The Moon-Crest Central Police Station feels colder than Nyra expects the next morning.

Mr. Adams leads the group; Nyra, Adrian, Julian, and Jason, through a set of security doors, flashing his identification to the officer on duty before motioning for them to follow.

"The suspect has refused legal representation so far," Jason’s father says in a professional voice. "He also refuses to answer every question we’ve asked."

He leads them to a stop outside an interrogation room.

Through the thick observation glass, the Silverfang captain: young, with dark hair, blue eyes, and pale skin, sits with both wrists cuffed to the steel table.

His clothes are stained, most likely from the arrest, yet he doesn’t look one bit remorseful.

If anything... he looks amused.

One detective slides a folder onto the table. "Ronan Voss, if you tell us how you got your hands on them, we might consider giving you a lighter sentence."

Ronan, Nyra notes. So that’s his name.

The guy not more than twenty-two, leans back in his chair with the faintest smirk. He doesn’t respond to anything they say.

Another detective exhales in frustration. "You’ve been sitting here for two hours."

Still nothing. He doesn’t utter a single word.

Mr. Adams sighs. "As you can see..." he mutters to the group, "...he isn’t cooperating. The drug we found in her system after the toxicology exam was GHB in a high concentration. Even one more dose could’ve caused amnesia, or even death."

Nyra closes her eyes with a tired sigh. She can never express how grateful she is to her friends for saving her that night. Despite their differences, they all came together to protect her.

It makes her heart tug every time she thinks about it.

"...We need to find out where exactly he got such a high dose, so we can book him for assault and drug trafficking," Mr. Adams finishes.

Ronan finally lifts his head, looking bored. His gaze drifts lazily around the room for a beat before it lands on them.

For a moment, Nyra feels as though he’s looking at her directly through the glass. Adrian, beside her, grips her hand tighter, and this time she doesn’t pull away because it makes her feel safer.

"That’s enough," one detective snaps, signaling the officers. "Take him back to his holding cell until he’s ready to talk."

The officers unlock his cuffs before securing his wrists behind his back and leading him into the hallway.

The moment he steps outside, his eyes settle on Adrian. He recognizes him instantly and grins. Wide and unhinged.

"Well...long time no see."

He tilts his head. "Moon-Crest Captain. How are you preparing for the games?" He grins wider. "Lucky you..I won’t be there to whoop your ass in the games this year."

Adrian’s silver eyes darken in anger, though he doesn’t take to the bait and respond.

The captain chuckles under his breath at the reaction before his gaze slides down to Adrian’s hand still interlocked with Nyra’s.

His eyes travel up her body very slowly, and licks his lips.

"I almost got you," he muses. "Just a few more minutes and I would’ve seen that beautiful-"

Adrian moves before he can even finish his sentence. He grabs the front of Ronan’s shirt with both hands and slams him hard against the corridor wall.

"If you say one more word!" Adrian growls through clenched teeth, "I’ll finish what the arrest couldn’t."

"Future Alpha!" Mr. Adams shouts, trying to hold him back. But Adrian is far stronger than he looks.

Two policemen eventually have to join in, grabbing Adrian’s shoulders while another pulls the prisoner backward.

It takes three of them to pry Adrian away.

Ronan’s head is bleeding heavily from the impact, but he is still smiling like some lunatic.

"I can’t wait to see your face when you find out just how much trouble I can cause," he spits vaguely before the officers drag him away.

---

Adrian steps out of the station fuming to his bones. Julian and Nyra come out behind him, while Jason stays behind with his father.

He hasn’t said a word to Nyra since she was dragged away from him night.

Julian sighs, watching Adrian pace like a caged wolf. "You need to calm down. I know it’s upsetting, but you can’t just keep beating all the suspects up."

Nyra, still shaking from Ronan’s words, also nods. "I agree... I think he just wanted a reaction from you. You should’ve just ignored him."

Adrian isn’t listening.

"Did you hear what he said in there?! He said he was planning to make more trouble..." He runs a hand through his hair. "I swear to Goddess, if he even tries to touch her again, I’ll-"

His phone starts ringing in his hand. He groans when he sees the name.

Mom🌹

"For Goddess’ sake..." he mutters before answering. "Mom, I’m busy..."

Luna Selene’s panicked voice cuts in through the speaker. "Adrian! Thank Goddess you answered!"

His expression changes instantly, looming worried."...Mom?" Nyra and Julian instinctively look up too. "What’s wrong?"

"It’s Anna." Her breathing is uneven like she had been running. "She collapsed. We just rushed her to the E.R."

His heart stops. "What?"

"She fainted about twenty minutes ago." His mother sounds frantic. "We’re at Moon-Crest General Hospital. Private wing. They’re saying something’s wrong with the pregnancy."

Adrian is already pulling his car keys from his pocket, the color draining from his face.

"W-what? When?!"

"Just now. Please come quickly." The call ends before he can ask any more questions.

He turns to Nyra. "We need to leave now. Your sister collapsed. She’s in the hospital."

Nyra doesn’t need to be told twice. Even Julian runs up behind them looking worried, "What do you mean she collapsed?"

Adrian sounds very guilty. "I don’t know. Something’s wrong with the baby. You can come meet us there."

Julian nods and hurries toward his own car as Adrian ushers Nyra into the passenger seat. He unlocks the door for her first. She slides in without another word. Then he turns the key in the ignition and speeds onto the main highway.
