Reborn as a Dragon:Rise of The Draconic King

Chapter 134 - 129: Farewell to the Hidden Realm (Part 1)

Sponsored

Golden leaves drifted silently through the sky.

The storm that had plagued the Hidden Realm for thousands of years was gone.

For the first time since John and his companions had arrived, sunlight reached every corner of the sanctuary.

The crystal rivers sparkled beneath the warm light.

The World Tree’s branches swayed gently in the breeze.

Life had returned.

Not completely.

Many scars still remained.

Broken temples lay scattered throughout the valley, while ancient battlefields still carried the marks of wars long forgotten.

Healing...

Would take time.

Just as people did.

---

John stood beneath the enormous World Tree.

For several moments, no one spoke.

Lythriel was the first to break the silence.

"...Well?"

John blinked.

"Well what?"

She crossed her arms.

"What happened in there?"

"You were gone forever."

Sylvara gently corrected her.

"It was only about half an hour."

"It felt longer."

Aerion chuckled.

"That’s because you spent most of it pacing."

"I was not pacing."

"You wore a path into the ground."

Lythriel opened her mouth to argue before realizing everyone was smiling at her.

"...Fine."

"I paced."

John couldn’t help laughing.

Some things never changed.

---

The Soul Raven slowly descended from the sky.

Although much of the corruption had been cleansed, traces of black crystal still clung to the edges of its wings.

Its golden eyes, however, had regained their former warmth.

It lowered its head before John.

"Heir."

John immediately shook his head.

"You don’t have to bow."

The ancient guardian lifted its gaze.

"It is not because you are stronger."

"It is because you accepted the burden."

John remained silent.

The Soul Raven continued.

"For thousands of years..."

"I waited for someone."

"I believed I was waiting for another Dragon King."

It looked toward the World Tree.

"I was mistaken."

John frowned slightly.

"What do you mean?"

"I was waiting for hope."

Those simple words settled deeply in everyone’s heart.

---

Caelis leaned on his wooden staff and smiled.

"I suppose that means my work here is finally done."

Lythriel looked at him.

"You sound like you’re retiring."

The old mage laughed.

"I’ve earned it."

"You’ve been protecting this place alone for longer than kingdoms have existed."

Aerion nodded respectfully.

"Few could have endured that."

Caelis looked toward the World Tree.

"I wasn’t alone."

"The Tree kept me company."

The World Tree’s leaves rustled softly, almost in agreement.

---

Sylvara approached John.

She studied him carefully.

"...You’re different."

John smiled.

"So everyone keeps saying."

"No."

She shook her head.

"I don’t mean stronger."

John tilted his head.

"Then what?"

She searched for the right words.

"When we first met..."

"You carried your strength like a weapon."

She placed a hand over her chest.

"Now..."

"You carry it like a responsibility."

John looked away for a moment.

"...I had good teachers."

His eyes briefly drifted toward Caelis.

Toward the Soul Raven.

Toward the World Tree towering above them.

And finally...

Toward his companions.

He hadn’t grown alone.

Not once.

---

A familiar chime interrupted the quiet.

---

John read the final line twice.

"...Ancient guardians?"

Caelis noticed.

"What is it?"

John explained.

The old mage smiled knowingly.

"The world is older than you imagine."

"There are many hidden places like this one."

Lythriel’s eyes widened.

"...Seriously?"

Caelis nodded.

"Not many."

"But enough."

"The world still keeps secrets."

---

John quietly stored the notification away.

He didn’t focus on the rewards.

Instead...

One sentence lingered in his thoughts.

**Hidden Realm Recognized as Allied Territory.**

He looked around the sanctuary.

"I can come back."

The World Tree answered through the rustling leaves.

"You will always be welcome."

---

The ancient champions slowly approached.

Unlike before...

The corruption had disappeared from their eyes.

One by one, they removed their helmets.

John saw faces from races that no longer existed.

Crystal giants.

Ancient elves.

Dragonkin.

Even humans whose clothing belonged to civilizations erased by time.

An elderly giant stepped forward first.

His stone-like beard reached his waist.

With both hands, he planted his enormous hammer into the ground before kneeling.

"My King."

John immediately stepped back.

"...Please don’t."

The giant looked confused.

"I am not your king."

The giant smiled kindly.

"No."

"Not yet."

The words surprised John.

One after another...

The remaining guardians bowed as well.

Not out of obligation.

Out of respect.

The gesture wasn’t for what John had accomplished.

It was for the person they believed he could become.

John felt strangely uncomfortable.

"I still have so much to learn."

The elderly giant nodded.

"As did every great ruler."

---

The Soul Raven spread its restored wings.

Its feathers reflected sunlight once again.

"I once believed my duty ended with protecting this sanctuary."

It looked toward the horizon.

"Perhaps..."

"...it is time I see the world again."

Lythriel grinned.

"You want to travel?"

The guardian gave a surprisingly playful chirp.

"I have been trapped here for over ten thousand years."

"I believe I deserve a vacation."

Even Aerion laughed.

"I can’t argue with that."

John smiled.

"You’d be welcome."

The Soul Raven looked at the World Tree.

Only after several seconds did the ancient tree answer.

"My old friend."

"You have fulfilled your oath."

"The world awaits you once more."

The guardian closed its eyes.

For the first time in millennia...

It felt free.

---

As the group prepared to leave, John took one last look at the Hidden Realm.

When he had first entered...

It had been a land consumed by corruption and despair.

Now...

Flowers bloomed between the crystal stones.

The rivers flowed with clear water.

Ancient spirits emerged cautiously from the forests, watching from a distance before offering respectful bows to the travelers.

The sanctuary lived again.

Not because every wound had healed.

But because healing had finally begun.

John smiled.

Sometimes...

Victory wasn’t about destroying an enemy.

Sometimes...

It was simply giving people a chance to build tomorrow.

He turned toward his companions.

"Ready?"

Lythriel twirled her spear onto her shoulder.

"I’ve been ready for twenty minutes."

Aerion adjusted the strap of his sword.

"I’d like a real bed."

Sylvara laughed softly.

"And a proper meal."

The Soul Raven looked toward the open sky.

"I would like to remember what clouds feel like."

John chuckled.

"Then let’s go home."

Together, they walked toward the ancient portal beneath the World Tree.

None of them noticed that, deep beneath the roots where the False Heart had once slept, a single black fragment—no larger than a pebble—remained hidden.

It no longer possessed enough power to threaten the World Tree.

But it was not truly destroyed.

As the portal closed behind John and his companions, the fragment pulsed once.

Far beyond the world’s edge, something impossibly distant stirred—not awakening, merely acknowledging that one of its countless fragments had fallen silent.

Then, the silence returned.
