Chapter 585 - 285: A Bitch Is Just Hypocritical 2
Upon hearing this, Leona Grant picked up the file to look it over and let out a sneer of his own.
’Vivian Yates, you’re really something else. Lurking in the shadows all along, just as I thought.’
He’d been suspicious from the moment Annabelle Ainsworth first appeared.
’How could two people in this world look so alike?’
’And how could they keep running into each other by chance in all sorts of places?’
’If she really went abroad all those years because she liked me but was afraid of hurting her friendship with Annabelle Linton, then the first thing she should have done upon returning was look for Annabelle. But what did she do instead?’
’Instead, she avoided Annabelle Linton and just so happened to appear right when Annabelle and I were on the brink of divorce.’
’Such perfect timing to worm her way in... Could she have changed that much during her years abroad? Did she just happen to come back right when she heard Annabelle and I were getting a divorce, and then decided to make her move?’
No, Leona Grant’s sixth sense told him there was more to it than that.
That’s why he had sought out Annabelle Ainsworth to marry her when Annabelle Linton and Aaron Wyatt were about to get married.
Leona Grant’s dark eyes stared at the two files before him, his lips slowly pressing into a thin line.
’Vivian Yates has now become Annabelle Ainsworth... This is clearly different from what happened in the dream.’
’So, who’s the one pulling Vivian Yates’s strings? And what was my dream-self so afraid of?’
’It seems... I’ll just have to play along and take this one step at a time...’
Leona Grant wearily pinched the bridge of his nose. He hated being in such a reactive position.
He wasn’t afraid of what might happen to him or what he stood to lose. His only fear was that Annabelle Linton would get hurt.
When it came to her, he couldn’t afford to risk even a single hair on her head.
...
Time stopped for no one.
In the blink of an eye, Annabelle Linton had already been helping out at the sanatorium for two days.
In truth, the sanatorium was just a place that provided a relaxing environment for patients to recuperate after serious medical treatments, so it wasn’t supposed to be busy.
But what made it so busy was the fact that Quentin Holland’s sanatorium was connected to the hospital!
That was why it was so busy.
Quentin Holland had a considerable reputation, and that, combined with the facility’s large scale and government endorsements, drew in a great number of patients.
Appointments with specialists were booked up two months in advance!
Annabelle Linton hadn’t had a moment’s rest these past two days, but to be honest, it felt great.
This was her line of work, after all, and she liked the feeling of being constantly on the move. Though it was exhausting at times, the profession was truly meaningful.
Annabelle Linton and Quentin Holland had just finished their rounds. The two of them, dressed in white coats, walked out while discussing a patient’s report.
The weather was gradually growing cooler.
Under her coat, Annabelle Linton wore a black hoodie. Her hair was tied back in a loose ponytail, and black pencil pants accentuated her long, straight legs. Paired with a set of canvas sneakers, her entire look was both youthful and sharp.
"Quentin, look. Based on Ms. Chase’s HCG levels and her ultrasound, we can already see signs of an early-stage ectopic pregnancy. She’s currently presenting with the preliminary symptoms: amenorrhea, abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding, syncope and shock, nausea, and a drop in blood pressure."
"I believe we can diagnose it as an ectopic pregnancy. If so, things get complicated. She needs surgery immediately, but Ms. Chase is almost forty. She had a very difficult time conceiving, so her family is against the surgery. They’re afraid she won’t be able to get pregnant again if she loses this baby, and Ms. Chase herself also..."
"Well, well, who do we have here?"
Annabelle Linton was in the middle of discussing the report with Quentin Holland when a sharp, spiteful voice cut in out of nowhere.
Annabelle Linton looked up, and a face came into view.
A face that was both nauseating and insincere.
