Chapter 443 - 384: 3 Survivors
Lex Cross ordered Nolan Jennings, who was supporting Jade, to take her back to the villa area. Nolan rejoined the team a short while later.
Flora Bloom was baffled by the sudden turn of events. "Th-that’s my mom, isn’t it? But... just now, I felt like she was trying to kill me?"
"She wasn’t before, but she is now!"
Lex Cross’s brow furrowed deeply, his expression more serious than ever before.
The energy fluctuations from Jade just now, besides the Spatial Energy, also contained a kind of overflowing cosmic energy. Back when he, Five, and the others first arrived on Earth, their own energy would also overflow from time to time.
And the energy in Jade’s body just now was even more active than theirs had been back then.
’It seems this matter isn’t so simple.’
Five and Saul Sterling naturally sensed that things weren’t simple either. So they asked, "Boss, should we keep investigating?"
"Search! We have to find them!" Lex Cross’s face was grim; he had a bad feeling.
"Flora, do you trust me?"
Flora Bloom didn’t know why Lex Cross had suddenly asked her that.
"I do." It wasn’t a word that came easily.
"Go back and take care of your mother. Leave this to me!"
If it had been any other matter, Flora Bloom wouldn’t have cared whether she stayed or not. But this time, Joel Bloom was among the missing.
Her younger brother.
And Flora Bloom deeply valued her family.
"I..."
Flora Bloom hesitated.
Lex Cross lowered his head and rested his forehead against Flora Bloom’s.
"I promise I’ll bring Joel back. Will you leave first?"
Flora Bloom took a deep breath and chose to trust him. She didn’t ask either The Crown Prince or Leopard Cat to escort her. But she knew that the moment she turned around, The Crown Prince and Leopard Cat vanished as well.
Only when she arrived safely at the base would the two of them return to Lex Cross’s team to work for him.
Flora Bloom soon reached the base entrance. She turned and said to the empty air behind her, "I’m here now, I can get back to Villa Three on my own! You two should hurry back and help him!"
"Mm!"
A faint voice came from the air. The Crown Prince and Leopard Cat gradually faded into the distance.
After Flora Bloom left, a black energy expanded from Lex Cross, enveloping his entire thirteen-man special forces team, as well as Shawn Hale.
At that very moment, a soft, delicate laugh echoed from the void. This made Lex Cross’s brow furrow even tighter.
’She’s here, just as I expected.’
’But that’s fine too. This time, I’ll deal with her once and for all, and put an end to this problem for good.’
However, it wasn’t until they found a field of superpower users’ corpses, each one dead without a single mark on their body.
But among the corpses, the bodies of Joel Bloom, Sherman Lynch, and Rita were nowhere to be found, which made the fourteen people present all breathe a simultaneous sigh of relief.
So Lex Cross expanded the range of his black energy and continued the search, but they still found nothing.
The day wore on from morning to afternoon, then to night, yet Lex Cross and his group found no new clues.
Just then, a familiar voice suddenly came from the wild woods. Listening to the source, it was coming from the location of the golden parasol tree.
The fourteen of them rushed over to look, and who was it but Sherman Lynch, Joel Bloom, and Rita, who had been missing for the better part of the day?!
Of the three, only Joel Bloom was still standing and shouting energetically, while Sherman Lynch and Rita were unconscious on the ground, their faces pale.
"Brother-in-law! Brother-in-law! Quick, Sherman is injured, we need to get back and treat him!"
The group followed his gaze to Sherman Lynch’s arm, which was dripping blood. The wound wasn’t deep, but it had cut an artery. If the bleeding wasn’t stopped, even the most powerful superpower user would die after bleeding out.
Fortunately, the Villa Three area had basic medical supplies, and more importantly, they had Flora Bloom and her spiritual water, which had off-the-charts restorative abilities. As long as they got back quickly, Sherman Lynch would be fine.
After the people were found, Shawn Hale thanked Lex Cross and his men. He asked them to pass on his thanks to Flora Bloom, then carried Rita back to his own villa alone.
In this disappearance incident, Shawn Hale’s team had suffered the most. They were completely wiped out. All dead.
Not one of Sepherdine’s subordinates survived either.
When Flora Bloom learned of Jed Holden’s death, she felt it was a great pity. Although the man loved to come to her place to scrounge for meals, and would occasionally even take some to go, he had been a thoughtful, considerate, and charming gentleman.
When Jade woke up, she seemed to have no memory of the period she was missing. She’d forgotten the event entirely, as if she hadn’t left the Villa Three area all day.
When Sherman Lynch was brought back by the group, his face was so pale he looked lifeless. He only had a faint pulse and breathing so shallow it was almost imperceptible.
If it weren’t for a heaven-defying, cheat-like Divine Artifact like the spiritual water, it’s doubtful that even a god could have saved him.
