Chapter 334: Something Big Has Happened
Qin Tuo shook his head, smiling wryly.
’This feels incredibly awkward,’ he thought. But there was nothing he could do but accept.
"Alright then, Mr. Chen. Since you insist, I’ll brazenly accept. Thank you for your immense generosity."
Qin Tuo expressed his thanks sincerely.
But Chen Wenxiong just waved his hand dismissively.
"Qin Tuo, we’re going to be family sooner or later. Why are you thanking me?"
Beside them, Chen Man Ni shot Qin Tuo a look and made a funny face.
She looked like she was trying to take credit.
With this money in hand, Qin Tuo felt a great sense of relief. He knew he could now fulfill the contract with Medicine King Valley.
After chatting for a while, Chen Wenxiong suddenly remembered something and said quickly,
"Oh, right. Qin Tuo, there’s a banquet tonight. Are you going to attend?"
Qin Tuo asked,
"Oh? A banquet? What kind of banquet?"
Chen Wenxiong continued to explain,
"Here’s the thing, Qin Tuo. Elder Mr. Ouyang heard you were back and is holding a banquet specifically for you. Almost all the big shots from every circle in Ming City will be there. You should go if you’re free."
Chen Wenxiong knew that with Qin Tuo’s current status, nearly everyone in Ming City would want to curry favor with him.
But he felt Qin Tuo should still attend, just to show up out of respect.
After all, it’s easy to meet King Yama, but his minions are the real trouble. Offending so many people at once could lead to someone holding a grudge and pulling dirty tricks in secret.
Qin Tuo thought for a moment before reluctantly nodding in agreement.
"Alright, I’ll be there tonight on time."
He hated these kinds of social obligations, but he had to agree out of respect for Ouyang Tianqi.
After all, Ouyang Tianqi had helped him in the past.
There was still some time before evening. However, having driven back from the Provincial City, Qin Tuo and Chen Man Ni were both a bit tired and wanted to rest.
Seeing this, Chen Wenxiong quickly said,
"Right, you two should just stay here. I had the staff prepare a few rooms that have been empty for a while."
Chen Man Ni was tempted. She hadn’t been home in so long and wanted to spend some quality time with Chen Wenxiong.
However, she glanced at Qin Tuo, waiting for his response.
Qin Tuo said helplessly,
"That’s alright, Uncle. I should head back to Half Moon Bay for now. I’ll come by next time."
Qin Tuo felt the Spiritual Qi at Half Moon Bay was more abundant and better for cultivation, which was why he wanted to go back.
Since Qin Tuo had made up his mind, Chen Wenxiong couldn’t insist.
Chen Man Ni also smiled and said,
"Dad, in that case, I’ll go back to Half Moon Bay with Qin Tuo."
Chen Wenxiong nodded cheerfully, a satisfied look on his face.
As long as he could see Qin Tuo and Chen Man Ni’s relationship was stable, he was happier than anything.
But before they left, Chen Wenxiong quietly pulled Chen Man Ni aside.
"Dad, is there something else?"
Chen Man Ni asked with a questioning look.
Chen Wenxiong lowered his voice and said with a smile,
"My dear daughter, your old dad is planning to retire. I’ll have a lot of free time on my hands at home then!"
Hearing Chen Wenxiong’s tone, Chen Man Ni was suddenly very surprised.
"Dad, what are you trying to say? Why are you beating around the bush?"
A knowing smile played on Chen Wenxiong’s lips as he said,
"You should hurry up and give your old dad a grandson for me to look after. Otherwise, I’ll have nothing to do after I retire!"
Chen Man Ni finally understood what Chen Wenxiong meant, and her face instantly flushed crimson.
She huffed indignantly and said,
"Dad, what nonsense are you talking about? Qin Tuo and I aren’t even married yet. It’s not happening as fast as you think!"
But in her heart, she was filled with a sense of longing, imagining what her and Qin Tuo’s child would look like.
Chen Wenxiong said nonchalantly,
"That’s easy! You two can go get your marriage certificate tomorrow, and then have a big, healthy boy! HAHA!"
Seeing Chen Wenxiong getting more and more carried away, Chen Man Ni snorted in annoyance.
"Hmph, I’m not talking to you anymore!"
With that, she quickly grabbed Qin Tuo and beat a hasty retreat.
Qin Tuo, meanwhile, was completely speechless. He had obviously heard every single word of Chen Wenxiong’s spiel.
「A short while later, the two returned to the Half Moon Bay Villa.」
Even though they hadn’t been back for a while, the security guards at Half Moon Bay were very familiar with Qin Tuo and Chen Man Ni, greeting them with respectful nods the moment they saw them.
When they arrived in the Upper Bay Area and returned to the villa, they were instantly enveloped in a warm, homelike feeling.
After a moment of tender affection, Chen Man Ni squinted her eyes and said,
"Qin Tuo, I’m feeling a little tired. I’m going to my room to sleep!"
Qin Tuo nodded and said,
"Okay, you go get some rest. You’ve worked hard lately."
Chen Man Ni went into her room and quickly fell asleep.
Qin Tuo, after a moment of thought, transferred the money directly to Qiangwei.
Soon after, Qiangwei called, her voice filled with surprise.
"Celestial King, what happened? How did you get so much money all of a sudden?"
Qiangwei couldn’t imagine it. Just a short while ago, Qin Tuo was stressing over money, yet now he had raised such a large sum?
Qin Tuo chuckled.
"Qiangwei, don’t ask so many questions. Just take this money, send it to Medicine King Valley, and have them deliver the rest of the medicinal herbs."
Qiangwei didn’t dare to delay and said quickly,
"Yes, Celestial King! Rest assured, I’ll transfer the money as fast as I can."
After hanging up, Qin Tuo sat down cross-legged and began to cultivate.
Now that he had reached the Foundation Establishment Stage, Qin Tuo could feel his cultivation speed slowing down, as if he were wading through a mire.
But Qin Tuo wasn’t worried. He knew that once he got the remaining batch of herbs from Medicine King Valley, he would be able to advance his current realm once more.
Besides, the path of cultivation is taken one step at a time. Progressing too quickly wasn’t necessarily a good thing.
A short while later, Qiangwei called again, which Qin Tuo found a bit strange.
When he answered, however, Qiangwei’s voice was frantic.
"Celestial King, something terrible has happened!"
Qin Tuo’s heart sank. He asked urgently,
"Qiangwei, don’t panic. Tell me slowly, what exactly happened?"
Qiangwei swallowed hard and said worriedly,
"It’s like this, Celestial King... all our brothers stationed at the Liao Family Villa are dead!"
Qin Tuo’s brow furrowed deeply. He asked coldly,
"Is that so? Who did it? Was it Liao Feihu from the Capital City, or the people from Blood Moon Pavilion?"
