Chapter 293: Ring Competition
Huang Zhen stepped forward with a smile plastered across his face.
"My friends, we are all members of the Martial Artist Alliance. There’s no need to take things to such a confrontational point, is there?"
Guan Zhengtian stroked his beard and chuckled.
"Indeed! As the saying goes, peace breeds prosperity. Is there anything we can’t sit down and discuss? Why must we resort to this level of animosity?"
Though their words sounded pleasant, both Qiangwei and Liao Feiying knew the two were nothing but a pair of old foxes.
The two fell silent, ceasing their bickering.
Huang Zhen continued.
"We need to find a solution to this. Why don’t I propose something, and you can see if you agree?"
Since he’d put it that way, both Qiangwei and Liao Feiying nodded, deciding to wait and see what he had in mind.
Huang Zhen said with a serious expression,
"How about this: the Jiang Family’s assets are no small matter. Let our four families compete for them with our own means. The most capable will take all. What do you say?"
Clearly, he had no intention of giving up the Jiang Family’s assets either. He had even been secretly scheming for them, so there was no way he would simply go along with Liao Feiying’s demands.
However, Liao Feiying’s eyes immediately shot wide open. He said icily,
"So you’re all ganging up on my Liao Family, is that it?"
Beside him, Guan Zhengtian quickly forced a laugh.
"Master Liao, what are you talking about? This is the only fair way to do things. Your earlier actions were far too tyrannical!"
The Huang Family and the Guan Family had clearly stated their position. They opposed Liao Feiying’s tyrannical behavior and chose to support Qiangwei, hoping for further negotiations.
Everyone from the Liao Family was seething with rage, but there was nothing they could do.
After all, the other three families had made their stances clear. It was now unrealistic for the Liao Family to think they could unilaterally strong-arm the entire Martial Artist Alliance.
A cold sneer played on Qiangwei’s lips as she watched. She was delighted to see the Liao Family get their comeuppance.
Liao Feiying was furious. He threw out a vicious threat.
"I don’t care who shows up today, it won’t make a difference! What I say goes. I’m not giving face to anyone!"
Seeing Liao Feiying’s unyielding attitude, everyone fell silent.
Everyone understood that pushing this further could lead to internal strife within the Martial Artist Alliance, and everyone present would inevitably be caught in the crossfire.
Seeing that they had reached a stalemate, Huang Zhen could only shake his head and sigh.
"Sigh... Since we can’t seem to reach an agreement, why don’t we just hold an arena match?"
"Oh? An arena match?"
The other three’s eyes widened as they fell into deep thought.
Huang Zhen nodded and continued,
"That’s right. We hold an arena match. Whoever wins gets to decide. Besides, this was one of the founding rules of our Martial Artist Alliance. What does everyone say?"
Hearing Huang Zhen’s suggestion, Qiangwei thought for a moment before becoming the first to nod in agreement.
"Fine. We’ll do as you say. We’ll settle this in the arena. The winner calls the shots, and the loser shuts up and takes it!"
Beside her, Guan Zhengtian had no objections either, nodding with a triumphant smile.
Clearly, he was supremely confident in his own abilities!
Liao Feiying was even less intimidated. He had the greatest reputation in the entire Provincial City’s martial arts circle and had no fear of competing in the arena.
So, Liao Feiying nodded and snorted.
"Fine. In that case, we’ll hold an arena match in the city center in three days. Anyone who has a problem with it can meet me in the arena!"
As he spoke, he shot a cold glare at Qiangwei. His words were clearly aimed at her.
In fact, settling this with an arena match was exactly what Liao Feiying had hoped for!
He was looking for just such a simple, violent method to expand his influence.
Qiangwei shook her head and gave a disdainful smile.
’How could I not see what that Liao Feiying is planning?’
But Qiangwei was also completely confident that she could win.
After all, she had already reached the Grandmaster Realm. And after receiving the pill from Qin Tuo, her power had advanced even further, allowing her to completely overwhelm an ordinary Grandmaster.
And so, the Martial Artist Alliance meeting had finally produced a resolution.
Afterward, the heads of the various families departed one by one, each with a gloomy expression.
Everyone knew that the Provincial City’s Martial Arts Realm would no longer be as peaceful as it once was.
「Two days later.」
Qin Tuo was still staying at Ouyang Feifei’s home and hadn’t gone out.
Ouyang Feifei returned home laden with bags of groceries and immediately got busy preparing to cook.
"Qin Tuo, are you hungry?"
Ouyang Feifei asked with concern.
Qin Tuo, who was watching TV, shook his head and smiled.
"Not really. Why, are you going to cook for me?"
Ouyang Feifei replied as she bustled around the kitchen,
"Of course. If I let a wanted man like you starve to death, wouldn’t that make me a great sinner?"
Qin Tuo replied casually,
"Don’t worry about it. If I do starve to death, I promise I won’t come back to haunt you!"
"Pfft..."
Hearing his tone, Ouyang Feifei couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Qin Tuo’s expression turned to one of slight surprise. He was just now noticing how pretty Ouyang Feifei was when she laughed; she had a certain womanly charm.
Before long, Ouyang Feifei had whipped up a table full of dishes and called Qin Tuo over to eat.
Qin Tuo was starting to feel hungry himself, and he ate the meal with great relish.
Ouyang Feifei’s cooking was as amazing as ever. Not a single dish was a miss.
"Qin Tuo, is my cooking really that good?"
Ouyang Feifei was starting to have her doubts. Qin Tuo was eating like a ravenous wolf that hadn’t seen food in days.
Qin Tuo nodded as he ate.
"Mhm, your cooking is pretty tasty."
’It’s all relative, of course,’ he thought to himself. ’At least Ouyang Feifei’s cooking is a thousand times better than Chen Man Ni’s.’
While they ate, Ouyang Feifei explained,
"Qin Tuo, I haven’t let you go out these last couple of days because I’m worried something might happen to you. The whole city is in an uproar; it’s not safe out there."
Qin Tuo nodded. He understood her reasoning, of course.
But he found it strange that the Liao Family hadn’t come looking for trouble in the past two days. It was as if they had forgotten he even existed.
"Let me tell you, Qin Tuo, just because the Liao Family hasn’t come for you yet doesn’t mean anything. They’re probably plotting something in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to strike!"
Ouyang Feifei warned him seriously.
Qin Tuo hadn’t let his guard down, of course, but he wasn’t the least bit afraid.
The two made small talk as they finished their meal.
Just then, a sudden KNOCK came from the door.
Qin Tuo was curious, thinking it might be Ouyang Lei again.
But when he opened the door, he was taken aback.
