Chapter 11: Pretending Nothing Happened
Seeing Bai Zhouyun's expression soften slightly, Yun Feiyu was delighted. He knew he had guessed Bai Zhouyun's thoughts correctly, so he struck while the iron was hot.
"Once Classmate Nan Yu realizes he was wrong, he'll definitely come and apologize to you on his own. After all, this wasn't your fault at all. It was that Ability Beast that suddenly appeared. Everyone could tell it was {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} just a misunderstanding."
In other words, Nan Yu was simply too petty to let go of such a trivial misunderstanding.
After hearing him, Bai Zhouyun became even more convinced that he had done nothing wrong.
"You're right. Since it's not my fault, if he wants to be angry, then let him."
Having figured things out, Bai Zhouyun put the matter aside and started chatting and laughing with Yun Feiyu. The atmosphere became more and more pleasant.
But the butler standing in the corner didn't think so.
If Bai Zhouyun and Nan Yu's relationship could be maintained so easily, Old Master Bai wouldn't have constantly hoped that Bai Zhouyun would take the initiative to grow closer to him.
Although the two of them did indeed have a marriage engagement...
After all these years, even Old Master Bai himself could tell that it had always been Nan Yu doing all the chasing. His grandson simply didn't seem to care all that much about Nan Yu. Sooner or later, if Nan Yu became tired and no longer wanted to keep running after him, their relationship would be finished.
Logically speaking, Old Master Bai was a reasonable man.
But he simply couldn't bear to lose a treasure like Nan Yu, so he could only turn a blind eye and pretend not to know.
As long as they got married before Nan Yu became completely disappointed in Bai Zhouyun, then even if they merely treated each other with courtesy in the future, he wouldn't care. As long as Nan Yu remained in the Bai family...
It wasn't long before Old Master Bai learned about the incident from the butler.
"What did you say?"
"That child Xiao Yu really did something like that? Was he that angry?"
The butler replied, "I didn't see it personally. When I arrived, only Young Master and his two classmates were there. Xiao Yu had already left. He left with the school's grade director. I heard that before leaving, he even remotely controlled the hovercraft to switch to autopilot and leave."
That was why Bai Zhouyun had needed him to come and pick him up.
Old Master Bai asked, "Do you think Xiao Yu has ever been this angry before?"
"Definitely not. Not once. Something must have happened that he absolutely couldn't tolerate, otherwise he wouldn't have become so angry."
Old Master Bai frowned.
"So did you ask that brat? Doesn't he know how good Xiao Yu is? Doesn't he know to go coax him? Even if he gets beaten up by the elders of the Nan family, so what?"
In Old Master Bai's opinion, if getting beaten a few times could win Nan Yu back, wasn't that only natural?
Other people wouldn't even have the opportunity to be beaten!
Why was his grandson so obsessed with his pride all day long? What use was pride? He didn't even work hard to become stronger and spent every day doing nothing but playing around!
Thinking of this, Old Master Bai became even more disappointed.
"Why is there only one grandson in this generation? If there were others..."
He stopped there.
For an elder to utter such words, Bai Zhouyun had truly failed as a junior.
Indeed, Bai Zhouyun was an only child. He was the sole heir of the Bai family and had been spoiled since childhood. Given such an upbringing, his personality wasn't difficult to understand.
As soon as Bai Zhouyun returned home, he changed his clothes and immediately went out to have fun with his like-minded friends, without the slightest burden on his conscience.
When Old Master Bai found out, he was furious again, but in the end he waved his hand.
"Forget it. We'll talk after he gets back."
If he dragged him back immediately after he had just gone out, Bai Zhouyun would probably get angry as well. If that intensified the misunderstanding between the two youngsters, things would only become worse.
At this moment, Nan Yu was communicating with his new friend through mental power.
In reality, he was cultivating his mental power.
Around evening, however, Nan Zhen came upstairs and knocked on the door.
Nan Yu put the miniature flowerpot back into his spatial button. Fortunately, his spatial button could store living things, allowing him to keep the Nianshen Grass there. Otherwise...
Nan Zhen called out, "Xiao Yu, are you inside?"
Nan Yu answered, "Second Brother, what's the matter? Is it dinner time?"
Nan Zhen replied, "Come out first. I have something to ask you. We can talk on the way. Dad wants to take us out for dinner."
Nan Yu frowned slightly but still went over to open the door.
"Second Brother?"
Nan Zhen smiled.
"Come with me first. We can talk while walking. Dad said he's taking us out to eat."
Nan Yu followed him and casually closed the door behind him.
"We're eating outside? Are we going to Zhenxiu Pavilion?"
Nan Zhen's lips curled upward.
"Yeah. I knew you'd like that. Dad happens to be free today, so it's a rare chance for him to take us there."
Zhenxiu Pavilion wasn't open to the public. Only those with distinguished military ranks in the Imperial military could dine there. It specifically served officers and their families. As long as their identities were verified, they could eat there free of charge.
This was one of the Empire's benefits for military personnel.
Since being reborn, Nan Yu's mood had finally improved considerably, and the smile on his face became much more genuine.
"Really? Then let's hurry!"
By the time they reached downstairs, Nan Ming was already waiting.
"Why are you two so slow?"
He reached out and rubbed Nan Yu's head. Nan Yu didn't resist.
"Dad, isn't it normal for me to walk a little slower?"
Nan Ming laughed.
"Alright, get on the hovercraft first. We'll head to Zhenxiu Pavilion."
Nan Ming held the rank of Major General. Only officers with the rank of Major or above could bring their families to Zhenxiu Pavilion, and reservations were mandatory.
There were limited seats, and the ingredients prepared each day were fixed in quantity. Even if many people came, they might not all get to eat, which was why appointments had to be made in advance.
Tonight just happened to be Nan Ming's turn.
"Dad, it's rare for you to remember what I like to eat. I haven't had it in so long. Just thinking about it makes me hungry."
Nan Ming laughed.
"You little glutton. You only went there once last month."
Nan Yu thought to himself that, counting his previous life, it had actually been many years since he'd been there.
"Once a month isn't enough. It would be great if I could eat there every day."
Unfortunately, all the chefs at Zhenxiu Pavilion belonged to the Imperial Family. It was impossible to poach them. Otherwise, how wonderful it would be to bring one to the Nan family.
"I'm really jealous of the Imperial Family. They get to eat it every day."
Nan Ming sighed and shook his head.
"It's fine to say things like that in front of family."
Nan Yu grinned.
"I know. That's why I only say it around family. Have I ever said anything like that outside?"
Nan Ming nodded.
"Let's go. I reserved six o'clock. It's already five-ten."
Nan Yu was so happy that he had completely forgotten about Bai Zhouyun.
However, while the hovercraft was heading toward Zhenxiu Pavilion, Nan Ming finally brought up the matter.
"Earlier, Dad received a call from Old Master Bai. He said you had a little disagreement with that boy from the Bai family?"
As soon as he heard Bai Zhouyun's name, Nan Yu's mouth twitched, and his expression became somewhat strange. Then he snorted coldly.
"Hmph!"
"Dad, are you planning to speak up for Bai Zhouyun in front of me?"
