Chapter 2013 - 1828: Do They All Have Inner Cores?
Song Yun quickly became familiar with Nie Wushuang and Emily; the three of them chatted and laughed, getting along extremely well.
From time to time he told a joke that every Huaxia person knew; the two girls had never heard them and were laughing their heads off.
Sometimes Song Yun told some really suggestive jokes; since the two girls didn’t understand Chinese very well, they kept asking him to explain, and when Song Yun finally revealed the punchline, their faces flushed scarlet with embarrassment.
But the more they listened, the more curious they became. Even though they were so embarrassed they wanted to crawl into a hole, they still urged Song Yun to keep telling jokes.
Laughter kept ringing out, and the atmosphere was very harmonious.
However, Gude was not pleased.
"Hmph, Miss Wushuang, when have you ever laughed like that for me."
"That brat is just too damn infuriating."
"I’m definitely going to kill him!"
Resentment churned in Gude’s heart. He couldn’t stand watching Song Yun getting along with Nie Wushuang and Emily, so he walked over to cut in: "Song Yun, that giant python just now, you killed it?"
Song Yun was talking to Nie Wushuang. Hearing Gude’s question, he nodded. "Yeah."
Gude asked, "That giant python was incredibly strong, it even collapsed the passage, and you were heavily injured yourself. I’d say that python was at least equivalent to a high-level Viscount. Oh right, a high-level Viscount is what you Huaxia people call S-rank."
Song Yun didn’t care and replied casually, "More or less."
That Flood Snake’s bloodline might’ve been thin, but it was still at the peak of SS-rank, absolutely not something an S-rank could compare to.
And since it was a monster beast, it was naturally stronger than humans of the same level. If Song Yun hadn’t thought of attacking from inside the Flood Snake’s mouth, even a human of the same rank would probably have died.
Seeing the contempt in Gude’s eyes, Song Yun’s mind was like a mirror. This guy had clearly come over just to humiliate him.
Song Yun smiled. "That giant python was really tough, its body was incredibly hard and it was very hard to deal with. I also had to use every ounce of strength I had before I managed to defeat it. I’m sure Mr. Gude is much stronger than me, so I’ll be relying on you to look after me for the rest of the journey."
Seeing Song Yun being so submissive, Gude was stunned for a moment, then immediately showed a look of disdain and said coldly, "A man should stand tall and face the sky. Why would he need others to look after him? Besides, if we really encounter danger, I still have to protect Miss Wushuang’s safety. Where would I find the time to bother with you? When the time comes, if we have no choice, we might just have to leave you behind."
As he said this, a vicious glint flashed in Gude’s eyes.
Good grief, looks like he’s dead set on killing me.
Song Yun sneered inwardly. Gude might be a high-level Earl, but to someone who had killed a peak SS-rank Flood Snake, he really wasn’t worth mentioning.
He hadn’t planned on bothering with Gude, but Nie Wushuang was having none of it. She stomped her foot angrily. "Gude, Werewolves are kind and gentle by nature and always eager to help others. How could you say something like that just now? I’m telling you, no matter what happens, we must not abandon Song Yun."
Seeing Nie Wushuang stand up for Song Yun, Gude grew even angrier and said anxiously, "Miss Wushuang, our manpower is limited. We don’t know what dangers we might encounter on the road ahead. If we’re wiped out because Song Yun holds us back, that loss won’t be worth it."
Nie Wushuang started throwing a little tantrum, pouting as she said, "I don’t care. Anyway, I’m taking Song Yun with us. You’re not allowed to throw him away."
Looking at Nie Wushuang angry like that—her cheeks flushed, eyes misty—she was utterly adorable.
On any other day, Gude would’ve thought she looked stunning.
But right now, Gude’s heart was full of rage.
Because Nie Wushuang was defending Song Yun, which made him feel extremely unbalanced.
He said irritably, "Miss Wushuang, I can guarantee your safety, but as for Song Yun, I can’t spare that much attention."
"You..."
Nie Wushuang trembled with anger, at a loss for words.
Although she herself had early-stage SS-rank strength, she had never ventured out into the world before and lacked confidence.
So, in her heart, she still relied on Gude somewhat.
Hearing that Gude wouldn’t care about Song Yun, she grew frantic with worry.
This was her dream man. She still had so many things she wanted to say to Song Yun; there was no way she could let anything happen to him.
At this moment, Emily shot Gude a glare, then said seriously to Song Yun, "Song Yun, don’t worry. If we run into danger, I’ll protect you."
Although Emily’s strength didn’t quite match Gude’s, she was still a high-level Earl. As long as they weren’t besieged or facing a Marquis or SS-rank expert, she could still put up a fight.
Hearing Emily say this, Gude’s face grew even uglier.
He might be chasing after Nie Wushuang, but did he really have no thoughts about Emily?
Besides, Emily had a pretty face and a smoking hot figure, perfectly fitting Western aesthetics. Lots of people in Wolf Castle admired her.
And Gude’s desire to pursue Nie Wushuang was largely because she was Yineye’s granddaughter; he wanted to marry Nie Wushuang to leverage Yineye’s influence.
Even so, Emily’s attitude toward Song Yun still made Gude feel displeased.
"Emily, sooner or later I’ll get you into my bed and play with you as much as I want."
Gude cursed in his heart, but on the surface he didn’t say anything nasty to Emily.
He looked at Song Yun, a contemptuous expression on his face. "A man actually needs a woman to protect him. You really are a disgrace."
Song Yun just smiled indifferently, clasped his hands behind his head, and lay back lazily on the stretcher. "Having women protect me feels pretty damn good."
After saying that, he actually started whistling.
This scene immediately made Nie Wushuang and Emily burst out laughing. Both of them secretly praised him—Song Yun’s mentality was really something else.
Gude hadn’t expected Song Yun to counter like this. His eyes bulged as he shouted angrily, "You... you’re shameless!"
"My strength is weak, there’s nothing I can do about that. I can only rely on women."
