Chapter 760 - 763
"The continent is in chaos because the kings of the hundred nations and the leaders of the hundred sects have all died," the Seahorse General said. "That provided us with an opportunity."
"The kings of the hundred nations and the leaders of the hundred sects all died at the same time?" The Emperor of the Azure Empire found this hard to believe, and Zhan Sha’s eyes widened in shock. How could such a thing be possible? What on earth could have happened?
"Those kings and sect leaders heard their families had been brutally murdered," the Seahorse General explained. "They suspected the same person and went to seek justice, but he slaughtered every last one of them."
The Emperor of the Azure Empire’s brow furrowed. "And the Law Enforcers? Did they not intervene?"
The continent was in turmoil, which gave the Azure Empire a pretext to step in and "stabilize the world." Such an action would be permitted by the Law Enforcers.
"The Law Enforcers?" The Seahorse General gave a bitter laugh, a look of horror flashing in his eyes. "Hah, that man dares to kill even the Law Enforcers."
"What?" the Emperor of the Azure Empire exclaimed, stunned.
"Who is he?" Zhan Sha demanded.
"Wu Tian."
"What? It’s him?"
The Emperor of the Azure Empire and Zhan Sha spoke in unison, their eyes wide. They exchanged a look, their expressions growing even more complicated. To think it was Wu Tian again!
The Emperor sighed and turned to Zhan Sha. "Do you still have confidence now?"
"Yes," Zhan Sha replied through clenched teeth, snorting. "The more powerful he becomes, the more worthy he is of being defeated by me! I have pored over military texts and trained countless generals. I have been waiting for this chance to prove myself on the battlefield. Wu Tian? He will be nothing more than a stepping stone on my path to becoming a legendary general."
Zhan Sha’s fighting spirit was indomitable. Hearing that Wu Tian had even killed Law Enforcers didn’t frighten him; it only fueled his desire for battle.
Seeing this, the Emperor of the Azure Empire nodded in satisfaction. He, too, was pleased by Wu Tian’s strength. Because Wu Tian was formidable, he could help forge a truly great general. To the Emperor of the Azure Empire, Wu Tian was a whetstone.
Meanwhile, in the Xiuyuan Royal Palace, Wu Tian had a faint smile on his face as he explained some of the difficulties on the cultivation path to the little one, Dao Feng, and the others. He had no idea that far away, across the ocean in the Azure Empire, he was being viewed as a stepping stone and a whetstone.
If he knew, he would have let out a cold, wild laugh. Throughout history, anyone who dared to use him as a stepping stone or a whetstone had died a miserable death.
"Do you remember what I said?"
"Yes, Sect Leader," Dao Feng and the others responded in unison.
They all listened intently to Wu Tian’s lecture. Indeed, it was more than just an explanation; it was a sermon on the Martial Path. After he finished, Dao Feng and the others felt as if the Martial Path concepts that had always eluded them were suddenly crystal clear. Having a Sect Leader like Wu Tian, they felt, was a blessing of three lifetimes.
"I have matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now. Continue your cultivation."
"Yes, Sect Leader," Dao Feng and the others replied.
Wu Tian smiled, then departed. His Spiritual Sense had detected new life forms in the river within the Royal Palace grounds, and he decided to go and investigate.
After Wu Tian left, the back garden became the little one’s domain. "I peeked at the Challenge Letter too," she said in her squeaky, childlike voice. "The one looking for my dad is the Great General of the Azure Empire, Zhan Sha! He wants to face my dad in a full-scale battle."
"What? A full-scale battle?"
"So, Zhan Sha doesn’t want a one-on-one duel with the Sect Leader? He wants a war between two armies to see who wins?"
As they chattered excitedly, they all turned to Zhou Butong. As the eldest and most experienced among them, he would surely know about the Azure Empire.
Zhou Butong chuckled. Being with these young people made him feel much younger at heart. The old rascal was becoming even more mischievous. With a sly grin, he began to explain the Azure Empire’s situation. The Empire was situated in the middle of the ocean. On one side, it bordered the continent of the Three Realms, and on the other, vast forests. The Azure Empire had always harbored wolfish ambitions. Some of their generals would often transform into creatures like fish, get caught by farmers, and use that as a chance to infiltrate the Three Realms and scout for opportunities. It was safe to say the Azure Empire had been coveting the lands of the Three Realms for a very long time, and now, their chance had finally come.
"So they’ve been plotting to destroy the Three Realms all along," the little one said, nodding. She glanced around at everyone. "This time, we have to crush them. Are you all with me?"
"Yes!"
Since even the little one was speaking so boldly, Dao Feng and the others felt that as adults, they couldn’t show any less spirit. They all roared their agreement.
"Good." The little one’s adorable eyes sparkled. "I’m going to the battlefield this time, and you all better be there too, or I’ll beat you up! We’ll show that Zhan Sha what’s what. Make him see that if he wants to fight my dad, he has to get through us first! Hehe, he won’t even be able to beat us, let alone my dad! Let’s make him furious!"
"That’s right, let’s make him furious!" Zhou Butong, who also hated the Sea Clan, chimed in. "This old man will definitely join the battle."
"We’ll go too," said Dao Feng, Lan Niang, and Hong Ji.
"Good. Then in a few days, on the battlefield, we’ll make that shark understand one thing..." The little one’s large eyes glinted with mischief as she smiled and declared, "He’s nothing but a stupid shark!"
Wu Tian arrived at the small river in the back garden. It was rumored to connect to the city’s moat.
"Come out," he said simply.
Jellyfish began to surface from the water, and large crabs crawled onto the bank. The largest of them, a venomous jellyfish standing three meters tall with terrifying eyes, addressed Wu Tian, its tone surprisingly polite. "Are you Wu Tian?"
Wu Tian nodded slightly.
"Wonderful! The Turtle Divine Doctor told us our master had arrived, so we came to find you first," said a fierce-looking crab nearly a meter long, its voice filled with joy.
Gazing at the jellyfish and crabs, a flicker of memory surfaced in Wu Tian’s mind. He recalled that he had indeed kept jellyfish and crabs as pets for a time. These creatures had to be their descendants. Ten thousand years had passed. The original jellyfish and crab were long gone, but their descendants lived on. Wu Tian hadn’t expected them to come looking for him.
However, a quick scan with his Spiritual Sense told him that these jellyfish and crabs had little potential. Reaching the Tongxuan Realm would be their absolute limit.
"Master, what is it?" From the moment they met, the venomous jellyfish had already taken to calling him ’Master’ with ease.
"Yes, Master, is something troubling you? Please tell us," the fierce crab added, concerned.
Wu Tian glanced at them and smiled. "It’s nothing."
The jellyfish and crabs didn’t possess any powerful bloodlines, yet they had a chance at Bloodline Reversion. Wu Tian remembered the original jellyfish and crab that had accompanied him. They had been hardworking and endured much by his side, but eventually chose to leave on their own because of their limited potential. A wave of emotion washed over him at the memory.
Bloodline Reversion is an incredibly difficult process... Still, I wonder what a jellyfish and a crab revert into?
