When Vivian Yates heard this, fragments of memories suddenly flashed through her mind. Her pupils shrank, and she said guiltily, "What did I do? If anyone did anything, it was that bitch!"

"Bitch..."

Upon hearing this, a mocking smirk appeared on Chase Lynch’s lips. He said contemptuously, "Bitch? Why do I get the feeling you’re talking about yourself?"

"You—"

Chase Lynch stood up and menacingly closed the distance between them, step by step. "She’s living a glorious life, revered by all as Mrs. Grant, the Young Madam of the Grant Family. And what about you? You can only hide behind someone else’s face, living like a filthy sewer rat, terrified someone will discover your true identity. You call her a bitch, but have you done any less?"

"Seduction, plastic surgery, even deliberately studying every detail of the person you despise... all just to get Leona Grant to spare you a single glance. And what was the result?"

"He still abandoned you at the critical moment, didn’t he? Stop asking others ’why’ and start asking yourself what right you have. Jealousy accomplishes nothing. Understand?"

With a frustrated sweep of her arm, Vivian Yates sent the cups on the table crashing to the floor. "Don’t forget, we’re in this together!" she snarled. "If I go down, you’re not getting away clean! What do you think you’re doing, boosting their ego and crushing mine?!"

The mockery in Chase Lynch’s eyes intensified. "So telling a few home truths is ’crushing our own morale’ now, is it?"

"You!"

Chase Lynch strode over, his entire demeanor changing in an instant. He gripped her chin, his voice turning to ice. "I’m saying all this just to make you understand your place and your situation. Remember, you’re nothing more than a dog on my leash. My survival has nothing to do with you. Got it?"

Vivian Yates froze, stunned by the sheer malevolence in his eyes.

"Always remember your place, Vivian Yates. Crushing you would be easier than crushing an ant. You have no way out. I’d advise you to behave yourself. Otherwise, I’ll make you wish you were dead. Understand?"

Vivian Yates was too terrified to speak.

A vicious glint flashed in Chase Lynch’s eyes. He brutally grabbed a handful of her hair and snarled, "Do you understand?!"

Feeling as if her scalp was about to be ripped off, Vivian Yates nodded frantically. "Yes, yes, I understand!"

"Good."

Chase Lynch let go of her hair, gently tucking a stray lock behind her ear. He was smiling, but it didn’t reach his eyes. "You’ll be making your appearance in a few days. Give a good performance, hmm?"

Vivian Yates nodded hurriedly.

"Good girl."

Chase Lynch patted her on the shoulder and said meaningfully, "And it would be best if you could get pregnant with Leona Grant’s child as soon as possible."

...

The sun rose, marking the start of a new day.

Annabelle Linton took off her apron and walked into the bedroom.

She smiled resignedly at the sight of Leona Grant, who was still sound asleep.

’I’ve called him so many times, and he’s still sleeping.’

What Annabelle Linton didn’t know was that Leona Grant had taken several cold showers the previous night and had only fallen asleep in the wee hours of the morning.

As for the reason... well, he’d brought it on himself.

He’d kept sneaking kisses from Annabelle Linton but couldn’t bear to disturb her sleep. In the end, wasn’t he the one who had to suffer for it?

Annabelle Linton went to the side of the bed, knelt on the mattress, and shook him gently. "Leona Grant, time to get up," she said softly. "Breakfast is ready. You need to eat and get to work."

"Stop it..." Leona Grant mumbled without opening his eyes, his hand closing around hers.

Annabelle Linton chuckled and shook him again. "No more sleeping, get up... Ah!"

Before Annabelle Linton could finish speaking, he yanked her down, and she fell right on top of his chest, caught completely by surprise.

Leona Grant hugged her tightly, whining like a child, "I’m not going... I’m not going... I want to stay home with my wife..."
