Chapter 1846 - 1848: Rescued
"Jingjing, don’t be afraid, I’ll call someone to rescue you right now."
Xiaotian anxiously said this and then ran off, shouting as he went, "Hurry, someone come here, Miss Jingjing has fallen into the water, hurry!"
The house servants heard the noise and quickly ran over. Seeing a guest had fallen into the water, which was a big deal, they hurriedly jumped in to rescue her.
Seeing people going down to rescue her and noticing Miss Jingjing struggling and having a rough time, Xiaotian spoke again, "Jingjing, just stand up, the lake isn’t deep, it doesn’t even go over your head, if you just stand up you’ll be fine."
But even though he said that, Jingjing was already scared out of her wits underwater, she couldn’t remember to stand up. Besides, she couldn’t swim and was so frightened she just floundered around, and after a while, her leg cramped, and she drank a few mouthfuls of lake water, finally getting rescued by the servants.
After getting ashore, Miss Jingjing was all wet, her hair draped with water plants, looking as bedraggled as could be.
At this moment, Xiaotian really took on a host’s attitude, "Quick, get a blanket for Miss Jingjing, you there, go to the kitchen and boil ginger soup so Miss Jingjing doesn’t catch a cold, and you, help Miss Jingjing back."
The maids busied themselves following the orders.
Xiaotian asked with concern, "Jingjing, are you okay, can you walk? Let’s quickly get back inside and change into some dry clothes."
The Little Maid also quickly went up to support Miss Jingjing, to help her back inside.
But just at this moment, there was a sudden farting noise from beneath Jingjing, followed by a foul stench.
The house servants who had come ashore didn’t know the smell was coming from Miss Jingjing, and they all said, "Where’s that smell coming from?"
One of the house servants in charge sternly said, "You all hold it in if you have to fart, do you have any manners in front of the young lady?"
One by one, the house servants protested their innocence, "It wasn’t me."
"It wasn’t me."
"..."
"..."
Xiaotian held back laughter and quickly let the servants leave, "Alright, I’m not blaming you, you can go now."
Only then did the house servants leave one by one, and by this time, the Little Maid who went to retrieve a blanket had returned.
"Jingjing, wrap this around yourself quickly, don’t catch a cold, let’s just go back, it’s all your sister-in-law’s fault, your sister-in-law was just about to fall, and pulled you by accident, causing you to fall into the lake. Your sister-in-law is really so foolish, never thought I’d drag you into the lake, if you blame anyone, blame your sister-in-law, your sister-in-law can’t swim either..."
Xiaotian said this while giving Jingjing the blanket, occasionally wiping her eyes. She wasn’t pitying Jingjing, but thinking her daughter almost fell to her death just now brought tears to her eyes.
Listening to what Xiaotian said, Miss Jingjing decided to stop pretending, stood up, and glared angrily at Xiaotian, her eyes full of tears of grievance and resentment.
She was always the one playing tricks on others, no one had ever tricked her.
Today she felt utterly humiliated, such a noble person as herself had been carried by a servant, drank a few mouthfuls of dirty lake water having fallen in, and was soaked, ruining her pretty image.
The most annoying thing was, she didn’t even know where the fart had come from, and it ended up happening in public, not sure if it was from being soaked in cold lake water, she now felt cold all over and needed to use the toilet, barely able to hold it in.
She said furiously, "I’m going to go tell Aunt Pei, tell her you bullied me, wah wah."
