Qian’s little red car was a gift from her brother on her engagement, and after all this time, it was about time to replace it. She quite values the driving experience and had long decided what to buy. Today, she dragged Yu Minglang along, hoping to take advantage of the car show events to pick up her new car.

Yu Minglang was already mentally prepared for this; he was just there to accompany his wife to get the car. Seeing there were test drives outside, he got tempted by a car he was interested in and took it for a drive, although he didn’t intend to buy it.

Over the years, as the family earned money, Qian would occasionally bring it up to him. At first, Yu Minglang helped manage the finances, but the past couple of years, as Qian started dabbling in futures with Shuixian and investing with Shi Tou, things went so well that Yu Minglang stopped managing altogether, relaxed in his role as a hands-off leader.

Half a month ago, Qian made a big trade, earning hundreds of thousands. When she mentioned wanting to get a new car, Yu Minglang didn’t object and accompanied his wife to the show.

Qian handed him the card, teasingly saying, "Go pay, let you experience what it’s like to spend extravagantly."

He pinched her nose and whispered in her ear, "Actually, I prefer the term ’sweating like rain’... with you!"

Qian’s mouth twitched; no matter how suave this guy tried to be, it was all surface-level. Deep down, he always had this cheeky and immature personality. She seriously doubted whether the stoic, no-nonsense person she previously dated was ever real.

While Yu Minglang went to handle the payment for Qian’s new car, she took the chance to pat the Range Rover he just test-drove.

"Does this one come in red?"

"Sorry, ma’am, we don’t have it in red."

"Then I’ll take black. When can I pick it up?"

The sales consultant’s eyes widened. Did he hear wrong? Hadn’t they already paid for the BMW?

"Who said we’re only buying one car?"

Qian gave a mischievous smile and pulled out another card from her bag, causing the sales consultant to beam with delight.

Although she wanted to surprise Xiaoqiang, some of the car-buying procedures required his presence. So, ten minutes later, Yu Minglang found out that while he was browsing around, his wife had swapped the car for him.

This joy came so suddenly, blooming like a flower at the slightest burst, to the extent that Xiaoqiang was elated as if he were dreaming on the way back.

"Honey, what made you think of getting me a new car?" This new car was even more expensive than the one she just bought, which made Xiaoqiang feel a bit anxious. He always felt that his wife, the great Buddha, should live more comfortably than him. No way to shake off the faithful dog persona; he was utterly delighted by her rare kindness.

"You’ve had that car for so long; it’s about time for a change too."

"But there’s no need for such an expensive one, it’s a bit extravagant."

Qian gave him a disdainful look, "Before you pretend to be modest, can you stop grinning and pull those ears back down from your mouth?"

Xiaoqiang was indeed overwhelmed with joy, thinking this trip was just to accompany his wife with little involvement. Who knew how impressive it would turn out, to casually test-drive and end up buying, he felt incredibly pampered being favored by the rich.

To the extent that on the way back, Xiaoqiang was humming a tune. What man doesn’t love cars? Especially since it was a surprise from his wife; the joy was overwhelming.

"Actually, my initial plan was to get you a red one, as payback for making me drive that little red car for years. Also, revenge for not letting me out if I don’t bundle up like a ball. Yu Minglang, don’t you think you’ve gone a bit overboard? It’s a mild winter, look around, who else is wearing such floor-length down jackets like I am?"

"What... color?!" Yu Minglang’s smile froze.

"You should be grateful this model doesn’t come in red, otherwise, I’d really want you to experience driving a red car for years. Honestly, if you ever make me dress like a bear again, I’ll paint your little wife red, mark my words!"

Yesterday, Qian had plans to go shopping with Shi Tou. Even standing right in front of her, Shi Touyu didn’t recognize her. With a bulky down jacket, a thick wool hat, and a big mask, Yu Minglang would insist she wrap up tightly every time he was home. He never used to be this way in previous winters, what’s gotten into him lately?

Under Qian’s threat of making him drive a red car otherwise, Yu Minglang finally confessed.

"Do you remember that Master Miejue from the research institute?"

"Who’s she? I don’t even remember, but you clearly do, huh?"

The final chuckles left Yu Minglang in a cold sweat.

"Honey, it’s so cold outside, why are you getting jealous? I meant to say that Master Miejue is sick."

"Oh, you even remember her while she’s sick, you must have seen her often, huh?"

Qian sarcastically sneered.

Ever since unleashing her wrath on that high-IQ villain from the institute, she hadn’t had any contact with that haughty beast for months. They only saw each other once in early winter.

That was when Mr Liu asked Qian to accompany her to an academic seminar. They caught a glimpse of each other from afar, but Qian never had any good impressions of women who dared to challenge and covet her man, maintaining strategic disdain towards her.

"What contact? You know how busy I am with work every day," said Yu Minglang helplessly.

His schedule was packed; he had to leave for work before daybreak and often worked late into the night. Whenever he tried getting cozy with his wife, she’d already be asleep, yet he’d go through all lengths to cuddle with his sleeping love... Anyway, by the time they were both snugly warm, she’d usually wake up.

Whenever he had a day off, he’d immediately accompany her to buy a car. Given his hectic schedule, how would he have time for unrelated people? His wife’s jealousy was boundless.

"You’re indeed busy with work, but who can say you aren’t sneaking breaks? Like calling Master Miejue, chatting or something. Otherwise, how could you know she was sick?" Even Qian felt her argument was unreasonable, but she couldn’t control her jealousy.

She’d been sick with a cold for two days, using up a pack of tissues each day with her runny nose. How could he not care about her, but have the mind to care for another woman?

"Honestly, if you weren’t so intoxicating, I’d suspect you climbed out from our mom’s pickle jar. Tsk tsk tsk, would die of sourness—— Hey, don’t pull my ear while I’m driving!"

"Stop being cheeky! Tell me, how did you know she was sick?" Qian was never one to pass up an opportunity to dig for the truth and get jealous.

"Apiao came up and told me proactively, saying Miejue got this strange illness, called panniculitis; seems it’s from the cold. Her face is all blotchy with purplish patches, and she’s in active treatment now."

"I know that illness, generally caused by cold, but it’s a mild winter, how did she catch it?" Qian was puzzled.

"Who knows, she didn’t say, but news from the institute mentioned she was wearing thin socks paired with boots and a mini skirt, exposing her legs even in winter, which led to the ailment. Honey, you have lots of winter long socks in your closet, don’t wear them, alright?"
