Rebuild World

84 The Nature of Uninvestigated Ruins

It was the day when Akira and Elena headed back to the previous ruins again.

Akira is waiting for Elena and the others at the wilderness rendezvous point, just like before. I plan on losing Alpha support when I join Elena and the others this time.

Alpha is wearing a battle suit with a zipper up and down the front. The fabric of the glossy material adheres to the skin and the lines of Alpha's attractive body are strongly represented. The zipper on the front of the tuna, which extends from the neck down, continues beneath the lower abdomen, to the tip of the groin and to the back. Alpha had the zipper open all the way over her lower abdomen. The skin exposed from that gap indicated that Alpha was wearing nothing underneath it.

If anyone could see what Alpha looks like, Alpha's beauty would go hand in hand to attract strong attention. Skin exposure has dropped significantly compared to the last alpha in swimsuit, but there is no significant difference in terms of seductive (frightening) appeal.

When Akira saw what that alpha looked like, she decided it was a relative outfit and decided to stop saying anything in particular. Akira was starting to get used to a lot of things too.

Elena and the others are coming on time. Alpha smiles and starts training.

"Well, good luck today."

"Oh."

'If I really miss you, don't be patient, can I call you?

Laughs as Alpha says so and invites a little. I get the look of Akira bending her navel slightly. Alpha disappeared from Akira's sight laughing joyfully.

Akira took a deep breath and put her expression back on before Elena and the others arrived.

Elena and the others put their car next to Akira's car. Akira laughs and talks to Elena and the others.

"Thank you for your patience today."

Elena laughs and answers, too. But the expression also feels a little cloudy.

"Be nice. I just wanted to ask you, does Akira's car have automatic piloting?

"Once attached"

"Can you set it up to follow us after our car?

"I can."

"Yes. Then why don't you set that up and get Akira in our car, too? I need to talk to you about something."

…… Okay. "

Akira got into the back seat of Elena and the others' car after setting up the autopilot, though a little strange. Having confirmed that Akira had boarded, Elena immediately drove to the site of her destination.

Sarah, sitting in the passenger seat, turns to Akira with her hands and chest on top of her back as she stands on her knees and flips her body. Sarah talks a little sorry.

"I'll apologize first. I'm sorry."

"Is something wrong?

"Last time I went with Akira, it was a ruin, but maybe the other hunters found out."

Akira was a little surprised. I thought I'd discover it sooner or later, but I didn't think I'd found out.

"... Really? But I don't think it's Sarah's fault, but do you have any idea?

Elena in the driver's seat answers.

"I don't. At least I took good care not to find out. Even if the sale of the artifact reveals that a new site has been found, there is no way you can tell where it is. I didn't feel like I was being followed in my exploration last time."

Akira laughs and answers softly.

"Then it's just a coincidence. I don't think it was Elena and the others. Or I must have snagged somewhere. When I went to the ruins on my own, you didn't fake a travel route or anything. Normally, you went home. I don't think I realized what I was doing."

Sure, it's a shame other hunters found out about that ruin, but it's just a matter of time anyway. It was a little early this time. That would be all we're talking about. That's what Akira thought.

After hearing Akira's reply, Elena and Sarah turn their expressions into something a little more serious. Elena talks like a squeamish.

"... you don't doubt us. You don't think we sold the information? Didn't I tell you before that the information in that hand sells high?

"I don't think so."

"What's the basis for that?

"Rationale......? Somehow."

Akira answered that normally after a few thoughts. And I joke and add why I appropriately came up with it.

"Besides, if Elena and the others are going to sell information about those ruins, why don't you come up with a better way to make a lot of information available for sale or something? Somehow."

Elena and Sarah, who had a slightly more serious look on their face, laughed lightly when they heard Akira's reply.

Elena laughs and talks jokingly.

"Right. I'd do better."

"Elena's going to do a lot of things, including disguising information. I don't care. You're selling away good information for a very high price.

Elena answers Sarah's joke with a laugh.

"Naturally. I'll make it as expensive as I can and sell it off."

Elena smiles and speaks to Akira in a quiet tone.

"Akira. Thank you for believing me. Honestly, I'm happy."

There are many factors that make Hunter break up the team. Disbelief in the other person would be one of them. Sometimes collecting artifacts in the ruins of the old world generates so much money that it is worth risking your life. There are many teams of hunters who are suspicious, suspicious, and whose large sums of money fuel it and dissolve it in a way that sticks guns at each other.

