodile’s main objective was Hades, Alabasta would still be an important stronghold, even a bargaining chip against the Navy at a critical moment.
"Damn brat! I’ll let you die here first!"
Whether the kid was bluffing or not, Croda had to kill Ye Lingyun as quickly as possible, then get out and see how the situation was developing.
Without even having time to ask the boy’s name, Crocodile suddenly turned into a cloud of dust, and the metal hook on his hand stabbed toward most of Ye Lingyun’s body.
Thud!
However, his attack didn’t get anywhere near Ye Lingyun.
Ye Lingyun was already at the bottom of the hold, looking at the loot in front of him, feeling oddly satisfied.
Yet just as he drew close, he suddenly stopped all movement.
Then the expression on his face froze.
Because he felt as if there was some nameless, powerful force around him.
This force, at least, was something he couldn’t resist.
"What’s going on?"
Ye Lingyun frowned. How could there be such an unknown, indescribable power in this world? It didn’t make sense.
Ye Lingyun’s movements were completely restricted as well, as if the power was aimed specifically at him.
Sure enough, Ye Lingyun slowly realized that the power inside his body was draining away bit by bit, and in this situation he was utterly helpless.
"What the hell is this?"
Facing the circumstances today, even he was at a loss and could only wait.
Slowly, Ye Lingyun’s strength was nearly exhausted, and he suddenly collapsed to the ground.
"Huff... huff..."
Ye Lingyun was panting hard, sweat pouring down his face.
The loss of power had left him like an empty shell.
Ye Lingyun stood up; this sense of weakness was something he hadn’t felt in a long time.
Now it was clear.
"Well, I don’t know how they’ll react if 087 finds out I suddenly became like this."
Ye Lingyun felt a bit dejected.
At that moment, the airflow around him suddenly began to spin rapidly, and you could clearly see what seemed like a time‑space tunnel forming right in front of him.
As if someone had ripped open reality with their forehead.
Ye Lingyun wasn’t too surprised, because he’d already realized that ever since he passed through last time, he could never predict when he’d run into a situation like this again.
He just hadn’t expected that day to come so soon.
Ye Lingyun had already accepted his fate.
Sure enough, what happened next was exactly what he’d anticipated.
A strong suction force suddenly appeared in the passage, slowly dragging Ye Lingyun into it.
A few seconds later, Ye Lingyun had been completely swallowed by the strait‑like tunnel.
During this time, that strange power disappeared, and Ye Lingyun regained his freedom as well.
"Hah, this time’s much better than the last. I don’t have to play separation and recombination again; I can just pass straight through."
That left Ye Lingyun quite satisfied.
"Well, it’s just... if they suddenly find I’m missing, they’ll be worried."
"No time to leave them a message."
In Ye Lingyun’s mouth, "they" were still Wei Wei and Korea.
"Sigh."
Thinking of this, Ye Lingyun couldn’t help but let out a sigh.
At that moment, the power of the tunnel slowly weakened, and right in front of him a huge maw suddenly opened.
As if torn open by that same unknown power.
Clearly, once the passage was ripped open, it suddenly filled with gravity, and Ye Lingyun fell straight down.
Plop!
