Sophia stood in shock, along with Wentworth and Heimdall.

"W-What... h-have... y-you... done?" Her voice cracked, her vision instantly went blurry as she stared at her first born son laying on the ground, bleeding all over it.

"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!! EZRA!? EZRA!?" She called out to the boy as she shook his body frantically, but there was no response.

Wentworth and Heimdall could only watch in shock as their brother’s lifeless body lay on the ground. The woman got up and pushed the man aggressively. "YOU KILLED MY SON!!" She was screaming like a crazed person but there was unfortunately no people around. The tree was situated in the middle of a space that almost nobody ever visited.

The man hissed and hit her hard. A loud thud sounded against her forehead, being an adult she was able to withstand the brunt of the attack better than Ezra, but it still left her bloodied and weak, but she clung on.

"Leave me, bitch! What the hell do you even think you’re doing!" Luke yelled and hit her again, but she clung on to him. Wentworth could not bear the sight of his mother getting beaten anymore and ran over to her side, but a cronie grabbed him quickly and hit him across the face.

A huge gash wound opened on his cheek and his blood dropped onto his tattered clothes.

The woman who was gripping onto Luke caught sight of a dagger that rested in a holster that was fastened on his waist. She immediately grabbed said dagger by the handle and pulled it out of the holster, she drove the dagger towards him with all her might...

But he was faster, he grabbed her hand and held her in place. "What the fuck are you doing?!" He said as they both struggled for the dagger. She’s tried to attack him while he defended himself.

Her eyes were covered in tears as she acted out of emotions. Heimdall watched and cowered in fear at the sight, he had always been a weak boy, he saw the fate of his two brothers and knew instinctively that there was no way he could affect this tussle whatsoever.

After a while of struggling between the two people, Luke and Sophia. Suddenly a loud cry was heard, it came from Sophia, her mouth was wide open as she looked directly into Luke’s eyes, the life slowly draining out of hers.

The tussle had led to her being stabled in the chest. "G-Gahhh—M-My c-children..." she muttered as she slumped onto the ground.

Wentworth and Heimdall gasped as tears immediately welled in their eyes, they had just watched their mother and brother die for no reason in particular.

In that moment, Heimdall felt something inside him, it was as though he could hear a voice, but no one was talking.

Through his tears, he looked at Luke.

’Fucking bitch, why did you go and fucking grab the knife. No matter, we need to grab the other two children so they don’t end up as witnesses.’

These were the words he heard, but something was wrong. Luke’s mouth wasn’t moving, infact, no one was talking.

Even though he was young, his body had already entered fight or flight mode, and he knew that if he stayed there, he would end up like his mother and brother. His self preservation senses kicked in and he ran as fast as he could, with tears in his eyes and wind in his face. He left his brother there, an action he would regret for the rest of his life.

He later had his awakening at the age of Eleven. Ever since then, the man had been able to read the minds of unsuspecting people, which helped him to rise to the top pretty quickly, but not without effort.

Even as a mind reader, things didn’t always go as expected.

Keeping his eyes closed was just something he had developed over time, he chose to willingly not gaze upon the filth that was the world. It was a horrible place, a place where the weak were trampled upon, and the strong were exhalted.

Running away was the greatest act of weakness that he had exhibited in his life time, he wished never to be weak again.

This was the reason why he had been with the Primarch for all this time, the Primarch was one of the only few people who shared his philosophies about life. Another was a man he had met a while ago, named Savant Hardin.

"You remind me of someone I used to know, resilient and unapologetic in your dealings. I hope you can show all that on the battleground." Heimdall finally said with a smile.

"I plan to give my best, Sir Heimdall." Jacob responded.

"Oh please! Stop with the formalities, you can just call me Heimdall."

"Well, in that case you can just call me Jacob."

The two men smiled at each other, the tension in the air still as thick as ever, both of them were ready to peel out their weapons and get straight to business in that moment.

But as eager as they were, they were also patient.

Heimdall was soon on his way; there were two days left now till the battle, even though it would only occur in front of the Primarch and probably some family members, it felt like the biggest fight of Jacob’s life.

It certainly was a challenge, even the general of the demon king didn’t scare him this much, then again, maybe it was all in his head, he would find out soon.

He went into his room, where he ment Xenia cultivating as usual, he pondered for a moment of she as a robot or a regular human being. She didn’t take account of him, either she was completely engulfed, or just didn’t want to be disturbed. He didn’t think too much of it either, he just went straight to the washroom to freshen himself up.