But Akira believed Elena and the others without question. Elena and the others were very happy with it.

Elena, who gets a little embarrassed, tries to change the subject forcefully.

"Yes! This story is a dance! Let's move on to the next story. Listen carefully."

"Okay."

"It's that ruin we're on our way to, but it could be pretty dangerous. So be very careful with Akira. I withdraw as soon as one of us decides it is better to withdraw for whatever reason, for whatever reason I have a bad feeling or for whatever reason. I'd like to make that arrangement first, but could Akira do that too?

"I don't mind. Let's go safe. So, why did Elena and the others decide that the ruins were dangerous?

Last time or last time, it was a ruin that no monsters appeared at all. Akira didn't know why Elena and the others were so dangerous.

Elena answers Akira's question.

"When a certain number of hunters find out about the existence of a new site, buying and selling information about the site becomes active. The location of the site, the internal structure of the site, the type and number of monsters that live there, the contents of the found artifacts, and all sorts of information will be bought and sold. So I did a lot of digging, but most of it is information about the site, and there's very little other information."

"If you find out it's a ruin with plenty of high-priced artifacts left, don't you just shut up because there will be more competitor hunters?

"Of course it's possible. But there's another possibility. I mean, there could be no survivors from inside the ruins, no hunters to bring back information. Only hunters who waited for their people to return outside the ruins returned alive from the ruins. So only the site of the ruins is bought and sold. That's the possibility. And in order to prepare and attack the ruins, someone might be spreading the site intentionally to get inside information about the ruins."

Akira snorted with a serious look.

"... ok. Be very careful."

I was able to complete the site search without difficulty last time and last time, so this time it will be fine. The margin that had been created by unconsciously thinking so was completely erased from Akira.

Until his arrival at the ruins, Akira kept wondering whether to call Alpha, but decided not to call him after being lost. It's not like Cheryl and the others were together. Most importantly, there's Elena and Sarah. They are also to withdraw as soon as they feel in danger. Akira decided to try it herself as best she could.

Akira and the others head straight to the ruins without a roundabout like last time. When plugged into a rubble area with ruins, you can see a different sight than last time.

Corpse of a biological monster defeated by countless bullets. Wreckage of a mechanical monster destroyed by a strong impact. And part of the hunter's equipment wreckage and body. It's a trail of hunter-monster engagement.

Akira squeaks (crushing) as she sees the sights around her.

"That's a lot."

Traces of debris or explosions. Human or biological monster blood trail. Remnants of mechanical monsters or hunters' vehicles, etc. They are scattered all over the area. A significant number of hunters can be seen engaging a sizeable herd of monsters.

Talk while Sarah sees the same sight.

"I wonder where this amount of monsters has sprung up from, as hunters have gathered here to explore that ruin. It's also possible that Hunter came out of the ruins. Elena, how's the perimeter reacting?

Elena double-checks and answers the reaction of the information-gathering equipment.

"It's okay. There are no monster-like reactions around here. Maybe they knocked it all down as this monster sprang from inside the ruins."

Seeing the sights around Akira getting stronger as she approached the entrance and exit of the ruins, she says, making her expression look a little harsh.

"... If this amount of monsters lived behind the ruins, it might have been nice for Ning to find out where this ruin is. If you think they've done a power reconnaissance behind the ruins, it could be a cheap price."

Elena agrees with Akira.

"It could really be. The scary thing about the uninvestigated ruins is that there may be tons of artifacts, but there may also be tons of monsters, and there is no information available to determine them. This really sounds like a good idea to decide that the lack of inside information on this site is due to the low number of survivors in the first place. Were we simply lucky last time? Or how big a mistake the hunter who went to the back of the ruins first made. Akira, honestly, we're going back now."

"... I'll leave that decision to Elena and the others. At least, I'm not ready to withdraw on this occasion yet."

I can't feel my chronic heart from Akira's reply. It was the language of a hunter who carefully proceeded with his steps after precisely recognizing the danger. When I heard Akira's reply, Elena smiled and spoke.

"Okay. Let's go."

Sarah also talks to Akira somewhere fun.

"I'm looking forward to Akira's work. But you can't do that, can you?

