Chapter 179: Spending Needed
Kalli soon realized that she had another problem.
The mages and others were starting to come to her to redeem quests, so they would have points for skills and supplies that they needed. But she was already warned that she was approaching the point cap, and she hadn’t spent nearly enough on the city so far.
She could put up a few hasty buildings to burn through points. But Kalli thought that it might be better to go a bit wild and create some high-tech weaponry to help them through the waves.
There were multiple options, but most of the cool vehicles didn’t have anyone who knew how to operate them, and there were already plenty of heavy weapons along the walls. Any more and they would have to start handing them to people who didn’t specialize in them, and that would be a whole new type of mess.
The System didn’t like it when you used weapons that weren’t designed for your Class, and it would hinder the heroes if they tried.
But the level 0 members weren’t heroes and didn’t get the bonus damage from the majority of weapons.
It was Reggie who saved her from the dilemma, when he came in with his armour in tatters.
"Seriously? That suit was repaired just yesterday," she teased the warrior as he staggered in.
"Don’t you start. Yara is already riding my ass for failing to block enough. What do you have that I can put on credit?"
Kalli thought about it, then decided to go all out.
{Heavy Basic Power Armour} 300 armour, ignores damage under 5 points. Increases strength of the wearer by 50 points. Unusable by magic wielding classes.

"This is basic? In what way is this basic?" Reggie gasped as he swapped into the new heavy plate armour that made him feel like some sort of cyborg super soldier.
"The full version is five times that price with many more features and air conditioning. Trust me, this is the basic version. It should also reduce enemy damage by enough that you will stop breaking your armour halfway through the fight.
Send the other tanks in here to get a set, it’s too heavy to have the runners carry it."
Reggie frowned. "I don’t think that we can spare them from the line, but I’ll try."
Kalli shook her head. "Never mind, I will buy a truck and have the new suits sent to the line. I should have given the runners one long ago."
How that had slipped her mind, she did not know.
But an electric pickup loaded with armour in the back, and ammo crates inside the cab, burned through fifty thousand points in a hurry. However, it would save a huge amount of time, as the runners could bring them straight to the heroes who were tanking the worst of the damage for the groups.
It would also make the deliveries much faster, once they had a couple more trucks full of ammunition and supplies on the rotation.
The others were definitely going to be jealous of the power armour. But it was stupidly expensive, even by Kalli’s standards, and you couldn’t use magic while you wore it, so it would only be certain warrior skills that could function in it.
Even Temple would have to pass because he was a Paladin, and it would not let him use healing magic while wearing it.
She still had too many points, though.
Kalli searched through her options, and then found something that would definitely help the city, while also burning through some points.

The actual storage was not large, but that was not the point. The Capacitor would spread the power surge from the weapons out over a few seconds, which would cut down on the spikes as the {Air Defence Batteries} fired.
With that in place, they wouldn’t have to worry about the city going dark as the battle sustained maximum intensity, only about the damage that the city was likely taking.
With that purchase in mind, she went to the power plant, which was now covered by a greenhouse, and placed the purchase directly on top of the power plant’s upper housing. The System merged the two items for her, saving the need for an actual electrician and more complex wiring than they were capable of producing.
And in her office, the power meter went from 500 megawatt total usage spikes when all the hard-wired weapons fired at once, to a steady 200 megawatt draw that sometimes dipped a bit lower, when the air defence turrets were having a hard time targeting.
That gave her a bit more breathing room, but she was going to have to put up a building soon, or she was going to hit the points cap again when the influx of quest turn ins came again.
The air defence turret teams certainly had multiple rewards stacked up by now, as there were so many flying monsters. But the rest of the force couldn’t be far behind, especially the teams on the Pulse Cannons.
Whatever. She would have to work it all out once the team assigned to city planning was available.
Until then, she’d likely just make a mess of it.
But if she did get the warning that she had capped out her points, she would definitely start handing out presents to burn through them, and they would have to get it done before the major turn in at the end of the morning assault was finished.
That many Epic Grade Quests was simply too much for her points balance to handle.
Out of pure curiosity, Kalli purchased an {Assault Speeder} the small hovercraft with the Pulse Cannon mount on the back. Though, technically, it was just a hard point that could be used with many different heavy weapons, but that one was her favourite.
The vehicle hovered by the door, with familiar controls. The same motorcycle style handlebars as her old moped, but with an extra axis. Push in to lower, pull back to raise. Easy.
Kalli added a weapon to the back of it and put it in her inventory for later. They might not catch on as a standard issue combat vehicle, they were too expensive for that.
But there was definitely someone who was going to love it once they saw it.
