Chapter 159: It’s Great to Have a Wife
Just as Fu Mingxue was about to get dressed and out of bed,
the door opened, and the culprit from last night walked in.
Qin Wenhao saw his wife was awake and walked over to her.
"Why aren’t you sleeping in a little? Your shift doesn’t start until seven-thirty. It’s still early."
Fu Mingxue shot him an annoyed glance.
’So *now* he remembers I have to work today?’
’He certainly didn’t show any mercy last night.’
Seeing her expression, Qin Wenhao’s heart skipped a beat.
He felt completely different about her today than he had yesterday.
After last night, she had completely and utterly taken over his heart and mind.
He was so incredibly fond of her.
’So this is what being married feels like. It’s wonderful.’
No—it was better than anything he’d ever experienced.
"I asked Mom to make you some chicken soup to help you recover. Make sure you drink plenty later."
Fu Mingxue’s eyes widened when she heard this.
She was in disbelief.
She was shocked.
She gritted her teeth. "You went and told my mom to make something to ’help me recover’?"
’Doesn’t that mean my mom knows what happened last night?’
Qin Wenhao explained, "I was slaughtering a chicken when Mom happened to wake up and see me. I just told her you’d had a tough time and that I was killing a chicken to help you recover."
The crucial point was, he had just killed the laying hen that Mrs. Fu had traded for only yesterday.
Hearing this, Fu Mingxue flopped right back onto the bed.
Then she pulled the blanket over her head. ’AAAAGH! I might as well just die of embarrassment.’
’Why doesn’t he just go broadcast what we did last night over a loudspeaker?’
Seeing her hide herself completely, Qin Wenhao couldn’t suppress a smile.
His deep-set eyes were also filled with mirth.
’My wife is just so adorable—’
"Honey, you don’t have to be shy. We’re a married couple. Besides, we never had a proper wedding night. Isn’t it perfectly normal to make up for it last night? If nothing had happened, *that’s* when Mom would have started to worry."
Fu Mingxue couldn’t listen anymore. She threw off the covers, her face beet red, and snarled at him, "Shut up!"
’Just listen to the crap he’s spouting.’
Seeing how red her face was, Qin Wenhao didn’t dare provoke her any further.
’If I really make my wife mad, what if she refuses to sleep with me tonight?’
He had just gotten a taste of the good life last night; he had no desire to go back to sleeping alone.
"I’ll wait outside."
He walked out.
Only then did Fu Mingxue start to calm down.
She patted her burning cheeks with both hands, comforting herself: ’It’s no big deal.’
Once the heat in her face had subsided, she slowly got out of bed.
’Oh, right,’ she thought, remembering she’d broken her reading streak last night.
She hadn’t read her book last night, wasting two free hours.
Also, she hadn’t completed her daily tasks, which came with rewards—
’Great. Men are nothing but trouble. They just get in the way of me making money.’
---
"Son-in-law, we just arrived. A Mr. Yang delivered rice, flour, and a lot of other things. I hear Director Xie arranged it. You should pay Director Xie for it later."
"Mom, I know. I’ll make sure he gets paid." Qin Wenhao added, "Mom, you’ve worked hard these past few days."
"It was no trouble. Oh, and about the job you mentioned last time, don’t worry about arranging anything for me. I’ve decided to just stay home and look after the two kids. I’ll feel more at ease raising them myself."
Hearing this, Qin Wenhao understood his mother-in-law’s intentions.
He was very touched. "Thanks, Mom!"
"No need to be so formal. I adore those two kids, and besides, they’re very easy to take care of. You know, ’Grandma’ was the first word they said!"
Qin Wenhao thought that was wonderful. "They may be young, but they know who truly cares for them. It shows how much they like you!"