Akira and the others arrive at the entrance and exit of the site, in front of the stairs leading to the basement. The rubble around the stairs was spreading like it was being pushed by something huge. The trace of something moving continued from the back of the stairs to the end of the wilderness. Looks like there was something inside the ruins after all.

Akira removes and equips the CWH objective assault gun and DVTS minigun from her car. Take it securely, including spare ammunition and what you packed in your rucksack.

Akira has not given much thought to the leeway to carry the artifacts found inside the ruins. I'm going to dump some ammunition if I don't have enough free time to carry the artifact if I find a good one. It would be better to have enough to throw away than not enough remnants.

Akira's fortified clothing handled the weight of the equipment and ammunition without any problems. Consumption of energy will be quite intense, but it will hold enough for about a day today.

Both Sarah and Elena take various pieces of equipment out of their cars and wear them. Looks like we're well prepared to dive into the ruins we both decided were more dangerous.

Elena asks Akira.

"Akira, are you ready?

"Yes, I'm fine"

"Good. Then let's go"

Elena smiles satisfactorily and sets her gun against the back of the stairs. When Elena pulls the trigger, something fires from the gun barrel and disappears behind the stairs. Elena and Sarah then head down the stairs. Akira followed.

Ask Elena as Akira steps down the stairs.

"Mr. Elena. What was that thing earlier?

"Is that it? It's a small information-gathering device. Gather information more accurately around the landing site, or foe a remote location."

"Heh. Is that what you have?"

"That's the type of launcher we launch, but there are so many other kinds of things. Some drones travel remotely, autopilot the ruins' floors, fly through the air, and look inside the ruins."

"Sounds convenient. How much is it?

"It's basically a fairly high-value substitute. Some drones cost a million aurums a plane. It's fine if you use that to investigate the ruins and come back properly, but sometimes the monsters destroy you, or you lose communication with the drones and make you unmanageable. Sometimes returning drones bring monsters. Depending on the location, there's even a monster that detects a remotely operated drone and hits the pilot accurately."

"How many did Elena use earlier?

"That's 10,000 aurums a piece. It's a bit tightly priced to make it disposable, so collect it if you can afford it.... the last time you didn't use it, well, you know, if it broke, you wouldn't want to have it. You don't have to use it. This time, you see, it seems dangerous, so let's check it out a little bit, that's what I'm saying."

Elena explained it to be a little misdemonized. It's all about improving cost-effectiveness. Even if you give money to detect danger, you fall for it if you get a deficit. It doesn't make any more sense than diving into the ruins of the old world at risk for your life.

That's all you have to put your life on the line to make exploring the ruins cheap. It's a world of intellect. Akira somehow thought so.

On the stairs where Akira and the others are descending, there are signs of something huge, heavy, passing towards the ground. Still, the stairs are not significantly missing and there is no inconvenience for Akira and the others to descend the stairs. The height of technology in the old world can be seen.

Akira and the others down the stairs went out into the aisle they had already passed. But the passage was different from before.

The aisle was very bright. Unlike the last time we proceeded while illuminating a bright dark passage without a light source, the passage is illuminated with sufficient light. From the shadows beneath Akira and the others, it can be seen that the light is pouring from above. But I don't see anything like lighting on the ceiling.

Talk as Elena looks around.

"This ruin, you still had the function alive. I wonder if the hunter who made it to the back of the ruins has somehow activated the site's equipment."

The passage is illuminated with sufficient light to allow for a solid view to the back of the passage, which was previously not well visible. The passage was full of bullet marks, explosive traces and blood marks, telling the story of the intensity of the battle.

Akira talks as she looks behind the aisle.

"You have a trail of battle here, too. There are also signs of something big going through the stairs.... What's with no bodies or wreckage of defeated monsters?

Fighting will be a few days old, even late, lately. Based on the amount of blood trail, a significant number of biological monsters should have been defeated. Since there were also remains of mechanical monsters on the ground, there must have been mechanical monsters as well. I didn't think Akira got out on the ground without all of that being knocked down here.

Sarah guesses for herself the answer to Akira's question.

"... I wonder why. The functionality of the ruins has been restored, and the cleaning machines provided have been cleaned?

Among the ruins of the Old World are ruins that have remained very beautiful, even though many years have passed since they were deserted. Such sites are often still in operation with cleaning machines and restorations.

