Chapter 182: Can This Clear Her Name?
Ruan Hongfei was absolutely furious.
She never expected this idiot to be so utterly foolish.
She couldn’t stop herself from growling at the fool, "Shut up."
The biggest regret of her life—was getting this idiot involved.
Bo Xue looked at Ruan Hongfei in disbelief. ’Did Ruan Hongfei just yell at me?’
Ruan Hongfei took a deep breath, her eyes turning red.
"Cousin, I still don’t fully understand what’s going on, but how could you say something like that?"
"When did I ever tell you that I was dating Mr. Qin Wenhao? When did I ever say I was going to marry him? Mr. Qin Wenhao and I have no connection whatsoever! How could you set me up like this?"
Bo Xue’s eyes went wide.
’Wait—wasn’t she the one who told me all of this?’
’Otherwise, how would I have known?’
Panicked, she immediately tried to argue back.
But Ruan Hongfei didn’t give her the chance.
"Cousin, how could you spout such slanderous nonsense? Don’t you realize how much of an impact your baseless accusations can have on people?"
"Anyone who didn’t know better would think we have some deep-seated grudge, for you to set me up like this. I’m so disappointed in you."
Her string of accusations, combined with her hurt and disappointed expression, convinced everyone present that she was the true victim, betrayed by her own cousin.
"You... you... I... I..." Bo Xue was stunned, unable to believe her ears.
’What on earth is Ruan Hongfei talking about?’
’What does she mean, I’m slandering her? What’s this about a deep-seated grudge? How am I setting her up?’
’Why can’t I understand a single thing she’s saying?’
Ruan Hongfei turned to Fu Mingxue, her eyes red, and bowed deeply.
"I’m sorry, Ms. Fu. I had no idea my cousin would say such things. I apologize on her behalf for all the trouble this has caused you—"
The moment she finished speaking, Bo Xue, who had been too stunned to react, finally exploded.
"Ruan Hongfei, what’s the meaning of this? Weren’t you the one who—"
Ruan Hongfei whipped her head around. Her glare shot toward Bo Xue, whose unfinished words caught in her throat. She had seen the threat in her cousin’s eyes.
While the two cousins were locked in a silent battle of glares,
Fu Mingxue couldn’t be bothered to waste time.
She addressed the police directly:
"Officers, I need you to investigate this case. My husband and I had a childhood engagement, and he is a man of honor and integrity. Now, we’re being slandered by these two cousins, and I demand a thorough investigation."
"Furthermore, they must issue a public apology to my husband and me."
Qin Wenhao’s cold, harsh voice cut in.
"I second my wife’s request. This must be investigated thoroughly. This kind of malicious slander is an act of undermining a military marriage."
"Furthermore, let me reiterate—I am not involved with any woman besides my wife. I have absolutely no connection to Ms. Ruan Hongfei here.
I will not tolerate these baseless accusations and slander. It’s not just an attack on my character; it has caused my wife a great deal of pain."
Color drained from Ruan Hongfei’s face when she heard him speak.
"—Qin Tuan, I really wasn’t the one who told her this! I didn’t know—"
Qin Wenhao’s eyes were filled with cold fury.
"I don’t know either of you. I’ve never even met her. So how could she possibly identify me? Isn’t it obvious you fed her a story you fabricated together? If it wasn’t you, then what is she, a secret agent?"
