Chapter 269: Exposed
A hint of joy flashed across Huo Jianqiang’s face!
He knew that Liao Feiying had likely considered the Security Pavilion’s influence and was thus forced to make a suitable compromise.
But when he heard the three-day time limit, Huo Jianqiang didn’t know whether to laugh or cry!
Three days was obviously nowhere near enough time.
After all, it was the Jiang Family that had been annihilated. The culprits were clearly terrifyingly powerful; how could the Security Pavilion possibly handle it in just three days?
Liao Feiying stressed once more.
"Listen up, Security Pavilion. If you haven’t found the murderer after these three days, our Liao Family will handle this matter with our own methods."
His tone was resolute, as if he wouldn’t back down an inch.
Huo Jianqiang, however, thought for a moment before bracing himself and saying:
"Master Liao, please understand. Three days is simply too short. I’m afraid we won’t even be able to identify any suspects in that time!"
Liao Feiying flew into a rage. Pointing a finger at Huo Jianqiang, he roared:
"That just proves how incompetent you all are! If that’s the case, you should just step aside and let our Liao Family handle it ourselves!"
As he spoke, his chest heaved, clearly seething with anger.
Huo Jianqiang, however, still tried to negotiate for more time.
"Master Liao, how about this? Give us ten days. If we haven’t made any progress after ten days, we’ll hand the case over to you. What do you say?"
As he said this, Huo Jianqiang sighed inwardly.
’Ten days... that’s definitely not enough time either!’ he thought.
But facing the furious Liao Feiying, he could only bow his head and offer a compromise.
"Useless! A bunch of useless trash! Once three days are up, my Liao Family will do as we please, regardless of anyone else!"
Liao Feiying completely lost control of his emotions and began to curse loudly.
Huo Jianqiang could only apologize helplessly.
"Master Liao, please rest assured. We will do everything in our power to find the murderer quickly and bring justice to the Jiang Family."
Nearby, however, Ouyang Feifei and all the other agents wore extremely grave expressions.
They knew that finding the murderer would be a nearly impossible task.
Just then, Liao Baicheng, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke.
"I can give you a lead to investigate. Whether or not you can catch the murderer, however, will depend on your own abilities!"
Upon hearing this, Huo Jianqiang’s eyes lit up, and he quickly asked in a respectful tone.
"Oh? Mr. Liao, what kind of lead is it?"
Liao Baicheng said slowly,
"This was most likely the work of a man named Qin Tuo. He’s from Ming City. That’s all I can tell you. You’ll have to investigate the rest on your own!"
Although the information Liao Baicheng provided was limited, to Huo Jianqiang, it was still an enormous help.
An intense look of confidence immediately appeared in Huo Jianqiang’s eyes, and he nodded firmly.
"Understood. Thank you, Mr. Liao. This lead is incredibly important. The Security Pavilion will definitely make the most of it!"
With that, he quickly gave a wave and led Ouyang Feifei and the other agents away.
After all, he didn’t want to stay there any longer. Facing Liao Feiying’s aura—so cold and powerful—was simply unbearable.
As the people from the Security Pavilion left, a look of deep contempt appeared in Liao Feiying’s eyes!
In his eyes, the people from the Security Pavilion were nothing but a useless pack of gluttons.
"Father, what should we do next?"
Liao Baicheng asked, his tone somber.
Liao Feiying said coldly,
"Send some of our people to keep a close watch. If any family dares to get any ideas at a time like this, immediately dispatch men to wipe them out. Just tell them I ordered it!"
Although Liao Feiying’s tone was level, his words held a terrifying killing intent that startled everyone who heard them.
Clearly, Liao Feiying intended to forcibly suppress all the families in the entire Provincial City, ensuring none of them dared to make a rash move!
Liao Baicheng was ecstatic and nodded firmly.
"Yes! Father, rest assured. With your protection, I will dare to do anything!"
Liao Baicheng was the type who wouldn’t be scared even if the sky were falling, and with his father Liao Feiying’s words, he now had no reservations whatsoever.
In the days to come, all the families in the Provincial City would inevitably be shrouded in a deep sense of dread.
Meanwhile, Huo Jianqiang led Ouyang Feifei away from the ruins of the Jiang Family Villa and let out a heavy sigh of relief.
God only knew how immense the pressure on him had been just now!
"Inspector, are we going to Ming City to investigate this Qin Tuo?"
Ouyang Feifei asked thoughtfully.
She had committed every single word Liao Baicheng had said to memory.
Furthermore, Ouyang Feifei’s expression was a little sullen; after all, being berated by the Liao Family had left a sour taste in her mouth.
Huo Jianqiang thought for a moment, then asked,
"By the way, Feifei, doesn’t Elder Mr. Ouyang live in Ming City now?"
As Ouyang Feifei’s direct superior, Huo Jianqiang naturally knew she was Ouyang Tianqi’s granddaughter.
Ouyang Feifei nodded.
"Yes, Inspector. My grandfather is indeed living in Ming City now."
Huo Jianqiang quickly said,
"In that case, could you speak with Mr. Ouyang and ask him to help us investigate? We’ll head over right after."
After a moment’s thought, Ouyang Feifei nodded in agreement.
Normally, she wouldn’t want to trouble her grandfather so easily.
But considering how thorny this case was, she knew everyone in the Security Pavilion had a duty to solve it as quickly as possible. She couldn’t afford to be so considerate now.
...
「Jin City Hotel, Private Room.」
Qin Tuo had fallen into a deep slumber. He slept like the dead, oblivious to the world outside, and no amount of noise could stir him.
There was nothing for it; Qin Tuo was simply exhausted.
So much had happened recently, draining a great deal of his energy. He needed a good, long sleep to recover.
Qin Tuo slept for a full day and night before finally waking up.
"Ah, that was refreshing..."
Qin Tuo stretched, feeling an inexhaustible strength flowing through his entire body.
As he stepped out of his room, he saw Long Wu walking toward him.
"Celestial King, you’re finally awake!"
Long Wu couldn’t help but remark. He had clearly tried knocking on the door while Qin Tuo was fast asleep.
Qin Tuo nodded and gestured for Long Wu to follow him inside.
Qin Tuo placed a hand on Long Wu’s body, carefully probing his internal condition.
After a moment, Qin Tuo silently nodded.
"Hmm, Long Wu, your injuries seem to be almost completely healed. There are just some minor internal wounds that haven’t been fully cleared up."
Long Wu said gratefully,
"Celestial King, it’s all thanks to you. Otherwise, I’m afraid I would have been crippled!"