Be careful with such ruins. Traces of monsters are cleaned and their presence is sometimes difficult to grasp. In addition, guards sometimes operate while maintaining quality, and can be attacked as trespassers.

"There doesn't seem to be any monsters, let's proceed with caution"

By Elena's decree, Akira and the others carefully proceeded to the back of the aisle.

We reach the hall where Akira and the others used to collect artifacts. So far I haven't even encountered a monster. Though there are traces of battle everywhere, there are no bodies or even wreckages of the beings who carried it out.

There are two passages for Akira and the others to follow. From Akira and the others, there were traces of something huge passing through the aisle to the right. The wreckage of a ticket-like device represented some force that passed there.

Elena asks Sarah and Akira.

"Which way are we going?

"Left."

"Let's Left"

Sarah and Akira answered without straying. The three wills were firmly united.

Akira and the others take the left aisle. Beyond that there was a stretch of underground.

There are quite a few shops in the basement. But the bulk of the store is semi-destructed in the aftermath of intense fighting.

And the most distinct thing from the sight so far is that the performers of that battle remain. The bodies of biological monsters, mechanical monsters, and hunters were rolling everywhere.

Elena makes her expression look bad. But that is not because I saw those who fell in heavy combat. Nor because he spared a large number of artifacts that would have been destroyed in the aftermath of the battle.

Elena tells Akira and Sarah.

"Akira, Sarah, are you ready? Coming."

Depending on Elena's voice, Akira and Sarah stand in front of Elena and put up their guns. Akira had already unloaded her rucksack and had her spare ammunition on the floor. Sarah also keeps the ammunition she was carrying around, just like Akira.

In addition to the information obtained from Akira's information-gathering equipment, Akira's goggles also display additional information obtained from Elena's information-gathering equipment. There was a solid display of the reactions of countless monsters.

The motion of the reaction shows that the monsters are sure to recognize the presence of Akira and the others. The response continues to increase from afar. The monsters in this compartment survived well. He was only temporarily interrupting the fight because he had finished destroying the hunters, the enemy.

Akira and Sarah pull the trigger almost simultaneously. With the sounding gunfire, the battle began again.

From behind the underground and in the semi-destructed shops, various monsters attack Akira and the others with roaring and start-up sounds. There is no uniformity in the type of monster. Carnivorous plants remembering the means of movement are moving their thick roots instead of their feet. Cyborgs of dogs whose biological parts are rotten are running on the floor while exposing mechanical parts. A legged missile pod is spreading small missiles without worrying about a false explosion or anything.

Against a monster who moves and packs his distance while hiding in a shield, Akira shoots a DVTS minigun and crushes every thin shield, attacking the monster that moves between thick shields as if it were running away from the perimeter. Large quantities of bullets blowing like storms continue to grind without distinguishing between monsters or rubble.

For monsters who shoot and shell from a distance, repeat the sniping with a CWH objective assault gun relying on the position of the monster displayed on the information-gathering device while hiding themselves with a sturdy shield. Powerful bullets blow up walls, debris, etc. to a point where they are a little stiff, dispersing the bodies of the monsters ahead.

Elena, while participating in the attack herself, fires small intelligence-gathering equipment toward the back of the underground and elsewhere, enhancing her ability to defy the enemy. Send the position and rays of monsters with ranged attack capability, and the positions of monsters approaching Akira and Sarah to support the safety and attack of the two.

Sarah will efficiently crush the monster based on Elena's information. A projectile that fires a monster hidden in a shield from an A4WM automatic projectile gun, which jumps over the rubble and blows one after the other from the monster's head, from a rubble hole, etc.

Sarah repeatedly shoots without even looking at the monster, believing Elena's information, precisely crushing steeples such as her head, destroying the turret of a mechanical monster and causing detonation.

The battle goes on with Akira and the others remaining superior. But Elena and Sarah have some harsh look on their face.

Ask Elena, who Sarah would have the most accurate idea of the situation.

"Elena, we're fighting now. It's hard..."

"There's a mix of monsters living behind the ruins of Kuzhara Street."

"... it was a mistake."

The dangers of Sarah's expression grew stronger.

Behind the ruins of Kuzsuhara Street lies a monster so powerful that it is necessary to build a front-line base there. Elena and the others, at the request of Frontline Base Construction Assistance, were undertaking the repelling of monsters gushing out of the back of the ruins. There were times when Elena and the others attacked so many big men that they couldn't handle it. At that time, there were other hunters who were guarding together and the support of the tanks deployed, which could be dealt with without problems.

