As space and time shifted, the eight contestants were about to be transported into the River of Time.

Countless bizarre scenes flashed before John’s eyes.

The Law of Time and Spatial Law intertwined endlessly throughout his vision.

Just then—

John suddenly sensed an overwhelming force of law erupt from nowhere.

It seemed to transcend everything.

To suppress everything.

This power did not feel like the power of the Will of the Universe.

It came from an utterly unfamiliar source.

Violent.

Overbearing.

Tyrannical.

John’s heart trembled slightly.

Could some supreme powerhouse be interfering?

At that moment, the furious voice of the Will of the Universe suddenly thundered through the void.

"You have gone too far!"

"You dare interfere during my Myriad Worlds Tournament?!"

The instant its voice fell, the power of the Will of the Universe erupted.

It collided head-on with that mysterious, tyrannical energy.

BOOM!

A deafening explosion echoed beside John’s ears.

But by then, he had already entered the River of Time.

Countless fragments of time flashed continuously across his vision.

Within those fragments were innumerable scenes from specific moments in history—

as countless as grains of sand along a shore.

John merely glanced at them unintentionally.

In the next instant...

an unimaginably vast amount of information poured into his mind like a raging tide.

A sharp pain immediately tore through his head.

The influx of information had instantly exceeded the limits of what his mind could process.

Even with John’s current cultivation...

he could not withstand the memory fragments drifting along the edge of the River of Time.

If he were to truly enter the River of Time itself, the amount of information flooding into him would probably be even more terrifying.

Perhaps only Sovereign-rank experts were truly capable of traveling freely through the River of Time...

moving between the past and future at will.

They could even intercept fragments from the River of Time.

As long as someone had left an imprint somewhere in the universe...

a Sovereign-level existence could use that fragment to revive them.

For a God King, however...

such a feat would still be far too difficult.

John did not dare look any longer.

He immediately closed his eyes.

Only then did he begin to feel better.

The pain in his head rapidly faded, and before long, he had completely recovered.

When John sensed the surrounding Space-Time Law gradually stabilize...

he knew that his journey through the River of Time had ended.

Only then did he open his eyes.

The instant he did...

a familiar voice filled with goodwill sounded beside his ear.

"John..."

John immediately recognized it.

"The Master of Sacred Mountain."

He silently responded,

"Master of Sacred Mountain."

"I contacted you because I sensed the space-time coordinates you were transported to."

The Master of Sacred Mountain chuckled.

"So I sent an avatar here."

John was slightly stunned.

The Master of Sacred Mountain had actually sensed his existence across space and time...

and immediately dispatched an avatar to this era.

So Sovereign-rank experts were capable of something like this.

John had only just arrived in this timeline, yet the Master of Sacred Mountain was already able to reach him.

As expected...

those experts who had already stepped onto the "shore" of the River of Time were on an entirely different level.

No wonder the Apocalypse Tribulation affected ordinary beings...

but could not truly threaten Sovereign-rank experts.

The only existences capable of killing Sovereigns...

were other Sovereigns.

Not some ordinary cosmic tribulation.

"Master of Sacred Mountain, why have you come?" John asked in confusion.

"To protect you."

The Master of Sacred Mountain answered directly.

"The Myriad Worlds Tournament influences countless universes and even different points in space-time."

"Even in this era, Sovereign-rank experts and God Kings know about the tournament."

"Some of them may already be watching you."

"The Velen Consortium is currently opposed to factions such as Evernight Palace, the Vikan Covenant, and the Selan Order."

"The better you perform, the more those hostile factions will want you dead."

"That is why I came."

The Master of Sacred Mountain continued,

"As long as I am here, Sovereigns from those hostile factions will not personally attack you."

"The Velen Consortium also exists in this era, which is enough to deter some God Kings."

"This should allow you to survive for longer."

"However..."

"If experts of your own level attack you—High Gods, or even supergod-level experts—then you will have to rely on yourself."

"There may even be some unruly God Kings who choose to attack you."

"I will not interfere in those cases either."

"I hope you understand."

John fell into thought.

So the Master of Sacred Mountain had followed him here specifically to protect him.

Not to help him complete the trial...

but to prevent some Sovereign from casually slapping him to death, or other major factions from breaking the rules too blatantly.

With the Master of Sacred Mountain here, John at least no longer needed to worry about Sovereign-rank experts personally attacking him.

However...

if anyone below that level deliberately targeted him, the Master of Sacred Mountain would not intervene.

John could understand that.

Sovereigns would not casually make a move in the first place.

Or rather...

the price of getting them to act personally was simply too high.

Moreover, the Master of Sacred Mountain had always been one of the few powerful experts who regarded John highly.

He understood John’s strength to some extent.

He probably believed that ordinary God Kings would be unable to do anything to John anyway.

So there was naturally no need for him to interfere.

After thinking it through, John said,

"That’s fine."

"Thank you for protecting me, Master of Sacred Mountain."

"I will repay this karma in the future."

"There’s also something I’d like to ask you."

"What is it?" the Master of Sacred Mountain replied.

"Are any of my companions in this same space-time?" John asked.

Sovereign-rank experts possessed extraordinary abilities.

Rather than searching blindly himself...

John figured it would be much easier to simply ask.

"No."

"You are the only one in this space-time."

John paused.

"Only me?"

"Do you mean only one of the four of us?"

"Or am I the only one among all eight contestants?"

"You are the only contestant in this space-time."

The Master of Sacred Mountain answered calmly.

"The other seven were transported to different space-time universes."

"..."

John’s lips twitched into a helpless smile after receiving confirmation.

Seriously?

What kind of luck was this?

The assignments were supposed to be random...

yet he had somehow been sent alone into an entire space-time.

All seven of the other contestants were somewhere else.

John quickly turned his attention to the most important issue.

He needed to determine the time and location.

Was this the future?

Or the past?

And what region of the universe was he currently in?

Which major faction controlled this place?

Rather than slowly investigating everything himself...

he might as well ask the Master of Sacred Mountain directly.

Thinking this, John asked,

"Master of Sacred Mountain, is this space-time in the past or the future?"

"And where exactly am I right now?"

John was genuinely confused.

He still had no idea what had happened...

or why he had suddenly appeared in this strange place.

The Master of Sacred Mountain did not show any impatience.

Instead, he carefully explained,

"The space-time you are currently in..."

"is the future."
