Chapter 278: Martial Artist Alliance

As an agent of the Security Pavilion, Ouyang Feifei had just watched Qin Tuo kill a man right before her eyes. Her heart was a turmoil of conflicting emotions, and she had no idea what to do.

But Qin Tuo just shook his head, a look of exasperation on his face as he said:

"Miss Ouyang, you’re blaming the wrong person. You’re the one who told me to kill him!"

Ouyang Feifei’s eyes went wide. She retorted angrily:

"Qin Tuo, you’re slandering me! When did I ever tell you to kill him?"

Qin Tuo chuckled and said:

"Didn’t you just say that my actions would be considered self-defense? And that it wouldn’t matter even if I killed him? I was just following your advice when I killed him, wasn’t I?"

Ouyang Feifei was struck speechless, unable to say a word for a long moment.

She was also discovering that she got angry easily whenever she was around Qin Tuo. She couldn’t beat him in a fight, and she couldn’t out-argue him either.

"Regardless, Qin Tuo, you killed that man. You’re in big trouble now. There’s no way the Security Pavilion will let you off the hook!"

Ouyang Feifei said, her brow furrowed.

Qin Tuo thought for a moment, then said pensively:

"Who cares? When you’re already covered in fleas, you don’t notice a few more bites, do you?"

Seeing Qin Tuo’s casual attitude, Ouyang Feifei was at a loss for words.

She mumbled to herself.

’I have no idea what that silly girl Manni sees in you. You’re just a complete brute...’

"Hm? Miss Ouyang, what was that you were mumbling?"

Qin Tuo asked curiously.

Ouyang Feifei waved her hands frantically.

"Nothing, nothing. You heard wrong."

Just then, Qin Tuo wanted to head back to the food street, but Ouyang Feifei, horrified, quickly grabbed him.

"Qin Tuo, are you insane? You just killed someone, and now you want to stroll back out in the open? Are you trying to make it easy for them to find you?"

Qin Tuo asked:

"So what should I do? Should I go with you and turn myself in?"

As an elite agent, Ouyang Feifei was normally very experienced in handling these kinds of situations.

But this was the first time in her life she’d ever encountered something like this, and for a moment, she was at a loss.

She knew, however, that they couldn’t stay at the scene. So she grabbed Qin Tuo and pulled him toward an old residential complex.

"Oh? Where are you taking me?"

Qin Tuo asked, confused.

Ouyang Feifei sighed and explained wearily:

"I have no choice. For now, I can only take you to my rented place to hide out and avoid any more trouble."

Ouyang Feifei knew that if Qin Tuo appeared in public, he would easily be found by the Liao Family’s men, and the consequences would be unthinkable.

Therefore, she felt that her own apartment was the only relatively safe place.

When they arrived, Qin Tuo saw that Ouyang Feifei was quite frugal. The apartment she rented was a rather plain and simple one.

The entire place was neat and tidy, filled with a faint, floral fragrance.

Qin Tuo sat on the sofa and couldn’t help but give a wry smile.

"Sigh, that guy really had the worst timing."

Ouyang Feifei, who was in the middle of making tea, asked casually.

"Oh? Why do you say that?"

Qin Tuo said with a straight face:

"Because I’m still not full!"

PFFT...

Ouyang Feifei nearly coughed up blood.

She was absolutely furious. Pointing at Qin Tuo, she scolded:

"Qin Tuo, are you some kind of pig? You just ate all that food, and you’re still saying you’re not full!"

’What is wrong with him?’ she thought. ’Of all the things to be worried about right now, he’s still thinking about food?’

’Just what kind of person is he? So unreliable!’

Qin Tuo clutched his stomach and said with a helpless look:

"Miss Ouyang, I told you, even a man on death row gets a last meal!"

Ouyang Feifei huffed:

"Fine! In that case, you wait here. I’ll make you something to eat!"

Qin Tuo looked pleasantly surprised. "I didn’t think Miss Ouyang knew how to cook."

Ouyang Feifei scoffed, then said proudly:

"Of course I can. I’ve been independent since I was a child. I learned how to do laundry and cook a long time ago."

Qin Tuo nodded. He figured Ouyang Feifei probably wasn’t like Chen Man Ni, who would nearly blow up the kitchen.

Sure enough, after a little while, the fragrant aroma of cooking wafted out from the kitchen.

Just from the smell alone, Qin Tuo could tell that Ouyang Feifei was a pretty good cook.

Soon, Ouyang Feifei had prepared three dishes and a soup, and she called Qin Tuo over to eat.

Qin Tuo tried a bit of every dish, nodding repeatedly in admiration.

"Mm, Miss Ouyang, I didn’t realize your cooking was this good. It’s almost at the level of a five-star hotel."

Ouyang Feifei burst out laughing.

"Well, Qin Tuo, I didn’t expect you to have such good taste!"

Ouyang Feifei took the most pride in her cooking, so being praised by Qin Tuo made her heart blossom with joy.

The way she looked at Qin Tuo suddenly became much friendlier.

"Oh, by the way, Qin Tuo, I didn’t realize your skills were that incredible!"

Ouyang Feifei suddenly recalled the earlier scene and couldn’t help but bring it up.

Qin Tuo grinned and said:

"Of course they are. If my skills weren’t any good, how would I have destroyed the Jiang Family? And if I didn’t have some power to back me up, I wouldn’t have dared to come with you to the Provincial City!"

Hearing that, Ouyang Feifei had to agree.

But then, her expression suddenly grew serious.

Qin Tuo asked:

"Oh? What’s on your mind? Just say it."

Ouyang Feifei put down her chopsticks and said gravely:

"Qin Tuo, listen to me. The Liao Family isn’t like the Jiang Family. You can’t just take them on because you feel like it. Their power is far more terrifying than you can imagine."

As an agent of the Security Pavilion, Ouyang Feifei’s work gave her insight into the hidden power that many of the great families held beneath the surface.

So she understood better than anyone just how formidable the Liao Family’s true power was.

Qin Tuo knew this, of course, but he just shook his head and said casually:

"I don’t see the difference. If I can destroy the Jiang Family, I can deal with the Liao Family. In my eyes, they’re all just people. All the same."

Seeing his attitude, Ouyang Feifei rolled her eyes in exasperation.

"I’m telling you, Qin Tuo, you’re being naive. Let me tell you one thing, and then you’ll understand."

Qin Tuo immediately put down his chopsticks as well, adopting a posture that said he was all ears.

Ouyang Feifei said in a low, serious voice:

"Let me tell you, the Liao Family is actually under the protection of the Provincial City’s Martial Artist Alliance. So you think you only have to deal with the Liao Family?"

Hearing this, Qin Tuo realized there was more to the story than he’d known.

He couldn’t help but ask curiously.

"Oh? Miss Ouyang, what’s the Provincial City’s Martial Artist Alliance?"

Ouyang Feifei paused, her eyes narrowing as she explained:

"The so-called Martial Artist Alliance is an organization of Martial Artists established by the four great families of the Provincial City. Their power is, you could say, absolutely terrifying—far beyond anything you can imagine!"