If such a big man is mixed up with his enemies, Akira and the others will be in a very tough situation.

Elena supplements.

"As far as I can tell, the mixed monsters are just the relatively weak ones behind the ruins of Kuzhara Street. Still, there are a lot of unnatural monsters in a place like this."

Sarah asks Akira out loud.

"Akira, you're okay!?

"It's okay!

"Yes! It's a little tough. There's a mixture of monsters! You should fight as much as you want, without worrying about the cost of ammo!

"Okay!

Akira answered forcefully. I can't feel any rush or fright from Akira's voice.

Sarah and Elena laugh lightly when they hear Akira's reply. Determine that Akira will not be left behind in this battle, and turn the monster's consciousness to help Akira in the unlikely event. It drastically reduced the time for Elena and the others to destroy the monsters.

Akira doesn't have to be told by Sarah, she fights without worrying about the cost of ammunition or anything. But you have to worry about the remnants. Replace the empty magazine by poking a gap in the monster's attack. And return to attack quickly before the monster can pack his distance. If you use ammunition, it's gone. Continue to pull the trigger while trying to fight as efficiently as possible.

Akira has thrown the emptied magazine away so as not to make a mistake, but the empty magazine at that location was already heavily packed.

With no Alpha support, Akira's shooting arm is a little higher than average. Not enough to efficiently destroy the monsters in battle. Akira makes up for it with the number of bullets. As a result, the ammunition consumption is considerably higher than usual.

(... I still have spare ammunition left in my rucksack. Let's call Alpha when we have to use that. Unless this is where you can't get Alpha support. … should I speak to Alpha right now to confirm it?

Akira is slightly troubled. But Akira concludes immediately.

(No, you can't. That's relaxation. The relaxation in this situation is deadly. Besides, if you can't seem to handle the situation on your own to this extent, that in itself will one day become deadly. To be stronger, we fight like this now!

Akira continued the fight with more concentration.

Akira is trying to be stronger. Akira goes without saying that her efforts to become stronger and the danger of becoming stronger. The source of that thirst was originally Akira's willingness to rise. But even though something else was getting mixed up, Akira hadn't noticed.

The battle continues. The sound of gunfire echoing inside the ruins calls the monsters behind the ruins, causing the echoing gunfire to continue. That goes on forever until those who pull the trigger are gone.

And finally, there is no one to pull the trigger.

The last time I pulled the trigger was Akira. The last bullet fired blows the head of the last monster. The battle ended gradually when the monsters around the subway were annihilated and no longer targeted.

The silence returns to the underground. Akira is looking around without breaking her guard.

The silence continues even after five seconds. After another ten seconds, Elena relaxes and laughs.

"No response. No additional enemy shadows. It's all right now."

Elena and the others slowly lifted their guard. Akira exhaled heavily.

The spare ammunition Akira had left on the floor was marginal. Akira survived this fight without Alpha's support. Akira laughed lightly after gaining just a little confidence.

Sarah laughs and talks closer to Akira.

"Sounds like a lot of room. Don't do it. The one in the back of Kuzsuhara Street ruins was mixed up, so it's usually supposed to be pretty tough being a hunter with no experience with security around there, huh?

"Because I didn't care about the cost of ammunition. I can't afford it if that's what you mean. It's a huge deficit if it stays this way. Sarah and the others say it's a little tough. I spent a little bit of ammunition defeating monsters. Is that the one behind the ruins of Kuzsuhara Street?

"That's right. But behind the ruins of Kuzsuhara Street, it's a trinket. The big guys are the ones who use tanks and stuff to take them down, so I don't think they're in boulders here. Even if I were there, I shouldn't be able to get caught in the aisle and move because I'm a pretty big monster. I don't think we'll ever engage here."

Elena laughs and talks with a little fun.

"Well, so far the deficit is with us. Do you want to gather artifacts from around here to eliminate that deficit"

Elena looks around again. The underground is half-destructed. Because both hunters and monsters engaged without any concern whatsoever about the artifacts here. The basement itself is sometimes a building of the old world, but it is not always sturdy to the goods of the shops there.

"... if there are any serious artifacts left, though."

Elena laughed bitterly when she said so.
