That afternoon, Cecilia Sterling knocked on the door of the principal’s office.

This was her second time visiting the principal’s office.

This time, she was here about John Lawson’s situation.

Principal Warner was a law school graduate and had extensive connections in Lorcain’s legal circles. Besides, Cecilia had many professional questions she wanted to ask him.

"Cecilia, I’ve gotten the gist of the situation you described."

After listening to Cecilia’s brief explanation of the facts, Principal Warner nodded lightly and got straight to the point. "Regarding divorce, especially a contested one, you can’t have the other party stripped of all their assets, even if they are the one at fault. That only happens if the couple signed a prenuptial agreement, or if the other party voluntarily gives up their share of the assets during an uncontested divorce."

Cecilia nodded in understanding. "So, in other words, she’ll walk away with some of the assets, one way or another?"

"That’s right. However, since your friend has a rare disease and his wife betrayed their marital vows at such a time to file for divorce, the court will, at its discretion, award your friend a larger proportion of the assets based on the circumstances. So if you want to help your friend, you should focus on getting him as large a share of the assets as possible to secure his future and ease the financial pressure of raising his child."

"Thank you, Principal Warner. I see I was being naive before. But there’s one more thing I’d like to ask for your help with!"

Principal Warner smiled kindly and asked, "What do you need my help with?"

"I want to find the best divorce lawyer in the City of Lorcain. Since you’re a law professor, Principal, I’m sure you must know someone like that, right?" Cecilia asked bluntly.

Principal Warner’s response was just as forthcoming. "Not a problem. As it happens, I have a former student who’s an expert in this field. He’s been practicing for years and has an almost undefeated record in divorce cases. He’s quite a big name in the industry."

Cecilia’s eyes lit up. She watched as Principal Warner took out his phone, searched for a contact, and a moment later, placed a voice call.

When the call connected, the voice on the other end sounded pleasantly surprised. "Professor? What’s the occasion? I wasn’t expecting a call from you this afternoon."

"Yves, my boy, your old professor has a favor to ask!"

"Just say the word, Professor."

Principal Warner chuckled, then explained the matter Cecilia had brought to him. "So that’s the gist of it. What do you think? Can you help take on this case?"

"This case sounds straightforward. If there’s concrete evidence of the wife’s infidelity, she won’t get any leverage at all."

Principal Warner agreed. "Exactly. The goal is to secure as many rights and interests for the client as possible. He has a rare disease, and he’s adamant about getting custody of the child. So you’ll need to get a favorable ruling from the court—you know what I mean, right?"

"Don’t worry, Professor. How about this: give her my law firm’s address and have her come by when she’s free. We can discuss the specific details in person then."

"Excellent, excellent."

The two exchanged a few more pleasantries before Principal Warner hung up. He then found Lawyer Yves Quincy’s business card and handed it to Cecilia. "You heard him. Just go to this address to find him. He’s one of the partners at the firm."

Cecilia took it with a grateful expression. "Thank you, Principal Warner."

"Don’t mention it." Principal Warner smiled at Cecilia. "I still remember you donating that telescope to the school’s astronomy department. The fact that you knew to come to me for professional help shows that you’re a level-headed young woman. If you have any legal questions in the future, feel free to come to me. Don’t act rashly on your own, understand?"

His words were spoken with earnest sincerity, and Cecilia, deeply moved, nodded in assurance. "Okay, I’ll remember what you said."

「Two days later」

Estelle Goodman finally made some substantive progress.

Charlene Miller’s lover was a project manager at a building materials company. He, too, had just finalized his own divorce, not only securing most of the marital assets but also winning custody of his son.

Now, all he was waiting for was for Charlene Miller to finalize her own proceedings. The two of them had gotten together while they were both still married—truly a pair of rats from the same gutter.

Estelle Goodman tossed out a stack of photos and a folder.

The photos, of course, showed the two of them together as a couple, but they weren’t recent. They were screen captures from older surveillance videos.

"They’ve been very cautious lately and haven’t appeared together at all, so they haven’t given us any easy shots these past few days," Estelle said.

Cecilia was shocked. "You actually managed to find old surveillance footage of them together? That’s seriously impressive!"

Estelle Goodman snorted proudly. "What kind of paparazzi would I be without a few tricks up my sleeve? And in this folder, you’ll find hotel records from their trysts, transaction records, flirtatious chat logs, and their recent call history."

Seeing this, Blair asked, "Are chat logs admissible as evidence?"

Estelle shrugged nonchalantly. "Who cares? I said I’d dig up everything on him, and I’m a woman of my word. I hired five professionals, you know. How’s that for a five-pronged attack?"

Cecilia and Blair exchanged a look, then both gave her a sincere thumbs-up.

’I have to admit, Estelle really comes through when it counts!’

Cecilia didn’t bother sorting out what was useful and what wasn’t. She stuffed everything into a document bag. "I’m heading to the law firm right now. The sooner we get this settled, the sooner we can seize the initiative. She hasn’t served Director Lawson with a divorce petition yet, so we’ll strike first and make her the defendant!"

"We’ll go with you," Estelle and Blair said in unison.

And so, the three young women took the divorce materials to Yves Quincy’s law firm.

「Concord Law Firm」

In his office, Cecilia met Principal Warner’s star pupil. Yves Quincy looked very young, with the distinct air of a business elite.

He was impeccably dressed in a suit, his bearing confident and impressive.

To have become a partner at the firm before the age of thirty was a testament to his exceptional professional abilities.

However, Yves Quincy was momentarily baffled as he watched the three beautiful young women walk in. ’A divorce case... but why are three young girls here?’

’Isn’t this also about fighting for child custody? None of them look like they’re married, let alone mothers.’

"The client didn’t come?" Yves Quincy guessed, looking surprised.

Cecilia nodded. "I’m sorry, Lawyer Quincy. Our professor is still in the hospital. I have a letter of authorization, would you like to see it?"

Yves Quincy quickly waved his hand. "That won’t be necessary. Since it was a request from Professor Warner, I’m honor-bound to help. Let me see the relevant materials."

Though he said that, he was still amazed.

’Students finding a lawyer for their professor’s divorce case... That’s a new one.’
