The sword cut through Michael’s neck cleanly, decapitating him. His head soon turned into wisps of prismatic drops, revealing Michael’s figure to be a clone.

"Tsk," the Ersatz assassin cursed. A prismatic beam shot through his shoulder, shattering the Nascent Spirit armor like it was a crystal. "URGH!"

Blood spurted out of the Ersatz assassin’s shoulder, before a black goo emerged out of his armor and patched up the injury within seconds. "Who... who are you?"

Michael shrugged. "I’m just a friendly, neighborhood company owner."

The Ersatz assassin charged towards Michael, swinging his sword with great force and speed. He didn’t care if his form was bad. He only wanted to cut through his opponent with ease.

But Michael was slippery. Golden nanoparticles appeared around his body, forming a tight-fitting golden armor that seemed to move and flow as if it was made out of liquid gold.

As soon as the blade was about to hit him, boosters would appear in Michael’s boots and jettison him away into safety.

The assassin tried to use a sword technique, one that used the power of a centipede to create a chainsaw-like effect that would cut through any kind of material, even Nascent Spirit armor itself.

However, Michael’s golden armor adapted immediately. It created a soft, outer layer like that of slime. As soon as the chainsaw-like sword was about to cleave its way through Michael’s armor, that slime would immediately mire its movements until it was completely shut down.

"ARGH! YOU ARE FRUSTRATING TO FIGHT!" the assassin shouted. "Red Mankeys! Kill this—"

The assassin wanted to command his new army of zombies to fight for him, but unfortunately, the Shadow Orcs were making quick work of them. These slippery little shadows would appear and disappear from out of nowhere, striking at the Red Mankeys’ weaknesses with great precision.

This was a much better and a more improved version of the guerilla tactics that the demi-humans employed!

"You okay back there?" Michael asked the Shadow Orcs.

"BU TO TO!"

"RAH TA TA!"

"This fight will feed our hunger for advancement!"

Michael didn’t need to worry about them. In fact, he was worried for the Red Mankeys. He did instruct them to keep the destruction at minimum and to prevent any one of them from dying, but there was always a chance that they get too excited.

"WHERE ARE YOU LOOKING AT?!" the assassin charged at Michael.

Michael raised his hand. And suddenly, large metal plates began to form around his entire arm, creating a sort of a mini-cannon filled with electrical circuits.

"I’ve always wanted to try this out," he said.

He pointed his new weapon at the Ersatz assassin and fired.

Immediately, hundreds upon hundreds of Unity guns discharged towards the assassin at the same time. Each one, battering the man and destroying his Nascent Spirit armor piece by piece.

This was none other than Michael’s new weapon, the gatling gun!

The Ersatz assassin was of no use as each weapon blew him farther and farther away from Michael. Each bullet was like a cannon, stunning him, preventing him from being even able to protect himself.

It wasn’t long before his body was riddled with blood and holes. Even the strange, black goo in his Nascent Armor wasn’t enough to mitigate the damage that the gatling gun had done to him.

"Haa.... haaa...."

Michael released his grip on his gatling gun. The golden particles soon dispersed, returning back to the golden armor surrounding his body.

"Now, will you tell me what you’re planning?"

The Ersatz assassin looked around, realizing that he was fighting a losing battle. He assessed the situation, before making the decision to make a quick escape.

Black goo exploded out of his Nascent Armor, creating a void of darkness that encompassed the entire Sacred Tree. No one could see past two meters in front of them.

But not Michael. "Such Nascent Influence don’t work on me," he said, trying to make himself look grand.

He looked sideward, towards the Ersatz assassin trying to run away. "You’re not going to get away that easily," he said.

He once again raised his hand, and soon, those golden particles emerged and began to form an entirely new shape.

Beneath his two hands, a handle was created. And above that handle, a rod with the length of an entire human began to form. And then, a very thin line of golden particles attached to the top of that rod, forming a fishing line!

Michael pulled the fishing rod as far back as he could, before whipping it towards the fleeing Ersatz assassin. The golden line whizzed through the air, before eventually finding itself at the very hem of the Ersatz assassin’s Nascent Armor.

He was hooked and had nowhere to go. "Get this off of me!"

The assassin’s Aubility Power surged, manipulating the very fabric of reality itself to try and escape out of the clutches of Michael’s fishing line. He stepped forwards, creating a warp in reality that allowed him to teleport away into safety.

And if it was an ordinary line, the assassin would have easily been able to escape.

Unfortunately, the fishing line was made out of Nascent Spirit as well.

The line tightened in Michael’s fishing rod. He immediately began reeling it in, trying to fight against the force of the ’fish’ trying to escape from his grasp.

The rod bent against the pull and push from both forces. But it held firm. Michael gathered up his strength before pulling the line up one last time.

And suddenly, that same warp in reality appeared once again. But this time, it spewed out the Ersatz assassin trying to escape.

"Got ya!" Michael triumphantly cheered. "What a catch!"

The Ersatz assassin struggled against the golden line restricting his arms against his body. "You... you think you won? Ersatz will not lose. We will not lose."

He started to laugh. "That’s right. We. I’m not the only one here. There are more of us. And by now, they have probably killed the other human and demi-human factions in this chasm. And in the end, there’s only you left."
